the grafton rooms on west derby road is a good club to have a meet..its one of the oldest and best established clubs in liverpool..it has a good atmosphere and there is never any trouble in there..and its only a mile and a half from the city centre...and there is plenty of pubs and bars near by....and they have private rooms upstairs for functions....

All Scousers that I have met, and I've met a good few, talk about the Grafton as a grab a granny night I think that it is probably a similar club to the Ritz on Whitworth st, Manchester. That club is pure cheese but yes, you can have a right laugh in there so yeh Grafton it is....................Bring it on, forget lock up your daughters, lock up your mums

they have a grab a granny night on a thursday i think...its a real ole famous teddyboy club...but it is real good for a laugh..and no young chavs in there...and it is always packed..there is never trouble..my best mate was the head doorman in there for 15 years..but he retired a few years ago..and he loved it there..hardly no trouble what so ever..so everyone can just have a good laugh and a good time....

PS: grafton nooooooooooooo, somewhere classy please, at least to start. Albert dock, Tea Factory, Heebejeebies is cool these days with outdoor part to it for us smokers. Could always start it earlyish on so quite for people to chat before it gets busy later on..

Well I'd be more than game for abit of scouse loving. So long as you could guarantee me that my car wouldn't be up on four bricks when I go to collect it in the morning.

Well in actual fact I think Manchester has a worse crime rate than Liverpool but I wouldn't park my car in a side street in either of those cities. More often than not when I go for a night out in Liverpool I catch a train and so far nobody has pinched the wheels off that yet.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should have bought myself a hotel instead of a house

Tristan...

I would of emailed you...but I'm not God. HOW many restrictions?!

No use everyone saying count me in...unless someone is actually going to volunteer to be the host/s.

I agree with Tristan (that's a bit feckin posh for these parts ) ... not the Grafton FFS or The Rat & Parrot. *groan*...not my cuppa cha at all 'fraid.
I particuarly like Norweigan Blue, don't know others that Tristy La mentioned.

I'll go...but I won't host a Liverpool meet sorry Ferni

VVV

Aye, your right it's it's an ideal spot to find...just IMO the pub itself is very lacking ... I'd be ashamed to take people from outside Lpool there...

The only reason I suggested the Rat and Parrot was because it is easy to find loads of space and usually not too many people in plus there is a possibility of having BBQ's on the balcony in the summer. Granted it's not the trendiest place but I think you would struggle to all find each other in alot of the pubs in Liverpool. I'll look forward to something getting organised and I'll probably attend but I don't think I am interested in hosting a pub meet it's not where my expertise lies.

Not too sure about Kirkby as it's too far from the city centre.
A decent meet would need to be in a central location of Liverpool and where better than the city centre !!!!!
There are lots of places to have a look at but if your renting out a function room it would be an idea to see if it has it's own djs ...... if nt, how about Flares in the city centre, theres about 4 Flares bars and they do tend to be very popular seeing as it's a 1970's theme bar, they seem more popular thn the actual 1970's.

I think a PoF get together would be great in Liverpool, there seems to be loads of nice people from roundabouts, would be great actually getting to a meeting!
I think the Rat and Parrot is a great idea!

So as this has not happened yet... take the plunge there is interest everywhere in the UK surely…

We need more meet nights happening in the UK, and it would be especially nice if those that cannot make the whole weekend to party at the Summer Festival had some where close to home so the whole of the UK is partying together….???? Any Takers????

Remember the golden number one rule! Do not pay out any of your money for an event you are NOT allowed to recoup the monies from the meet attendees…. So FREE FREE FREE is best, and if you find a nice little welcoming pub, they will provide things free for you after they see their profits increase….

It is really easy to host… a Aqauplane says….

Organising a meet isn't hard. Organising a meet where loads of folk turn up to the first one requires a bit more work but small is beautiful and from little acorns mighty oaks grows…

Party meets are a bit dull but easy to start with. Find a venue with a room for about 50 folk, free preferably, and book it and then come back to find out about how to work PoF which isn't hard but best if you do it right. Oh, I forgot, you need a couple of mates so someone can do badges while the others meet and greet.

First meet you will be dead nervous and clicking on everyones profile to try to learn who is who and wondering if anyone will turn up, basically trying too hard. On the umpteenth you will be so chilled you will wonder why you didn't do it years ago and forget the felt tips for the badges, sod it who cares?

Get back if you need any gaps filling in.

Did I say it is best if there is no charge? Well it is. It may be hard to find a venue for a W/E night but charging a door fee opens a whole new can of worms that is best left unopened.

VV The site needs 2 weeks notice for a meet thread with a green link from inboxes. For a bit of publicity for your first I would give it a month, that's on the site, you need to find a venue first. You could do one in 4 to 6 weeks from now if you got your finger out. I'm not saying there will be hundreds of attendees but there will be some. Start small and build a reputation for a good night out and wonders happen.
