Many guys think that they should only date one particular type of woman...Blondes for instance. Like my ½ Native American Apache paternal grandmother my hair began turning grey very early in life. I remember having grey hair in my early teens, so by my early 20's I was over half grey but I was already covering it up with every natural color known to man. I pacify myself with the oft phrased remark that grey hair is a sign of great wisdom LOL. But then obviously I have not always been so wise, but of course one can grow into it with life experiences, and the lessons gained in the school of hard knocks that often bring forth the fruits of wisdom like no other- though not without also gaining many nicks, and dents in ones once reasonably polished armor.

Years back when I was married, my husband preferred me to have really dark hair, so in order to please him I dyed it a very dark shade of brown that looked almost black against my milky white skin which is common in my Celtic ancestry. My skin has always been very light, so I personally thought that the really dark hair on me really did not look natural on any level at all, and the upkeep was more than I truly cared to maintain, however; he wanted me to keep it dark brown/black as was his ex-wife’s hair had been, so I dyed it dark brown/black in order to keep the peace, and well, I guess in my own way to compete with her, or rather his memories of her in days gone by as they had been high school sweethearts gone bad once the reality of parenthood had manifested itself.

After 8 ½ years of having my hair a very dark shade of brown/black to please someone else and our subsequent divorce, I dyed my hair a very white shade of blonde to please myself, since at the same time I’d be also staying within the budget of my new single parent status. You see I found that after dying it so light I now only needed to dye it every 6 weeks rather than ever 4 weeks once it was the white blonde. The negative thing was that I found that after my hair was dyed the white shade of blonde, then I was treated like a sleazy ditzy bubble head who was apparently too simple minded for some people to employ, because it seems that when my hair was the white blonde, then I was for some reason viewed as being far less than average in intelligence. The main reason that I had chosen the white shade of blonde was to escape the skunk like effect of the grey streak of grow out. I wanted my roots from grow out to far less noticeable whenever it began the natural grow out, and so that it gave me an extra week or so before the re-coloring process.

Later I found after a several unsuccessful job interviews, and also noticing the lady interviewers disdainful rolling eyes at the sight of my hair. Desperate for a job, I then decided to dye my hair a med shade of red which was much closer to my natural color growing up which had in my teen years been a nice medium auburn chestnut color. I definitely did find it much easier to obtain employment as a red head which mysteriously seemed to give me considerable IQ points in the eyes of potential employers. With my very next job interview I was actually hired on the spot on my very next interview as a redhead by a woman, but socially I still found that I was being treated like I was some kind of a morally loose red headed woman, and I received far more than my share of fiery sex crazed redhead slurs. One would not expect someone going grocery shopping at Albertsons wearing jeans, and tennis shoes, and a tasteful button-up blouse should have had such unsolicited attentions from men. Had any of the persons making such an inappropriate slur even given the common courtesy that the normal person would toward a woman that they do not know in order to address me before choosing to pigeon hole me into such an ill fitted slot, then they would have seen that their quick ignorant assessment of me couldn’t have been any farther from accurate.

Once I found out that prolonged coloring of a person’s hair can be carcinogenic, since the hair dye itself can cause cancer. In fact I later saw that there is a warning right on the box, though I hadn’t noticed the fine print. After all who does when it seems that most everyone else is doing it too? It must b e perfectly safe, or the manufacturers wouldn’t be allowed to sell such a carcinogenic product. After a cancer scare that touched my life, I then made the decision to not allow vanity, or other people no matter who they are dictate my life choices. I decided that I would never-the-less just be true to myself and who I am warts and all so-to-speak, and thus just let the chips fall where they may.

When my hair was dyed various other colors, and I was judged for whom others thought that I was, moreover; I felt that their judgments were all based on a fictitious idealization of who they thought I was, or whom they thought that I should be rather than who I actually am, since most of them didn’t know the first thing about me at all.

My natural hair color is nearly all a very white shade of grey, and in 2000 I walked into a beauty shop with 1 inch of grow out, and said cut off all the color, because I do not want any dye left on my hair. My natural hair color reflects who I am better anyway. As I always have been all along, I am simply myself, and no one else who others might perceive me to be based on any fake hair color. I do not feel that I should feel the need to impress anyone except God, and He naturally loves me just as I am anyway.

I figure now, if other people feel the need to form an opinion about who they think that I am or how they think that I live my life, then they are letting someone else rest, and also that at least I have the right to take it truly personal, since this is the real and natural me without reservations, and without any pretentious aesthetic vanity. While I do wear makeup from time to time, I do not allow anything to dictate my identity, or my destiny.

