Posted: 3/16/2008 3:59:53 PM | | i have a house in kusadasi, earthquake insurance is compulsory it cost 166 lira a year so not so expensive, the cost of living is cheaper if your dont want europeon food , the markets remain the best option for mosts needs and the taste of the fruit and veg is so good. yes i agree turkey has along way to meet critrea for the eu, but many turks ask do they need it vast enough to be selfsufficient and the usual story of eu investment will increase the cost of everything | |

Posted: 3/16/2008 4:21:46 PM | I go to Olu Deniz at least once a year, on my own last year for a much needed break away from it all, and I love the place, its safe to go out at night alone, the Taxis are cheap and the bus service in first class mini buses, is even cheaper..
The markets are great and the night shopping a bonus..
A beautiful place with fantastic sea and beaches..
The island cruises are a brilliant way to see and dive in the clearest of waters..
Most have a comprehension of English, politeness and courteous behaviour are the norm..
Excellent eye candy ..

Posted: 3/17/2008 2:15:56 AM | I went to Altinkum years ago and it's still my favourite place in Turkey though I have been back to different areas since.
The beach is perfect, the town is gorgeous with a market in the centre, the food is superb and the Turkish are lovely people.
Can't offer any rel advice but Altinkum is lovely! | |

Posted: 3/17/2008 8:19:10 AM | | i go to turkey every year and have done for the last 18yrs in july, i absolutley adore turkey they are all friendly and will help no matter what, i have plenty of friends over there. if you are going then go somewhere that is not touristy otherwise you will get charged triple the prices. it is still cheap but we went to bodrum last year and it was about £10 for 3 courses which doesnt sound alot but when i started going it was about £3, we first went when i was 7 been going backwards and forwards ever since. it amazing place. i was going to live out there but then got pregnant so i as not happy. i did have a job in a bar aswell but had to let it go. you will be fine on your own so dont worry. | |
