| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 7:29:22 AM | | i have a suggestion.. why not have a wing night at two different locations.. one in the south and one in the north.. that way people can choose which is closer to them and therefore more convienent for everyone.. It is not necessary to start a redundant thread for the second one. just mention where it is... | |

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 8:45:33 AM | Excellent idea Metrosexual man - all that is needed is someone to plan the other one as this one is all I can do.
We all know the saying.......Plan it and they will come.........
I've noticed too much talk about it and not much action in planning another event in another area of the city.

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 9:43:46 AM | Hey can I jump onto the biatching wagon..... ( Kidding there dear )
Can this new place make a dble paralyzer with no ice that doesn't turn out to be cottage cheese ..??? ...LOL
It would appear as if "we" are a thrifty bunch.. hmmmm. Well not me... ( hick-up ..been to two wing nights..never even tasted the wings... been too busy enjoying the "breasts"...LOL )
I won't be makeing the trip "way out there" ;....but I'll also NOT biatch.
Balewiresie..your doing a great job, don't let all the "peanut gallery " comments get to you. I look at it this way,.. no matter what anyone does..theres allways people who will biatch about this or that... Chill baby, it's part and parcel with dealing with people.
Kudos for the organizing ,.....and yes ALL you suggestion / remarks types... go ahead and "take the bull by the horns" and organize something, somewhere "closer" to you... otherwise.....zzzzzzziiiipppp it.!
There now you owe me that fiver sue to sticking up for you...

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 10:13:47 AM | Okay, not planning, just suggesting, as I said earlier, would plan, but due to health reasons cannot guarantee I will be there....so, I am not familiar with downtown restaurants, anyone who knows of one central that is reasonably priced, post away, Dylan O'Conners was mentioned...no sense starting two different threads for one thing! That way, both are here and people can choose. Options are key I think, telling people this is where we are going and when is not fair and can ruffle feathers, as we have seen! Give everyone a choice and bare in mind expense and location, location, location! Sue, I gave you kudos early and will again....I also don't charge for stating my opinion!
Okay, as Edjoe so eloquently put it, as only he can, I will zip it!
Have a great day everyone!
Oh yeah, just in case some people forgot, this is a public forum and anyone can biatch, voice their opinion, or, just plain post whatever they like!

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 11:36:14 AM | | Gypsy67 - I was asked to plan Thursday Wing Nites and I am - thats it. I know that everyone is not going to be happy with the location, the cost, the food, the management, the staff and god know what else, but thats not my problem. Those who want to attend will and those who dont wont. I appreicate the kudos and I thank you, but this location came up as a quick Plan B to have a wings nite this week after TR's wouldnt accomodate us. If there are 6 of us (as I think that is all right now who has committed) so be it. If there are more better yet, but what people do is up to them. At the end of Wings Nite the group of people who attended will decide where we want it next week - thats it - not "an order" as coors suggested (i'm sick of trying to spell it backwards) just what the group wants. So to everyone who is complaining - its ok as this is an open forum, could you please start a complaint/suggestion for wing nite thread as when I posted this one it was about seeing who would be attending and in my humble opinion the lack of decisions or planning from anyone else is just getting in the way of this event that is allready planned and is going forward. As many people have mentioned - if you want to do something else, have someone else plan it. | |

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 11:51:34 AM | | Okay Sue and Ed, I started a very casual Wing Night thread. Sue, it happens to the best of us, people not liking the "plan", but, it is part n parcel of planning an event! I hope you guys have fun at D Jay's, I have been there, excellent food! | |

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 12:25:01 PM | Oh Ed - you are 2 funny.
Owe you a fiver - nice try Bucko! I found a place that the drink special is Paralyzers (now about the no ice and cottage cheese hmmm) well you wont know as you wont be there - so there you go! Just 2 much fun going on here.

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 12:43:07 PM | | I would love to go, but, I do agree with some of the others, it is not centralized at all, way too far for me. Maybe next time. Hey, where are you Jean Bean?? | |

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 1:54:48 PM | I'm just curious...Why would only the group that goes to D-Jays make the decision as to the next wing nite? Why not post it in the forums such as on that other thread thats been started...I dont feel its fair to leave the ones out from the decision about wing nite just because we can;t afford to go all the way almost out at the perimeter....
Anywhooooooooooooooooooooo just my two cents
Thats my story and im...Stickin to it~
Have fun whever and whatever you all decide to do tomorrow night....Lifes too short....Live long...and party harder!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 1:59:36 PM | | Country2rock - before you and Icebergf joined the wings crew - I listened to a lot of complaining about people wanting something in the east - actually many requests were for the Smittys on Regent. So I said the next one would be there and planned it. As it turned out no one from the east that did all the complaining, attended and all of the people that did show up (regular wing nuts) drove across town. I felt bad as there were many comments from people who did support the function and drive across town. That is why I'm doing Thursday Wings Nite in this end of town for now. Not trying to start a fued - just doing the best for those that attend - thats all. | |

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 2:02:28 PM | No i didnt think u are trying to start something lol...I just said that maybe a vote on wings nite locations would be better left to all in the forums other then just those who are in attendnace at the restaurant...thats all | |

I have never got out to a Wing Night anywhere YET but think I want to wait until Wing Night includes a full fledged food (or feud) fight a la Animal House with the spirit of John Belushi present. Now there would be an entertaining evening.
Just winging it.