Yes, I am far from perfection, but I am true to myself, unique, and genuine none-the-less. I figure that my approach to happiness then makes other people’s problem- about how they think that I am, or how they think that I should be - their problem alone! Aesthetically If they do not accept me as I am, then I do not need them in my life.

To my knowledge, which I hope is reliable, I have always liked the same type of girl,

someone who isn't afraid of putting me in my place, confident and silly, with passion, brains and a great rack of cds;

not really, i'm a leg man for sure

Lord, this thread could have delivered so much innuendo!

So anyway, if you are about, stay hidden, you are safer that way!

what i wouldn't go for is anyone from plenty of fish ! - not without checking them out real deep - as someone who joined the site from the beginning and the uk forums from the beginning, over the first 12 months u got an education with the 'problem' of 'free' sites. So, ok,,,,,after 9 months away, i got curious as to what's the present state.

After about 6 months, of joining this site, the head fishy of this site did us all a favour by exposing, if only for a couple of hours, the 'nonsense' profilers on this site. And we learnt;

1) Many profiles and photo's on here are false - (what a surprise) and
2) Many profilers have a seperate profile of 'male' and 'female' persona.

What was good about pof, was that they decided they'd had enough of this and deleted all those with 'multiple' profiles. What was even better was, when they did this, people sent messages of complaint to the big fishy as they have had to re-do another complete profile and user name (as their profile had been deleted) - to which the big fishy replied by putting up all the profiles the said person had from that computer - which usually amounted to 8 to 15 different profiles. To which the profiler would reply, well, my mother/brother/sister/friend of my brother/friend of my friend also use my computer etc, etc - it was hilarious - no, doubt some innocent people were caught up in this, but the vast majority were seen for what they are - frauds !!!!
...........and i see some of those are still active on the uk forum still - well, sad life!

The few dates i had from the site were either 'players' or 'married' or 'living with someone', no big deal, i still enjoyed their company. But, i would just say to those new to the site or only joined over the last year - have fun with the forums .....but thats it - Go to any 'meets' as thats the only way to see the reality of all this annonymous claptrap of on site profiles and what people try to appear to be.

Oh my type of guy, definitely has to have a sense of humour, the kind that dont take lifes ups and downs to seriously, flap around like a headless chick at every problem, that kind...Definitely nice eyes and a smile that lights up his face mmmm.

Lively, and not scared of showing feelings...none of that macho flex the muscles, men will be men talk....Not saying a guys got to shower you with flowers but romance in sweet ways once in a while, yes....then you can go watch all the footy you want lol

Someone who respects my space as much as they like their's, so clingy is a definite NO NO ....a guy who has interests and hobbies of his own, so you have both got things to chat on when your together, not a guy who wraps his whole life around you, oh my god that would suffocate me.

If a guys a boob man then hes had it lol, cos mine up and went :-)

Definitely lots of cuddles when your together.

Hmmm when i was younger i went for bad boys.....then i got married to someone who went to church lmao..but he turned out to be a bad boy...confusing!! lol
Anyway, i seem to me be more attracted to dark haired men, taller than me, can cook, have initiative, can hold a decent conversation, likes kids, no moustache or beard (can't stand them sorry!), i love hairy chests (but have been out with guys who haven't got them), oh and can have a laugh and joke with......
Isn't materialistic either...and certainly doesn't think money is a huge focus in their life...

i HAVE to think they are attractive, call me shallow if you want but i dont understand how anybody could have a relationship with somebody they didn't find attractive!?! I dont have any specific type to be classed as attractive though, i dont prefer blondes over brunettes or owt like that they just have to have that certain something that catches my eye!! This also goes hand in hand with personality though, i have met laods of gorgeous girls who, as soon as they open their mouths just shoot down in my estimation! Personality and looks are on an even level for me, you cant have one without the other, it just doesn't work like that!!

Reasonably attractive, although Ive found some quite odd looking people attractive in the past. Funny - must be able to make me laugh. Fairly intelligent but not too much.
Oh and a fat wallet! No didnt mean that though I like them employed - and sexy - think that's all.

You r right dorset, but not everyone is a nut or fake, when you go to anysite on the internet you do risk meeting or chatting with fakes, players, n nuts,
I have met a nice friend on this site, we dated n although we didn't click, he was a real nice guy n we remained good friends. I guess there is risk anywere u meet someone, I met my ex-husband thru my grandparents, n still it didn't work out, there are no warranties that just because u met someone thru the church, family or not this site they will be any better, lol some r even nuts without ever been in pof site, lol
