I've always preferred cats to any other animal. They're low-maintenance and cute. What more could you want? :P

Low maintenance and cute? Is this suggestive of your taste in women?

I am a cat person. They don't smell like dogs, they don't bark like dogs, they don't slobber on you like dogs, they don't jump around like they are on crack, and when was the last time you read a headline: "Child mauled by house cat!"?? They are more urban and indoorsy.

A former roomate had two cats - that he inherited from his sister. When he moved out of the country, let's just say I didn't bat a tear or lose any sleep when they were taken to an animal shelter....

Women are often commenting on how hard it is to get an accurate reading on who a man really is, ie how to get past what he says, and how to work out what sort of person he really is.

One good indicator is how a man feels about cats. A man who likes cats, or at least respects them, is most likely going to be a good person. It also shows his attitude to life in general. And besides, if a man can't respect your pets, how is he going to respect you? A man who clearly despises cats, and is happy to make that known, should be avoided.

I love cats. They are cute, attractive and good companions. Several times lately, when I have mentioned to women during MSN chat that I have cats here, they'll comment, "oh, so you're a big softy then". I am, and it's good that I get to convey that point with having to try and say so directly.

I have two cats here, and am a perfectly healthy and mentally sound adult male. My cats tell me that every day through telepathic messages. ;-)

I'm shocked to see how many men have cats. I thought that straight guys weren't very fond of cats.

You would think that men would like cats almost as much as dogs. Cat take care of themselves, are clean, don't require loads of obsessive caring. Sounds like a perfect companion for guys who often barely take care of themselves and their bachelor pads.

I like to pet cats when I run across them but you people claiming that they are clean animals must be high. They spread plenty of filth around a home. The guy who listed all the things they do to a home as reasons why he wouldn't want one is exactly right on.

But an outdoor cat that hunts, fights and has kind of a hardass personality, I could like a cat like that.

The best pet I ever had was a cat. But don't tell my dog I told you so.

His name was Desperado (I wanted to name him Diablo, but my mother is catholic, and she nixed the idea).

When he was a kitten, he would steal cigarettes from my father's shirt pocket, then run away and hide his ill gotten gain somewhere. Hence the name, Desperado (bandit).

I'm allergic to them so I'm a dog guy. They don't taste like chicken BTW and they are easier to care for than a dog because you can potty train them to either use a litter box or a toilet, but if they use a litter box, accept that every surface in your house will be touched by their paws that were just covering up their doo doo.

Also keep in mind pregnant women should NEVER change cat litter.

My current cats have been around longer than any woman has been!
The GF's all liked them, and personally as a single (ok, have a GF now ) guy they are *far* easier than a dog. I like dogs, but having to be home and let them out to pee could be a hassle (easier now, I work from home), and when I was dating a woman 3 hours away I could easily take off for the weekend and just fill the dry food feeder for them, and they have the litter box, they'd be fine for 2-3 days by themselves. Overnight trips for work, or just a 'weekend getaway', not a problem.

And they make great bedwarmers , plus they are very clean and don't need baths to clean them up (they take care of that themselves).

I had two but one was just killed a few hours ago.
I Love my kitties unconditionally; they are my companions. Very smart, clean and loving. They have been with me for years and I will miss Moonbeam alot. They are Manx and are quite intelligent and follow verbal commands and are talkative and respond to speech devotingly.

God Bless

^^ I knew there was a reason I adored you even from a very long distance. Men with cats = good thing.

I'll disappear again now.

Sorry Eaglescry68. I know what its like, I just had to put one of mine to sleep 2 months ago (cancer finally took its toll ). People who don't like pets (of any kind) don't understand just how attached you can get to an animal you've had for many years.

LOL.. I hate Cats!!

I've always been a dog lover. My son graduated high school and joined Army. I couldn't deal with his dog, it dug up my entire yard constantly. Couldn't grow no flowers. So we got rid of the mutt.
I later got myself a puppy. It crapped all over the house. Drove me nuts. I am a single man which means when I go to work the puppy remains all alone in the house. I had no time to train the puppy to stop messing up my house. So I got rid of it.
Here is the issue, nothing in my house but fish. Most of which are dying because I can't remember to feed them. It is quiet and lonely. I am not dating, nor even bothering to look.
So a friend on internet says, "Get a cat."
I hate cats.
She informs me that the cat would be less trouble than a dog. That it might go potty on floor 3 times Maximum and that if I toss it in a "Box" it would start using this box.
That is impossible, no animal is that easy to train.

So one day I took a small trip. Her name is "Gvhe" it means "WildCat or Bobcat" it is from the Cherokee language. She is now 3 years old and the best critter I could buy.
I still hate cats.

But when my son is gone for months at a time, to Iraq, Training in Army, visiting his mother.. I got my tiny friend to keep me busy. Something to take care of. That is why I have a cat. I wanted responsiblity of taking care of something. Could say I am needed.

Well, if I wasn't single and had any kids then I'd probably didn't have my cats. Besides I work all day and cats are the perfect pets that can stay alone and do their needs in a litterbox.. I can't say the same about dogs (they need to be taken out at least 3-5 times a day and I am not able to provide that since I'm working).. So Yea, I wanted some company and keep me warm during those cold winter nights when I'm all alone and cold. What's a better choice then cats then?

I could have taken rats (which I had years ago) but they don't live that long.. So I got 2 cats.. To keep each other company and then later at night they can keep me company...

I grew up with a cat, was lucky enough to have her until I was 16. Currently have a cat who is 15, though he is in retirement and happily living out his days at my parents house (He's such an outdoor fella, if I brought him to my place, I'm sure he would just end up on their doorstep within the week) Women with cats and cat ladies I think are a bit of a stereotype. Was never a big fan of dogs until my ex's german shepperd which I fell in love with. Miss him (cancer) and miss my dog that i left with my ex.

I like cats,

especially the big cats. I like to watch the lions, tigers, cheetahs stretch, priming themselves for action

Awesome creatures of beauty, grace and power, something I like to be associated with.

I like to stretch like the big cats

Learn something new every day for why we shouldn't assume for others, no? I'd cats when I lived up north. Most were ferals and long hairs that came a 'meowing at my door'. Russian Blues, Persians, Calicos, and a colorful assortment of others. Ended my cat-keeping days w/ a pair of Siamese brothers that I agreed to take off a friend's hands in MI. I moved to FL after them, and would not keep a cat that I can't keep, let outside, or be able to defend itself. Please note that I'm being 'agender' specific for its sex.

I love all animals, no prejudices except for snakes. I had two cats prior to my marriage because I traveled frequently and worked hours that were incompatible with owning a dog. (That and living on the 15th floor of an old building on S. Beach with sloooow elevators- there were days I didn't think I could hold it long enough to get off the elevator, imagine what a poor dog would do) Coming home late at night to a pair of playful furballs put me in great mood, no matter what happened that day. It was similar to coming home to the kids.

As soon as I sell my house and buy another, I will be getting a dog and a cat for the kids. Ok I admit the pets are really for me.
