| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/12/2007 3:16:42 PM | | Micro..."The Piano" was a re-telling of the classic, "Lady Chatterly's Lover." I can see how some people would find it hard to follow, but being a DH Lawrence fan myself, I was fascinated by it. It's mainly about the female lead overcoming her emotional and sexual repression through her relationship with Harvey Keitel's character, the jealousy and rage her newfound independence and "voice" evoke in her husband. Wow, I just outed myself as a "nerd" didn't I? LOL | |

Wow! No, not at all. I guess I really didn't catch that. It sounds a little sophisticated.

| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/12/2007 3:44:11 PM | | I tried reading Ladt Chatterly's Lover in High School and couldn't even get 1/4 way through it. I'll have to try reading it again. I think that there should be fundraising marathons for women of sexual repression. Don't you guys agree? | |

In my junior year, I wanted to shock the hell out of my honors English teacher, so I did my term paper on DH Lawrence. It made quite a splash. I got an "A," too. Little devil, I am!

| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/12/2007 5:55:24 PM | I'm going oldies here. The one movie that always reduces me to a blubbering crying idiot is *Imitation of Life* with Lana Turner. The entire movie pisses me off but...the ending always gets to me | |

*Imitation of Life* with Lana Turner Is that the one where the mother works a servile job and provides everything she can to make her daughter a good standard of living, only to be scorned by snotty daughter? If that's it, I have to agree, excellent!!!
My fav is also an old one, a Brit, "Brief Encounter" with Trevor Howard and Claire Somebody-or-Other. What a beautiful romance and dignified, honorable ending. Boo hoo hoo.... I love those scenes in the train station, simply gorgeous in old black-and-white .

| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/13/2007 9:43:31 PM | My favorie tearjerker movie is:
The Philadelphia Eagles loosing to the New Orleans Saints tonight because of their own stupidity of shooting themselves in the foot, with stupid penalties!

| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/13/2007 11:20:29 PM | | ^^^^Yeah, now I remember watching it on TV years ago with my mother. We both liked it a lot. My mother knew it from when it came out, I think. | |

I'm crying there with you, Bob! Although, I think that it's good that they got this far.

And although it never got widely distributed, I thought 'Starry Night', the Vincent Van Gogh quasi fantasy/sci-fi movie, was a particularly poignant tearjerker, too.

| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/14/2007 5:22:13 PM | I'd definetely have to go with The Notebook. I was trying to see how many times I had to watch it before I didn't cry, but that hasn't happened yet. I'm a pretty emotional girl though so I cry watching alot of them.......hopeless romantic ya that's me. | |

| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/14/2007 7:05:24 PM | I was out on a date and remember a grown man crying at the end of the movie, The Bodygaurd.
I admit, it was a great movie and would watch it every chance I get. But to see a grown man cry at the end where Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston kiss outside of the airplane, was funny.

| What's your favorite tearjerker movie? Posted: 1/14/2007 7:32:39 PM | Well, since we were on a sports theme there for awhile, I'll throw the ending of Field of Dreams into the mix. I think that is one of the most finely crafted movies I've ever seen. And for any guy that wishes he'd had a chance to have one more catch with his father, well...
(And if you think the Eagles were a tearjerker, cast your eye on the ice--the Flyers bring tears to my eyes three times a week! )
