I just learned how to ride this past year. I bought myself a "beginner's" bike. I took a structured class, got my license. Now that I have had the time to get some experience and practice, I am ready to graduate to something a bit bigger.
Take it from me - if you have no clue - you can't handle a Harley. | |

Posted: 3/19/2007 6:50:19 AM | I just picked up a free cycle from a friend moving out of town....plan on customizing it into a fun ride for my GF to learn on (500 cc, low seat height, perfect starter bike)!
Will that make her hotter than she already is?
Not really....but the leather pants surely won't hurt! 
Make sure you take a motorcycle safety training course. They will teach you most of what you need to know. Then get a street and trail bike. No bigger than a 250cc. Then go out and ride back roads, trails, and play in the mud. This will teach you more about handling a bike than five years of street riding, and you can still ride it around town. And not being afraid to ride in the dirt gives you more outs in an emergency situation.
Great advice....I teach all my friends in the same manner. I've got a 250 enduro for just that purpose!

I have been a Avid Harley Man for 35 Years( also a State of Colorado Certified Motorcycle Safety Awareness Instructor), I OWN 5 Harleys, and How I build My "Bikes" , and How I "Look" when I am on them, is For Me To Decide, as it should BE for YOU!!
I have Bought Harleys for Women in My Life, Taught them HOW to Ride, and HOW to do "General" Work on them too...
Can You Pick-Up your Bike(If you ever lay it Down)? Got to Hold it Up, to Ride it!(Go lay it down in the Yard[without Gas], and Pick it Up...
Can You Kick-Start a Harley? Better Learn that One too(Just in Case your Electric Starter Craps out), or [LOL] Can You "Push-Start" it??
Don't worry about How "HOT" You LOOK while On Your Bike, instead: Worry about How Well Your Skin is Protected, You ever get a Big Dose of "Road-Rash"(I hope You don't, but Ya never know what happens on the Road), and You will Know Exactly what I'm Talking about(Been there, done that)...Besides You Can always "Look" HOT "Underneath" all Your Leathers...
What do YOU "think" a Harley Chick is supposed to "Look" like? Are you On that Harley as a Fashion Statement, OR Because You "Love" To RIDE??

As for the appreciation for efficiency, a woman who rides a Harley is because she DOES appreciate a well crafted machine!!!!!!!! It's also called taking care of your bike, and I've done "proper tuning" of a well crafted machine" and it's called "Harley" all the way.
P.S. I've never been called "butch" either in any way shape or form, there goes that old stigma against Harleys again!!!!!!!!!!!!1 | |

Women can look "hot" on a mountain bike if they are really "hot".......... I have seen very "hot" women hiking up 14,000 foot peaks with all of us that climb and it is not the hiking shoes that make them "hot"........It is their total body type, looks, personality, style, and finally their clothes.....
As a Harley rider, I would suggest that you take classes to understand what you are getting into, and get your motorcycle license that way. They use smaller cycles that are easier to handle and learn on. Then I suggest you rent some cycles and see what fits you and your body type.
I enjoy women who ride their own, and those who want to be on the back of mine. I do wonder at times when I see a smaller woman on a larger bike, how she will handle it if it leans while she is not prepared for that. One thing is to make sure that both your feet can touch the ground flat footed when you are stopped, or you can have a big problem. This goes for men also, as I have seen to many smaller men on larger bikes and in trouble when then can not have a real foundation under their feet when needed.
Most women seem to like the lighter Harley's and even have them lowered to fit their body frame. All of this depends on the rider and their ability to handle the bike, no matter the size.
One last thing.........It is the person and not the bike that you enjoy overall. How many will look at a real "hot" bike and see that the owner is just not "hot" at all, and then you just enjoy the bike and forget the person....lmao.....
A "hot" rider, no matter the bike, will still be and look "hot" on and off the bike.......

I grew up riding dirt bikes and street bikes. The whole concept of learning to ride a Harley is because they are a much more powerful piece of equipment.
Someone asked me why a Harley... It' s not about the name-brand, or being perceived as "cool" because of the name of the bike. It's because I went out and looked at them, and for the money, (let's face it - $22K for a bike is not cheap) I wanted the best. After talking to SEVERAL people and visiting many shops, I just liked the look and feel of the Harley better. | |

Posted: 5/3/2007 8:18:43 PM | I signed up for a basic rider course in September (earliest I could get in) but I can't wait to learn so I enrolled in another class in another state (in July). I can't use this one for my license since it's out of state but I figured the more practice the better. I wonder if taking it twice would help lower my insurance. :-)
Since I'm new at this I have a few stupid questions....are there any bikes that are safer/easier to handle? I thought a harley would be more stable than a sportbike because it's bigger. Is that true? When I'm finally ready to buy a bike will I be able to find a pink one? No I'm not kidding. | |

Not sure if I'd be 'swept off my kickstand' by a female rider decked out in pink leather, but one who can cruise and camp w/me in the still sparsely-populated parts of America would be hot. Especially one w/ long hair who knows just how to shake it after removing her helmet. | |
