| when the words just come..... Posted: 11/29/2007 9:25:53 AM | Very nice to see you back again Devine...and to leave with us one of your favourite Christmas carols, may this holiday season be truly blessed for you and your family.
I would have to say my second favourite would be:
Oh Come All Ye Faithful Joyful and triumphant, Oh come ye, Oh come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him, Born the King of Angels Oh come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.
Oh Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing all that hear in heaven God's holy word. Give to our Father glory in the Highest; Oh come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. All Hail Lord, we greet Thee, Born this happy morning, Oh Jesus for evermore be Thy name adored. Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing; Oh come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Oh come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

A golden haired maiden looks out her window a vision she takes in of a cold snowy day as her eyes look downward she finds her children joyously at play boys throwing snowballs giggling girls building a snowman a smile warms her face as she rubs together her hands chilly is her room empty with her man gone off to fight thinking of him out there in this weather gives to her great fright a battle call had been sounded despair brought with Christmas only three days away desperately she prayed that again to their home he would make his way their children cried when they learned he must go yet as he dawned his battle gear eyes of their young boys illuminated a glow for to see their father as a man who would stand up to fight caused in them great pride brought to them delight his words to them were swift they must protect the women while he was gone promising through fierce hugs that from them he wouldn't be gone long back in time for Christmas was a promise he made that day told them to enjoy each other go out into the snow to play a tender kiss he gave to his wife whispering I love you in her ear I shall return to you my darling of that he told her to have no fear with sword swinging from his lithe hips footsteps upon a snow laden ground made their way now this young mother awaited his return daily and did constantly pray embracing herself tightly she continued to watch her children play so free yet her head would turn off to the east hoping for his sight to see nothing could be found through snow that swiftly fell that afternoon all she could silently hope for would be that he would return soon......

| when the words just come..... Posted: 11/30/2007 2:44:32 PM | A cold winter night A rap on the door Messenger saying "Have news from the shore A great fleet approaches War ships from the sea The council is meeting Please come with me" Grabbing his cloak He knows he must go He kisses his wife He'll share what knows Long hours pass She waits by the fire Will it be war Or the peace she desires He walks in the door She knows right away He will go out to fight No words did he say One look told her As she looked in his eyes She knows it is war He walks to her and sighs He looks at his maiden His children asleep To leave them again Makes his heart weep Yet his is a warrior Must protect the lands He'll fight for his family From enemy hands All night he prepares He checks over his gear Making his plans For the enemy out there Daylight approaches Soon he must leave Thought interrupted By a tug on his sleeve His youngest is smiling As he looks down so proud His voice close to breaking He speaks somewhat loud "Be brave my young son For the enemy is close Guard your dear sisters When I return we can boast Listen to your Mother Keep your blade near You are the man now Until I return here" To his wife he walks He hugs her real tight Not wanting to leave Not wanting to fight No words are spoken As their eyes do meet Her hand on his chest Feeling his heart beat Yet he must now go His men he must lead He walks out the door To his big waiting steed His men have all gathered To battle they go He looks at them all Can't let his fear show Not fear of a battle Or wounds or bloodshed But fear of leaving them This he does dread His daughters and wife Run for a last kiss Holding his children And the wife he will miss He then mounts his steed He shouts to his men The battle awaits We'll bring peace here again The ride off as one Through the village they go Families are waving Line the streets in a row The reach the last hill Before home's out of view The warrior is pausing One last thing to do He dismounts his steed He plants two large banners The ones his love weaved A show that she matters With a wave of his hand A tear on his cheek He remounts his steed To find those that he seeks | |

| 10 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/3/2007 6:21:50 AM | A Red Neck Night Before Christmas
Twas the Night before Christmas, and all through the shack
Not a creature was stirrin’, cept the lice on muh back.
The skoal cans wuz nailed to the screen door with care,
With hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were sleepin’, all snug in their beds,
While visions of tractor pulls danced in their heads.
And Ma in her nightgown all stained with pound cake.
Had just settled down to watch Ricki Lake.
When out in the driveway, a loud noise I heard,
I opened the winder to check muh T-bird.
I ran to the door, like I’s on a mission,
But I tripped on some parts from muh granny’s transmission.
The moon shone outside, the hound dog wuz barkin’.
Muh daughter weren’t home yet, she wuz still out parkin’.
When what to muh whiskey blind eyes should I see
But a Chevy S-10, pulled by eight flyin’ sheep.
With a fat nasty driver, so disgustin’ and sick
I said “Shoot Fire!” That must be St. Nick!
More rapid than X-lax his wooly sheep came
And he belched and he hollered, and he called ‘em by name.
Now CLIFFORD! Now VERNON! Now LESTER and ENUS!
On FESTUS! On ELMER! On ROSCOE and CLETUS!
From the top of the shack to them there garbage bins
Now Dash Away! Dash Away! Dash Away youins!
I heard a loud sound on the roof of muh shack.
Pud down muh beer and went fer muh gun rack.
He fell through the roof, plum killed my dog,
I swear that ole’ Santa looked just like Boss Hog.
He wore a T-shirt, rebel flag on the front,
And his jeans were all bloody from that morning’s hunt.
A big nekkid lady tattooed on his arm,
And he wore black boots that he’d picked up in ‘Nam.
His eyes, how they glazed from too much Wild Turkey.
From the side of his mouth hung a stick of beef jerky.
A scar on his cheek from a fight with the cops.
The veins on his face looked ready to pop.
The butt of a Marlboro clung to his lip
He wore a hip pack full of B-B-Q chips.
He had a fat face and a hairy beer belly.
I ain’t seen one that big since muh ex-wife Shelly.
He was gap-toothed and dumb with an I.Q. of three
And I laughed cause that redneck was smarter than me.
A wink of his eye, a fierce shake of his head,
From his hair came a rat that ran under the bed.
He reached in his sack, sipped his gin and tonic,
Then filled the kid’s stockings with Hooked on Phonics.
His toys came from Big Lots and they weren’t very nice
But he had lots of them and yuh can’t beat the price.
He gave us a tape of them hound dogs that sing Jingle Bells.
Some Crisco, some Spam, some Oatmeal Cream pies,
And a Nascar T-shirt in Double X size.
When the presents were gone and he had no more,
He staggered and stumbled right through muh screen door.
He hopped in his truck, to his sheep gave an order
“Hurry up youins! To the Tennessee border!”
And I heard him cry out, with a strong southern drawl,
“MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU REDNECKS! MERRY CHRISTMAS Y’ALL!”
YEE HAWWWW! | |

