| Canucks Posted: 3/30/2007 9:44:55 AM | In all honestly, I don't see any of the canadian teams challenging for the cup this year. Canucks and Montreal have a chance to go deep, Ottawa will choke as per usual, and Toronto and Calgary will go nowhere without major improvements (Toronto in scoring and defense, Calgary in help for Kipper besides Phaneuf and Hamrlik).
My pick for the cup? Pens :P Right now, they can burn any team without a god in net :)
| Canucks Posted: 3/30/2007 11:42:30 AM | | They will if like Emondton last year they get to the final. Canucks will be canucks and montreal must make the play-offs first, they could be like Carolina last year. Ottawa needs to get there as well. They be comparable to a New Jersey, minus Broduer. If Calgary gets there,LOOK-OUT. Toronto be toronto. Compare them to Pittsburgh, but factor in lots of luck. That would be the Pens problem.Bring-On a Broduer,Kippersoff or Luoungo or even a Emery or Raycroft and nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, hey goodbye. The league would LOVE them to get it,that be Rechhi be there. My Preference be any Canadian team but if not Dallas or Anahiem,Nashville in a stretch.Everyone else go golfing early. | |

| Canucks Posted: 3/30/2007 11:54:21 AM | So, musicnut, you're saying that, if a Canadian team reaches the Stanley Cup final, like Edmonton last year, that they will seriously contend for the Cup? Wow...really going out on a limb with THAT statement.
Canucks will be Canucks. Good one. Are they supposed to be anyone else?
Ottawa is like New Jersey without Brodeur? Exactly how do you figure that? Ottawa has 3 of the top 20 goal scorers in the league. New Jersey has....oh that's right...NO ONE! Without Brodeur, New Jersey is like Columbus.
Compare Toronto to Pittsburgh? In what way? The fact that both teams have 22 players on their roster? The fact that they all wear skates?
Honestly musicnut... do you even WATCH hockey?
| Canucks Posted: 3/30/2007 2:23:32 PM | ^^^^^jokester your only encouraging the nut with your comments....just keep vewy vewy quiet lol...
anyway nice win by the canucks last nite....lets go for 1st or 2nd in the division
cheers A | |
| Canucks Posted: 3/30/2007 8:40:19 PM | it be nice to see luongo grab parents record even tho it is pretty much meaningless in todays nhl .
as for the canucks in the playoffs i think we could beat anyone so we may be the sleeper team that no one picks in there pool ..
| Canucks Posted: 3/30/2007 10:33:01 PM | | Well there seems to be a surprise team every year in playoffs , Flames in 2004 and Oilers in 2006, maybe this year be the year that CAN NOTS surprise us! highly doubt it though. | |

Well there seems to be a surprise team every year in playoffs , Flames in 2004 and Oilers in 2006, maybe this year be the year that CAN NOTS surprise us! highly doubt it though. I'm not sure it would be much of a surprise, though. Granted they've been choking in the playoffs for about a decade now, the team is still good enough that it can be expected that they can achieve more than they've been able to in the past. Edmonton's surprise run came on the heels of picking up a good goalie just before the playoffs. The Canucks are not entering the playoffs this year with the likes of Cloutier, Potvin, or Burke minding their net. Even Auld was better than that cast of characters, but he was an excellent back up... as a starter, just not nearly as consistent of a performer as Luongo. I don't think making it deep in the playoffs would be all that surprising with Roberto in net.
Also, the team is more rested this year because of Luongo. Not like with Cloutier where they had to always score 6 goals just to win a game. They're actually going to have some energy to play in the playoffs because they didn't have to spend it all just trying to make it there.
| Canucks Posted: 3/31/2007 4:38:22 PM | | Even te last two Cup winners were a suprise. At least they are in the Play-offs. How about the fact that tonight they can greatly decrease the chance of the flames even getting there. All that ho-ha over that battle of Alberta. The Canucks got a better team then Edmondton had las year. Without Roulsson they be like New Jersey. The Aul for Luongo trade, what was Florida thinking? They be the Florida team that will never get a Cup. The teams that don't have to score lots of goals because of goaltending get the Cup.Great teams can do it whichever way they please. We got a decent back-up too. | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/1/2007 12:32:28 AM | | man that was a GOOD game tonight the 3 period was exiciting sucks we lost tho | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/4/2007 12:30:21 PM | Hurray! Canucks get another 2 points!
