a cat won't attack someone breaking into my house My iguana has attacked 2 people so far. Does that count? One was a boyfriend he hated....got rid of the boyfriend (ig was right that he was a bad choice), and the other was one of his vets.
My cat just needed a home (has a few mental issues), and my ig has always had a kitty to amuse himself with, so the cat is actually his.

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/6/2008 12:26:19 AM | | I'll tell you what, I'm more of a cat person but I'm just an animal person in general really. What creeps me out is the people that keep insects as pets. My cat is sleeping with his paw over his eyes right now, it looks ridiculously adorable, so adorable infact that I threw that unmanly bit of wording out right there to describe it. In the end, are you ever gonna see a spider doin something cute like that? Or do anything cute? Ugh... | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/6/2008 7:24:02 AM | I would choose a dog over a cat. Dogs are a bit higher maintenance but their loyalty, playfulness and emotional behaviour make them such lovable pets, imo.
I like cats, but I would prefer to own a dog.

Worse yet!! I stopped to help a pretty good size snapping turtle across the road; and ppl call me crazy!!! Sheeesh!!
I hate the fact that some will make target practice of wild cratures...Makes me withdraw from folks even more... No value in another life.
Not how I taught my children.
I even tried to investigate a big hairy brown spider the other night. (YUK!) OMG!! I don't like spiders at all, especially when they're big enough to saddle!!!
I will overcome this eventually, but preferably NOT by surprise!!!
God Bless, Scott. | |

What a crazy paradox am I.

I'm shocked to see how many men have cats. I thought that straight guys weren't very fond of cats. Men always talk about how they don't like women who own too many cats or who talk about their cats all the time. So why do so many men have them?
-Cats are clinically proven to reduce stress. -you show them where the food is and where the litter box and they pretty much take care of themselves. -it's always nice to have a buddy that's quiet and will sleep at the foot of your bed and come to get petted every now and then.
I see no correlation between cats and masculinity or how straight you are.

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/13/2008 7:45:30 AM | I love dogs and will tolerate cats, but can live without them. I've always had both though. When I moved here last fall, there were two stray female cats hanging around outside. After a few weeks of coaxing them with food, I managed to catch them and bring them inside. Not sure why I did that. Loneliness, I guess. My dog has always had a cat to snuggle with.
I would say that any man who loves animals (of any kind) is OK in my book. I've known men who never had a pet as a kid and hated animals as adults. They were some of the most judgmental and unhappy people I think I've known. And their children, also without pets, were excessive neat-freaks, afraid of their own shadow, and didn't know how to play (except for video games).
My dog will come get me and take me to the door when she wants out. She'll take me to the treat box when she wants a "cookie". She'll bring me a toy when she wants to play. She greets me at the door as if we haven't seen each other in years, even when I've only been gone long enough to walk to the mailbox and back. The cats sit and stare at me with one eyebrow raised as if to say, "Well!"
Dogs have owners. Cats have staff!

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/13/2008 9:36:38 AM | I've often wondered the same thing, and what I've come up with is this: it might be said that people who tend to really prefer cats over dogs have a proclivity towards the more independent of mind/spirit. The corollary to this is that die hard dog fans lean more towards those who exhibit signs of being the steadfastly loyal/obedient/unwaveringly dependable types.
Now, that being said, the one isn't mutually exclusive to the other. I'm not saying that cat-fans can't be loyal, nor dog-fans independent, &c, &c. Case-in-point, If I were to draw a Venn diagram of it I'd be right in the freakin' middle ;]
Funny thing though, now that I think about it, I'm finding that, throughout my relationship history I've always been more drawn to cat-people. Which makes a lot of sense, actually.

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/13/2008 1:19:39 PM | One thing about cats and men. Cats are relativley low maintenance. If a guy has cats, he doesn't have to worry if he wants to take off for the weeeknd, or overnight. It's not like walking a dog. Just leave dry food out, a couple of bowls of water, clean litterbox. The damned things won't even know you're gone. Fish are even lower maintenance. you can disappear a week or more. | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/13/2008 2:40:34 PM | | I love cats and have always had them , dogs are great also, but need a lot of time and attention, dogs do not do well also in a single person household where they are left alone for hours upon hours a day while owner is at work, some dogs may adapt to that, but I don't know much about them, but I know if I had a dog, I'd feel bad for leaving it alone all the time, least with the cats, it isn't as bad. Shouldn't really matter, animal lovers are animal lovers and it simply doesn't matter what you prefer dog or cat , both are extremely popular pets lol | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/13/2008 6:59:44 PM | | touchy subject, but personal preference like everything else in life, i'm a dog man, the unconditional loyalty and companionship is great, instead of those crazy claws and hairball suprises in the morning in your shoes... ugh guess this is my allergies speaking, but they are excellent and catching flys, but I certainly can't take my cat with me while i go jogging lol | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/17/2008 10:22:53 PM | Cats are a lazy and aloof and an unappreciative form of dogs . Cat food is much smellier than dog food . Cats rarely come when they are called or play fetch .
Cats are are not my kind of animal , but , if you love 'em , then , that is just fine .

| Men and cats? Posted: 6/17/2008 10:29:11 PM | Not a big fan of cat's. Probly because I have birds and in most cases they don't get along. At all. But other peoples cats crack me up most of the time. I do question silently about women who have more then two however... | |