What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace. Agnes M. Pharo

| 10 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/3/2007 6:30:45 AM | Candlelit Heart by Mary E. Linton
Somewhere across the winter world tonight You will be hearing chimes that fill the air; Christmas extends its all-enfolding light Across the distance...something we can share.
You will be singing, just the same as I, These familiar songs we know so well, And you will see these same stars in your sky And wish upon that brightest one that fell.
I shall remember you and trim my tree, One shining star upon the topmost bough; I will hang wreaths of faith that all may see -- Tonight I glimpse beyond the hear and now.
And all the time that we must be apart I keep a candle in my heart

| 10 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/3/2007 11:49:51 AM | Embrace Me
With a fire to warm us add a touch of romantic flare candles burning all around this night together we will share one we have been waiting for where we will simply be gazing into each other's eyes deep love expressed for the other to see whisper softly in my ear tell me how much you love me so hold me with arms so strong let our bodies in unison flow music softly playing my wish finally has come true this long awaited night has come for here I am embraced by you.

| 9 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/4/2007 10:29:27 AM | | A three-year-old gave this reaction to her Christmas dinner. "I don't like the turkey, but I like the bread he ate." | |

| 10 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/4/2007 11:01:14 AM | PUTTING UP THE CHRISTMAS TREE
My 10-year old holds the strings of lights as we go round and round the tree, Christmas carols playing in the background
I tell the story of the Christmas tree I purchased three weeks before my eldest was due, and viewing the decorated tree I proclaimed: "The baby can come any time now!" and I went into labour at dawn
I share the significance of certain ornaments, like the fabric ball over-studded with silver pins presented with pride by my eldest at age seven
the Christmas photo ball with my youngest as a baby at the beach, playing with beach sand he would eat, the sand reappearing later in his diaper
the dated ornaments commemorating twenty-two years of motherhood and Christmases shared with three sons I have adored since the moment they emerged from my body
"I like decorating the tree with you", my baby announces as we stand to admire the tree. I take in his angelic face. "I should gift-wrap you and put you under the tree", I tease, ruffling his hair, and he grins

| 10 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/4/2007 12:38:50 PM | Nice to see you stop in my dear friend "Garden Squirrel", been awhile but am so pleased that you shared your poem with us that speaks of family traditions...trimming the tree is such a wonderful thing to do with our children, as we go down memory lane when we look at each precious ornament from years past. Thank you.
This weekend we will put up our tree ornaments from past we shall see ones made at school or given as a gift christmas carols playing shall provide a great lift I am thinking though that my two cats in this tree will play those twinkling lights shall blink hard to keep those rascals away I remember one year a cat was perched in my tree snuggled up dozing truly it was a sight to see so time to put up the tree all of us gathered around smiles will be of plenty laughter providing a joyous sound....

| 9 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/5/2007 7:19:06 AM | Good morning everyone:
9 more days to go away I will be from this cold winter snow flying up high to my loving man where each day of him I become a bigger fan
"Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

| 9 days to go....woo hoo Posted: 12/5/2007 11:15:06 AM | Be Bold...
So many searching looking for love to be found yet "I wont do this or that" I'm keeping my feet on safe ground it will just happen many seem to think love will just arrive simply in a blink finding this treasure takes much work with time things just dont happen you have to walk over that line reach for fate when a chance arises be bold if love begins to stir within your heart let it take hold do what you must to truly keep it there then almost magically two lives become one to share........

| One day to go... Posted: 12/6/2007 6:42:30 PM | The Last Night
Tonight’s the last night I’ll send emails with love To the man I adore, sent from heaven above No more long distance phones late into the night Tomorrow he’ll be for good, I can hold him so tight Tomorrow’s the last trip, the last plane to await The distance will be closed, sealed is our fate The time so awaited at last will be here To make this our home, something we cheer Our families to merge, two hearts so intwined To begin the rest of our story, together for all time

| One day to go... Posted: 12/6/2007 8:46:33 PM | Congratulations to all you couples, the Beasts, the Fudds and the Garden squirrels....for "going the distance"..... | |

| One day to go... Posted: 12/6/2007 9:45:18 PM | Dug this one up from the other year, wrote it for a card to a friend who's favorite aunt had died:
Life is but a moment, a touch, a kiss, a hug, we share it in passing, the touch of two souls.
There can be no measure, nor a definition, no one tells us that but in our heart, it knows.
Let each moment touch you, knowing that it will pass, but remembering it, now part of your whole.
Like the flower that blooms, in passing sheds its seed, multiplied in force returns, in each one, life grows.
And for each thats felt it, that seed is within us, nourish it, and share it, now part of your soul.
