The best possible way to bring a child into this world is through love and I could not imagine it otherwise.
I could never understand the urge being a mother, single mother for that matter. A child needs parents, both parties and actively involved to understand the gender, respect, trust and affection. Its transparency stays with the child thoughout its/their life.
No money could pay enough for the feeling of carrying this little bundle inside me and then being parted. Child is not a commodity!

| If you were offered Posted: 3/3/2007 10:22:42 AM | All jokes aside..If someone offered me a 100k to have a child..I would deem them insane for even THINKING that I could (or would) put a price on becoming pregnant for their benefit, or mine.

| If you were offered Posted: 3/3/2007 11:44:45 AM | I don't think I ever would, and especially not for a stranger for money.
The only time I would ever consider it, would be if my brother or sister were married and were unable to have their own children, and had tried the adoption route and failed. Then I would consider being a surrogate, because then atleast you still get to spend lots of time with the child and be the favourite auntie :)

| If you were offered Posted: 3/3/2007 5:50:42 PM | | Well, I would not surrogate for money but I would do it for a dear friend. I actually did offer this to a friend when I was single.... She despratetely wants a baby, not something I would offer anybody. | |

| If you were offered Posted: 3/3/2007 9:01:59 PM | what worries me is when these children of sperm and egg donors grow up...what if two children made by the same sperm donor were to meet and fall in love...then found out ...yikes... i can see this being a topic on future talk shows...i remember the doctor who was inseminating all his clients with his own sperm and not the donor that was selected...
There is an info bank where a person can check this..Each sperm or egg donor is given a number. and If the person finds a mate who was also concieved this way (unusual) they can check and see that they did both not have the same sperm donor.
I think that Dr was jailed..
I have nothing againts women being surrogates..as this is the only way some people can ever have thier own biological child. It can lead to trouble Some may remeber the case of "baby m"..The surroagte wanted to keep the child..I believe the child was biologically her child and the sperm of the donor/father (if I remember correctly (??) the egg was hers )

| If you were offered Posted: 3/3/2007 9:20:38 PM | I had considered it for my brother and his wife when it looked as though they'd never have children of their own. Turns out she managed to get prego just before testing was to be done on me to see if I was capable of carrying (I have my own health concerns.) It wouldn't have been so bad because I am very close to my brother and his wife, and I'd have a huge role in the child's life.
I could never do that for a stranger though...
Hmm...Actually, I wouldn't say no to two million dollars, and I hated every minute of my pregnancy with my son. Being a surrogate uterus wouldn't be so horrible as it would not be my child I was carrying. I'd still bond, no doubt, but at least I could be sure of caring parents who would go so far as to pay millions to have their own child. I couldn't do it if the DNA was my own though.
Unfortunately, I am not sure that is legal...

| If you were offered Posted: 3/4/2007 9:32:22 AM | | Of course surroagcy is legal...If someone wants a surrogate all they have to do is call the right attorney..or advertise in the paper.. There is supposed to be a limit on what you can pay them..(reimburse expenses) but noone sticks to that. | |