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 2:17:55 PM | country2rock>> I'm bus bound and so is Thorndyke (who lives up North Main) and we try to make it to a gathering no matter what part of the city it is in. Like you I live on a disability allowance and if I have the money to go I do and if I'm broke or not up to it, I don't. Both Thorndyke & I were part of the group that went to the Pony Coral on Narin that Jean Bean organized (which had a fantastic turnout & she should do it again) and I would say around 75% of the POFers there where from totally other parts of town. We have done wing night at Smitty's across from KP but it is always crowded. The Pony Coral on Narin has a very nice area in the back but I leave it up to the ones that did attend to give their opinions on the food & service. I grew up in Transcona and I think we have done most of the larger restaurants out that way. Of course we could always book a section of the Royal Fork for an all-you-can-eat gathering but they are not licensed and I think for some people that will kill that idea for them. And if any one really gets a vote, it should be the people who show up at the venue who can then say what there issues are with the location. I can see too many people voting for some place and then 'they' don't show up and only the people that regularly do end up going to some place that is out of the way for most of them and the people who wanted the venue are no where to be seen.
I have NOT seen you do this but I REALLY hate it when after a venue has been set and more importantly contacts have been made with the management that others grip about it and even try to derail the plans. If someone wants a location they like or in their area... ..........ORGANIZE IT THEMSELVES..........
Jean Bean did and it turned out great and she had NEVER done any gatherings before!
Sorry country2rock, I didn't mean to dump this all at you, most of this was not aimed at you, it just came out and wouldn't stop.

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 2:57:54 PM | Hello, Guess who.......... I have not posted to this here Wing Night..... And to see My POF Id posted wasn't good.... This has just gotten out of hand.....I was not involved.....
People will go where they want to go, or not.... People will post what they want... Where they want....
On other threads on here people post other places and times to go over the orriginal posted place... There is no sense in singleing people out, cause I think we all do this.....And this is what happens on the forums...
Everybody Just have fun where ever you wind up or not...
Thanks to people who ever you maybe for planning events!!

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 4:23:20 PM | I have been biting my tougne abit on this, I tried to help out haywire with other places, but you guys take a pill, if it's not out your back door the next one will be, and yes there many who bus it along ways, and man, I wouldn't kudo's to you who do. I would not, because of so little free time I have. Doing a event is like running a government, you will only hear from the unhappy ones, and very few for the happy one's. Now until the snow melts and we have access to a more central place for all, we just all have to suck it up. Stick together, work together, things will grow.
MKD bring back sunday brunch.
Just my 82.34 cents worth

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 5:00:05 PM | | Prettygirl ... it may not be central ...not at all ...but ....I do believe wing night has been held in Transcona .... way down pembina ..way down main ...you name it. Why not down Portage Ave? | |
|
| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/10/2007 5:25:06 PM | Haywiresue...I think what you are doing is great...don';t sweat the feedback. It is just feedback...
It'll all work out in the wash. I think when wing night was a traveling show...we didn't wear out our welcome ...as quickly...just post and go!!
We've all been part of planning something!! It isn't an easy task!!
Maybe how MKD was doing it for a while we just went when we could..someone said hey I'm going here and a few showed up! ..
When we started out...there was about 10 people!! This is a wonderful thing to experience when...so many comeout and meet!
It is all about meeting...when I joined..there was nothing like this! so embrace what ever events you can get to.. .stop whining and if you can go ..GO>>>if you can't well use some mannners!

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/11/2007 8:41:37 AM | I must humbly submit that I can not attend this evenings festivities. Parental commitments preclude me from partaking in wings this PM. Thanks in advance for your time.

| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/11/2007 9:38:48 AM | The Last one I attended was in December when TWO places were organized....Smitty's on Regent.....Tony R's on Pembina
Both were very well attended....tho I can only vouch for Smitty's where a whole 'wack" of us showed up
At that time it seemed to me there was only comments on the threads about who was going and who wasn't able to make it (for whatever this or that reason)
I SUGGEST : before the Mods get fed with this....that when we post on THESE SPECIFIC threads...we keep the comments limited to whether we are going or not
If you wish to have an open forum on new locations POST A NEW POST indicating that.
I know many of us don't care for rules but lets try to stay focused ON TOPIC here ok....
Why am I bothering to put in my points?? Because I just really hate having to wade through negative comments and come back comments of justification just to find out where a wing night has been planned and who is committing to be there...so call me selfish !!!
|
| Thursday Wings Nite - Jan 11/07 - New Location Posted: 1/11/2007 9:45:38 AM | ^^^ "selfish" ........
Drama, drama, drama .......... never before seen on POF ........
I couldn't agree more - either you're going or you're not ........ and you'll catch the next one ....... or start a different one ..........
