Cats are like women.

Unless it's a male cat.

Or if he was neutered, that would qualify.

Regardless, sometimes you want the pu$$ycat in your house and other times you have to kick it out.

Don't have one anymore, but I need one. They are fun to insult and do things to. Last one I had was called Gloves. He had such a nice coat in the winter. He was my favorite garment. There is nothing like petting a soft kitty and telling him in your high squeaky voice that he will be dead soon. If you have dogs too then you get to play "get that kitty". Sometimes they only run under the couch. But sometimes they jump up on the tv and hiss. A hissing kitty is cool especially if he gets his claws out. It's neat when it is really sunny out. His pupils turn into thin little slits... totally wild if he has yellow eyes. They run funny too.

I stay away from cat women. The ones that I've dated, tend to be "different" emotionally, if you catch my drift.

Cats are one of my favourite animals, they are low maintenance, clean, and quiet unlike dogs which are the complete opposite. Always good for affection and playful, although my cat can be a little hard to control at night since she wants to pounce on my feet and bite my ankles....the hairy legs might have something to do with that

I had never cared for cats. I didn't hate them or anything, just had little use for them. Had never been around many cats and the ones I had were just so aloof and unaffectionate. My thought was why do I need a cat if I can have a dog.

Well, I got married, and within a year she had convinced me to let her "adopt" a neighbors cat who always hung around our house. The thing was, it always hung out in my garage while I was out there. And she wasn't that bad. She was friendly. So, poof, we were a cat house. By the time my wife and I separated 9 years later we were a three cat family. And a dog. When she went back to NC she took two of them and left me the first cat we adopted - because the cat liked me better.

That cat disappeared. But I've gotten another since then. From a friend whose cat had a litter. He's a great cat. Probably the best I've had so far. Loves to go in the truck. Will get right in his cat carrier when I sit it out. Lays right up next to the dog in the winter. Sleeps on top of my monitor and droops his head and front leg over the front. Comes running when I call for him or shake the Pounce can. His name is Paladin - Pal for short. Great cat.

Though if I had choose only one, a cat or a dog, I'd choose to have a dog.

I think many men prefer dogs initially, but when it comes to a choosing a furry companion that will not turn their life upside down, a cat is the logical choice. From the point of adoption, the paternal instinct takes over, and kitty becomes quite important.

I'm a dog lover first and foremost, but have had cats when my life situation did not allow for a dog. As soon as I knew the dog was imminent, the ex-girlfriend got to keep the cats. You can't run with cats, and more people are allergic to them.

Guinea Pigs are just wrong...ate one in Peru....tasted like tough chicken.

I love all animals and cats are an easy pet to keep when compared to a dog. If I had the time I would probably have a bunch of animals. It is true that a lot of guys don't like cats, but there a few of us straight cat/animal lovers out there.

I personally like cats better...

They teach themselves all the tricks they need to know, which actually is perfect for guys, since we're lazy!

Then there's the fact that kittens can melt the heart of a war-veteran. They're so dang cute!

Finally, there's the little thing about not having to walk them every day. Ok, that's not little, that is the reason cats are so awesome!

Agreed! They are great judges of character.Especially don't trust people who bother them-they are mean spirited, evil people at heart, it's plain to see, really.

A female friend of mine, an older lady, once told me "Never trust someone who doesn't have some dog or cat hair on them every once in awhile."

I'm not overly fond of them, but that's more from an environmental/nature point of view.

Otherwise some are quite cute.

I do like dogs, but they are often so clingy!

Maybe that's why I don't have any clingy friends either!

I admire the strength traits of the lone hunter.

It's nice to spend time with others, but it's nicer

to be ABLE to be self sufficient and not needy!

So, that is why I guess I identify so well with with cats.

I have a cat. He's self sufficient but not aloof. Doesn't destroy the house and kills all small intruders. I like dogs as well but they defintely require more time and effort. I don't buy that horses***t about men and cats.
