Squirrel you have made me smile
can just see you over there
typing all the while
spreading cheer
like a happy squirrel that you are
trust in that
your wishes have travelled far
nut bred love
has become in here quite the thing
making us all swing so merrily
our little animal hearts sing
I thank you for your addition
giving us a a little ditty of a song
may your words take us into this new year
that all will capture truly what their heart does for long

To grow old together
is all we wish for
simply to be together
we need not ask for more
This long distance
has greatly helped us to see
that there is no happier place
than to just together be
Precious is time
we've learned this it's true
how quickly it seems
we can go from elated to blue
We know this is real
for we have made it thus far
this never could have lasted
if we had just wished on a star
It had to be strong
to endure being apart
substance was greatly required
to keep this from falling apart
So we sit here today
know that a life together is what shall be
a lifetime my darling

Posted: 1/4/2008 7:38:10 PM | I've come across this poem and found it outstanding in the questions it asks as far as whether or not you really want something bad enough....each one that is posed to the reader I found myself answering yes to , in terms of wanting a life with my dear Hunter.....
Thought I would share it with all of you:

Tomorrow marks the date of the "One Year Anniversary" of this thread, when a friendship that brought warmth to two hearts had been fully forged, and flutterings of a new love were beginning. Yet there was distance, do these two people take that chance that this could be what they both had always dreamed of finding?
I've decided to recap for myself (over the next few days) as this thread has almost turned into a journal of sorts for me, of my fondest memories of this past year. To all that have followed our story and continue to do so, I truly thank you. For all of those who have stopped in along the way to offer best wishes...I thank you. I pray that we have inspired hope/belief in at least one soul out there that true love can be found....it's not always easy to obtain, but it truly can be done.
To the Squirrels:
What a great bunch you truly are
swinging down from afar
offering support to help us on our way
hoping you all remember wonderous play
we thank you for being here
know in our hearts you are all held so dear.

With a heart full of discontent
finding that most I met were not "heaven sent"
I was elated when you approached me
a true friendship it seemed I was about to see
we chatted sweetly as friends which was so much fun
no pressures attached for we did not think "we had found the one"
opening up our inner souls is what brought us closer I feel
I knew I could confide in you for you were another that was so real
each day this friendship became stronger
our chats became then oh so much longer
instinctively each day I would look for you
something within me said I had to have you in view.......
Yet this distance kept me from thinking there could be more
of my life involving someone far away I couldn't go through that door
you continued gently to creep slowly into my heart
I didn't realize it what was happening until one day words came to me with a start
to my ears I heard words "I love you"
blew me away this I know to be true
I'll never forget that day for as long as I live
a man from far away was offering all he had to give
could I feel the same for this man from the deep south
would these words utter from my mouth
I had to meet him to see
yet in three days time those exact words came from me
for I had fallen in love with "who" this man was inside
I loved him with a heartful of pride
and so in poetry I made our journey real
I let this man truly know how I did feel....................... | |

Their Journey Continues....
Poetry did so sweetly flow
your talent for this I did not know
good friends joined in to rhyme
"squirrels" they all became in no time
don't ask me how this came to be
just that they started swinging in from trees
all were excited to play
so glad that new love was finding it's way
anticipation grew of an upcoming meet
many were on the edge of their seat
would it be real once they met
none of us knew that answer yet
love could be seen though through their writes
how they told of speaking for hours each night....
It seemed March would be the date
yet this southern man just couldn't wait
determined was he to meet his Wabbit
poetry he wrote described his new found habit
so February now it would be
a Valentine's meet that would set two hearts free
so squirrels, a wabbit, and a Hunter continued to play
counting down till that fateful day......
Plane ticket purchased, held it in his hand
seems that this Hunter was off to check out new lands
a day came after a long wait for him to fly
Wabbit was in a panic as this stranger to her crossed winter skies
would he be all she dreamed for and more
questions flooded her mind for she knew not what was in store
never had anything like this happened to this country girl
yet with a smile on her face she was ready for a southern whirl.... | |

A plane had landed
a meet was now in store
driving to pick him up
Wabbit's wracked to the core
Would he truly be
all that she hoped for in her heart
could these two so wanting
make a brand new start
When eyes first met
they knew it was true
sizzling was this connection
of it being real they both knew
As per the plan
magic pizza they made that first night
her young daughter had planned it
so they followed this recipe tight
Wabbit fed him this magic pizza
a smile lighting up her face
dizzy were they both from this romance
lost were their hearts in space
A kiss was needed
to seal her daughter's plan
love flowed through the air
as they held each other's hand
One look in his eyes
told this Wabbit all she needed to know
magic pizza started it all
now their love took on it's own flow
Time spent together
sealed fate for them to continue on
when they were together
in their minds hummed a sweet love song
Sadly soon they must part
life had to take him away
yet plan they did of their next meet
right down to the day
March would take her
to his southern lands to roam
now it was Wabbit's turn
to view Hunter's home
So with love blooming
two hearts beating with love
Hunter returned home
through blue skies above...... | |

'tis an awesome test, but a terrible plight
to testify thought by thought and to be heard
by lonesome eyes hanging on every single word.
Hunter and Wabbit prove true by this test.
And by all tests conceivable they come out the best.
So be of good cheer for one day they will marry--
