| Men and cats? Posted: 2/5/2008 11:03:12 PM | | Where you have cats you do not have mice. Cats are great hunters and will search endlessly for a mouse. However, cats are cruel as well, they will play with a mouse for hours till finaly the mouse dies of exhuastion. Best thing about a cat is they are low maintenance. Just put water and food down and they can basicaly take care of themselves. If I could I would probably have a bobcat as a pet. Not even sure if a person would be allowed to have one? But that is a cat I would like to get my hands on. | |

Another suggestion, maybe not for you (I too have had a cat die from kidney failure), where I am anyways there's a local 'mobile vet' who can come over and 'take care of it' at home.
Although, my one cat (13 now, with cancer) watched his 'older brother' put to sleep in my living room on his favorite chair, from about 5' away, the look on his face was just sooo sad... and he went and hid under the dining room table for 3 days.
Now with his cancer, I've been taking him for chemo treatments - he's not going into remission, but he's definitely gotten another 6months out of it, cuddles in bed with me every night, with luck he might get to enjoy the summer.

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 6:11:31 AM | | When my wife and i split up, she left me HER cats...I was a dog person, but grew very fond of the two of them. One passed when I was gone. But 'my boy' is 14 but in great heal. He acts more like a dog. Very affectionate and playful. Plus don't need to walk him. | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 7:23:48 AM | Forums1 I hope all goes well with your cat!
Well Simba died at 9 this morning. I was able to be with him before he died for about an hour. It was very hard for me watching him take his last breath. Petting him and talking with him and applying water to his lips. Kids where in school so they did not have to deal with this. I buried him over his buddy King. King was his pal and it seemed he was hit by a car and left to die on my neighbors lawn just a few months ago. I wondered if Simba just fell apart after not seeing him anymore.
When I read some of the few posts about men who say men are pussies if they have cats. It just shows me and I am sure others that they that say such a thing are not men at all. Most families have pets. And to each there own on what kind of pet they have. They do become family members in a sense.
Simba was with us 14 years. And he was a cool kat! I noticed two things this morning. First I had a dream about my cat last night. Guess it was on my mind enough to dream of him. And the other. There was a dead mouse on my lawn... just like old times with Simba

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 9:08:40 AM | Sorry for the loss 17Again.
Y'know, I've had some people think I'm "crazy" for spending what I have (several $grand) on "a cat" doing chemo... but then again, I think to myself, I would do the same for a *human* partner too, and my boss is funny, he says "I don't know how you do it, it must be hard." But I ask, "What would you do if your wife, your 'human companion of many years' got cancer, would you abandon them, or would you do what you could to help, even if it was 'hard'? Would you stick with them until 'the end'?"
Hey, if they want to think we're "pussies" 17, let them think that. I think it says more about you that you would stick by a long-time 'family member' until the end, doing what you could for them to make the time they have left comfortable, than someone who thinks you are a '****' for caring about an animal.

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 9:33:48 AM | I get along with cats. In fact, I think I'm going to miss the two that live in the house I'm in when I move.
I agree with the appeal to them for the "single guy" in that they are easy to care for and low maintenance. As long as they have somewhere to sleep, a full bowl and someone to purr at when you pet and play with them them, they really don't ask for more. (Yeah, I think it does describe the woman a lot of men want )

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 10:05:54 AM | | Oh i absolutely love cats. Used to have two but they died of cancer a few years ago :(. In the end a little stray kinda adopted us so we look after him now :) | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 11:38:07 AM | | Well I was actually thinking about getting a cat, because the apartment is too quiet sometimes and there is no way I could take care of a dog. Just not enough time to take it out to pee and stuff. So a cat would be a good substitute. With a cat all you have to do is feed it. I think I could handle that. | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 11:50:22 AM | Look, I'm a manly man and I have 12 cats. It's some kind of weird stereotype I guess. Sort of like how men like to drive trucks and not small cars. It all relates to penis/insecurity issues I think. I like cats. Cats are smaller than dogs. Therefore, I'm comfortable with my penis size? Maybe there's more to it than that.
Btw, totally off topic but I saw a good movie the other night: http://www.alliancefilms.com/inbruges

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 8:31:27 PM | My cat Sniper, will be celebrating her 19th birthday in a week or so. That's a good part of a lifetime, she has shared with me!
I just have more respect for cats then dogs. Maybe it's just their independent nature. Some dogs can be so overbearing. I don't want an animal to get up every time I do.
I've had women consider themselves playing second fiddle to my cat, and I've actually had the cat warn me about another woman!
Of course, she was correct!

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 11:15:23 PM | | the two cats in the house here are odd. On likes to be spanked and has a jean fettish, the other one is, "special". With the petite female, she will come up to you and rub on you but only if you're wearing jeans. If you try to gently pet her, she will bite you. But if you spank her, she will rub more and claw in like most cats getting a good rub will. The other one will just come up to you and throw himself down, belly up. He love exposing her belly for a rub. Never seen it in a cat before. | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/6/2008 11:39:01 PM | | There is nothing sissy about a man who is loving and kind to an animal especially when some in society tell him that is isn't manly. That's a man who follows his own path and is pretty dam secure!! Kudos to you and all male cat lovers!! That's hot!!! | |

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/7/2008 6:07:02 AM | Well, not only am I very slightly allergic to dogs, well certain dogs, cats are seriously a man pet when it gets down to it. They are lazy, they sleep most of the day and in the end they're affectionate and warm but don't wanna get all over you all the time. Content to just do their own thing. Cats aren't all that high maintenance and like I said, lazy and friendly is a good thing to have in a pet. I know my cat is a little friendly mangey beast. haha big sissy though, refuses to go outdoors but that's alright.
Man, I was reading some of the posts above and they are seriously depressing. I can relate to them, I've had multiple cats die, only 1 that basically died of old age. They get to be part of the family and being small furry/friendly companions it's really sad to watch them suffer and basically not be able to do anything about it.

HI, ARE YOU LEAVING YOURE CATS IN THE HOUSE AND MOVING???
CHERYL I would never do that. I will be moving out and the ex is keeping the cats. I will miss them very much, but I do not want to take them out of the house they know and she will have more time to look after them than I.

| Men and cats? Posted: 2/7/2008 10:23:49 AM | I have a 7 year old who's the most neurotic cat i've ever met. If he was human he'd be on lithium i'm sure!!
I also have 2 kittens who are a riot. They suit me in that they can look after themselves and if they need attention, I know my place and i'm here for them. Some guys prefer dogs, others cats. Some guys don't live where a dog is suitable, like a flat or very small house. I just find my cats are perfect for me.

Even though he is gone, Simba brought you that mouse you know. He will always be with you.
And one day, he will send you another cat that will be special in their own way, but will remind you an awful lot of Simba. Cats have a great sense of humor in heaven.

| Men and cats? Posted: 4/9/2008 6:10:33 PM | Cats remind me of alot of the women I've encountered
They're seductive when they have to be they ignore you and they'll pretend to like you for a while if you've got food. I have a cat at home who ignores me constantly and hates being touched.
my father told me it's like having a wife.

I stay away from cat women. The ones that I've dated, tend to be "different" emotionally, if you catch my drift.
you mean like really cool and independent and excellent lovers?

I have a cat who likes it a bit "rough", too. He loves hanging over my shoulder and having his arse smacked. It's hilarious, he'll knead my back and purr like a diesel engine. What a freak! I love him.
