I would have walked to the ends of the earth for him and with him, but finding out someone has a secret 40,000$ GAMBLING debt after a year and a half put a little damper on the heaven on earth view that I had of our relationship. I wanted a plan to fix things,and he creid and than ran away from me.
Seems very much that this character has a gambling addiction that he is not prepared to get help for, not for you and not for anyone. He is correct by not dragging you down to his level, and it's best for you to leave him be if he is not prepared to seek help.
If he honestly loved you, he would do what was necessary to make things right, and that means seeking help for his gambling issues. Question is are you prepared to confront him about his addiction, and stand by him should he seek help?