Who would you guys like to see the Canucks face off in the playoffs? I woudln't mind seeing them play either avs (if they make it) or the Preds<
| Canucks Posted: 4/4/2007 1:30:20 PM | | We will know too soon for our opponents liking. Damn...Flamers made play-offs. Avs would be a better warm-up for second round,if you can even get there. Predators won't catch thier prey. GO CANUCKS GO. Hope Sakic retires soon. Canucks be thinking round two already. Right Flamers? Preds a real long shot. Snow Melts. CANUCKS ROCK. | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/4/2007 5:03:35 PM | its gonna be the sharks or stars
;) | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/4/2007 7:45:46 PM | | The Stars are the only easy first round draw in the West. Turco loves golf too much to be interested in hockey in May. At least that the theory I've come up with to explain how he could so consistently crap the bed in the post season. | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/4/2007 10:32:24 PM | ^^ haha. That was a good one=) Ya i think the star would be the best bet i guess. I cannot belive the play off are like ssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooooo close!!!! OMG !!! Im soooooooo Excited!!! ahhh!!! hehe Its all I can think about!
Go Canucks Go | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/4/2007 11:39:10 PM | | Sharks will never, ever win a CUP. Stars get weapons back from last CUP team. And geesh they won CUP with Lightning in 2004,against Flamers. Stars, like Flames and Canucks are a long-shot to go anywhere. Mighty Ducks and Red Things are in thier way. Then there be Wild and Predators. Lots of Canucks fans got good reason tro be excited. | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/5/2007 12:04:22 AM | "Stars get weapons back from last Cup team." Which weapons are those, exactly, and where did they go? The one weapon the Stars are missing is goaltending. Stars are out in round 1. "Canucks are a longshot to go anywhere", then in the next breath "Lots of Canucks fans got good reason to be excited. " Which one is it? I can already hear musicnut after the Cup is won, coming on here saying "SEE I TOLD YOU". geezuz dude, I think in the past week you have picked every team in the league to win the Cup, or at least have a good shot at it. You're riding so many fences you remind me of an Eagles song.
Oh wait, there is ONE team you've eliminated: You say the Sharks will never, ever win a Cup (although you give no reason whatsoever for that statement). Well I thank you for that musicnut. I didn't have a team to cheer for. Now I do, if for no other reason than for you to NOT be able to come on here in June and brag about some prediction.
| Canucks Posted: 4/7/2007 5:02:49 PM | Speaking of Stars.. it's Dallas vs Vancouver in the first round.
And island jokester.. does it really bother you that much about what musicnut is saying? Seriously... take a breather, and calm your nerves before you blow a fuse.
| Canucks Posted: 4/7/2007 6:00:36 PM | I think that's the best possible match for the Canucks. Vancouver in 5.
As for my responses to musicnut's comments, I'm just trying to make sense of what he is saying, vaerstille. If it bothers you that much, stop reading my posts.
| Canucks Posted: 4/7/2007 7:39:37 PM | HHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YYYYYYYYYYYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CANUCKS FIRST IN NORTH WEST SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HHHHHHHAPPPPPYYY!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!! | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/7/2007 7:50:17 PM | | First-round match-up will be a good warm-up for next round. Tampa's got Sydor and Lukowich back from thier last cup-winning team and they won another one with Tapma in 2004,remember Flamers? They need defence because Turcotte is no LUONGO. Vancouver got more offensive punch though. GO CANUCK GO.BRING IT ON. | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/8/2007 2:01:36 AM | alright canuckleheads looks like our destiny is the dallas stars should be a good series
i say canucks in 6 :P | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/8/2007 3:23:11 AM | my predictions for first round are
wing vs flames - wings win preds vs sharks - preds win wild vs ducks - wild wins canucks vs stars - canucks win
anyone have any other pedictions..?
| Canucks Posted: 4/8/2007 9:46:35 AM | yeah and they are on the playoff predition page.
what are your reasons for who wins?
looks like a great year of first round macthups. no clear fav's at least in the west.
go flames go in sutter we trust
| Canucks Posted: 4/8/2007 1:15:24 PM | | GO FLAMES GO. Because they be that ticked at losing to Edmondton and bewhooz0 k and who-sucks,the Flames be thinking about what didn't work in 2oo4 and they got a better team now. Always remember,Kipper and Iggy contracts are on the line. SHARKS IN SEVEN,beause they are the sharks. DUCKS IN FOUR,same mind-thougt and advantage as Calgary. Hopefully CANUCKS in six or seven cause Luongo is a god and Nazzy is back and the every 13 years thing. | |
| Canucks Posted: 4/9/2007 12:42:52 PM | yeah this yrs first round match ups gonna be some awesome hockey
on the canucks note tho last time the canucks faced the stars in the playoffs it was in 1994 *hint* hint* we won 4-1
