| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/13/2007 10:31:14 AM | Thanks for organizing this! Noticed that there are 56 people signed up. I play on a team in the Monday night league at Breakers. Saturday night is pretty busy, so you'll need a whole lot more than four tables if this many people show up. I also suggest we play mixed Scotch Doubles to get four people playing on each table. If you want we can set it up like a round robin tournament so that everyone can meet as many people as possible. I've run pool tournaments before and I'll help out however I can, if you want.

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/13/2007 11:07:12 AM | Sounds like a good idea, Gary. I just called Breakers and they have 8 tables on reserve in the lounge section for us now. If there are people who aren't drinking and don't mind, there are tables in the non-drinking section that may be available. You just need to ask the girls there when you arrive if that's what you'd prefer, but I think 8 tables in the lounge should be ok and give people a reason to have to meet and talk to each other. That's the whole point of this get together, right? Meet new people and socialize, possibly making new friends, maybe more. This should be a fun night and I hope I get to at least say hi to the majority of you when I see you.

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/13/2007 2:49:43 PM | There are people who don't drink? lol.
I've drawn up a schedule based on Scotch Doubles. It's not a win/lose tournament - just a playing schedule that gets everyone moving around to meet other people. Scotch Doubles is just a "fun" way to play because players alternate shots even if they sink a ball, so no one gets too serious about it. People who see this post can either let me know they want to partner with someone they know, or I'll put them with someone. It's setup for sixteen teams of two, so that will get us started at least. At the end of the first round we can reassign players or change the teams, and start another round depending on how much time it took to play the first five games.
See you there!

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/13/2007 7:00:24 PM | | i have been wondering about how paying for the tables is going to work. will breakers charge us a flat rate for the evening and who will be repsonsible for collecting the $. don't want anyone to get stuck with the bill. does anyone know how this works? | |
|
| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/13/2007 7:06:19 PM | As I mentioned I work at breakers as kitchen manager and I am sure they will charge us a flat rate for the tables, which is generally $10 an hour per table . I was there today when someone called to reserve more tables, they are ready for you all and hopefully you all wont eat TOO much food and force this poor kitchen manager to work instead of having fun like I should be, its dangerous for me to attend work on a day off but hey its for a worthy cause

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/13/2007 7:25:01 PM | thanks for the info but who will be the $ collector? it's not like everyone will arrive at the same time. we should have hired a bouncer!
and this pregnant lady will require at least one snack. my stomach has now been squished to the size of a golf ball and i can only eat little bits at a time which means i require regular feedings! | |

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/13/2007 7:45:36 PM | | no worries there we will take care of you hunger spurts, as far as being collector probably best if we set an amount per person to pay for the tables which if we have 8 tables will be $80 an hour for all of them, so if 40 people show and each toss in $5 that should pretty much cover it, plus I do have a little pull around there so im sure it can be all good. i will be there around 8:30 if you want to grab me when I come in we can figure it all out. I met my present girlfriend on this site so its the least I can do to help out where I can. JUST ASK!!! | |

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/14/2007 1:31:46 AM | | Although I was unable to get into the tournament as there weren't enough spots and I wouldn't have been able to stay until the end of the tourney anyway, I had a great time at Pool Night. Many thanks to princesstigerlily for organising the get-together and just as many thanks to happylulu for not humiliating me on the pool table! While I did tend to stay in close proximity to my chair, most of the time, for fear of having to socialise, it was nice meeting those of you who I did get a chance to say hi to. :) | |

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/14/2007 10:56:48 AM | | Had an awesome time last night, met lots of new people and actually put some faces to pictures which is always a good thing. I think we should seriously consider a monthly pool night like this. I would be happy to organize it as I am in the perfect position to do so. I will also negotiate with my boss on better pool prices if we decide to do this more regularily. I think its an awesome idea . If the interest is there we will do it | |

| Kelowna Get Together JAN. 13th Posted: 1/14/2007 11:20:50 AM | We had a BLAST last nite, was a great idea, THANKS to the girls. In fact, we should do this every month, say the 3rd Saturday or something. If this is organized in advance, we'd all get a better deal.. could even get a taste of Ken's wings, PLUS Breaker's will do the organizing and all could have fun (instead of organizing). Breaker's gets paid, let them do the work.. LOL

I had a great time even though my partner sucked royally lol (so gonna catch crap for that he he)
Six degrees of separation was in total effect last night! It's amazing how many people you meet that you are connected to in some way.
Can't wait for the Vernon one in Feb...now I know how this works...going to have to go to more of these! It was great to put faces to the profiles.
Till the next one!
