For good measure them that another family member is a prosecuting attorney and that in your spare time you help the police department train dogs!!! GOODBYE!!!!

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 8/29/2007 6:26:18 PM | These scams have been around for quite a while, certainly for the past 4 years or so, A lot of them do use Yahoo as well, this is not a recent thing.
A lot of the original scams have died off as people have gotten wise to them, there are always new versions of these scams appearing and without wanting to sound racist, any originating from Nigeria or that part of the world should be treated with caution.
There is a good site on these scams called 419eaterdotcom.....this will give you an idea of the sort of things they are up to and there are some hilarious stories on there where the tables have been turned around on the scammers too. Well worth a look for a good laugh.

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 8/29/2007 7:48:01 PM | I have come across these guys on yahoo and match.com. If they don't already live in Nigeria there is usually a reason they have to go there. They can also be from various places in the US, UK and I even had a couple from Spain and Italy. As they say if they sound too good to be true they probably are and don't send anyone money.

Posted: 8/30/2007 8:27:13 AM | | I was asked to send them $250 so they could buy a cam....thought they would at least have a Wal-Mart there. If you eventually get one to get on a cam (which they do have) if you atch carefully you can see the person in view is not the person typing. They have been getting better all along getting their scams out. Wish there was a way to completely block any user from that area.

I just got a letter in the mail from a lawyer in africa. He wanted me to contact him through yahoo due to money I am to receive from a long lost relative who recently died. What lawyer goes through yahoo.
A Nigerian lawyer, and ,you'd be surprised how many fall for the BS.....I think I'm safe though I like sending them play money and silly putty. Might send some play dough, too. No pun intended! "HA" !
Just ignore them, they'll go away if ya block em....

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 9/8/2007 2:06:09 PM | Just ignore them,
I dont think so, I added him to my messanger. I plan to make him think he has me conned so I can make him waste his time and make him feel stupid in the end. I love pissing them off. I like the play money idea. Maybe I will color notebook paper to send. Thanks for the good idea.

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 9/8/2007 2:20:10 PM | | I've gotten a few emails from people on yahoo claiming to live here but live in Ghana. Makes me wonder, just how is a country that is supposed to be so poor able to afford so many computers for the scammers to use. Plus, if these idiots put as much effort in getting a real job or doing something to actually "help" their country as they do trying to scam other people, they'd be a pretty dam wealthy country. They're so stupid they do not realize most people have already heard of most of their scams and won't fall for them. Sadly tho, there are still many that do, unfortunately. | |

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 9/8/2007 7:23:45 PM | Here is a 'copy and paste' from an email I got from someone named Olabode Ojo... This was the first email from him/her too! "Hello sweetheart, and how was ur day hope everything is going fine with u there,so sweetheart i just want to tell u that i have got my visa now and just to let u know that i will need money for the tricket now and the tricket will cause me $2500 for the tricket sweetheart,so pls try and do something about that baby because i want to be in ur place by next weekend. So pls sweetheart get back with me with a good reply. I LOVE U" I wrote him/her back and said "you must have bumped your head". Here is the second email... "Tell me how much did u want to give me honey pls try and do something about this now." needless to say.. I blocked the email address but he/she still tries to get in touch with me thru other sites... those email harvesting 'friend' sites. I've gotten real good at using the block feature..... | |

Oh puhleeeze. You sound like you came from a grass hut yourself
"I picture these guys in their grass huts or whatever all looking at this shiny new computer and thinking up these scams, as if they were the only people in the world to do so. I mean someone should maybe send them a blanket letter drop like they did in iraq that says."
Jewel... you just reminded me of the first thing my former co-worker, Kwame, said to me. "We do not live in trees!" It was kind of awkward, 'cause I hadn't even said anything yet. He must have been having a bad day.
It's true though... people who talk about grass huts are generally ignorant.

And what a place to start,I've only heard of the ones on dating sites. Some people get on the site and are already feeling a little vulnerable, and get scammed for more and more money.Hopefully a co-worker or a friend will advise them to watch out for them, before they get tricked by it.

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 9/8/2007 7:58:41 PM | | Speaking of these idiots...I had one constantly hitting on me on Yahoo IM. He posted a photo of a nice looking man and said his name was "GIFT OWENS" - Well in my wildest dreams I could not fathom any rational American naming their kid "Gift." I asked him where that name came from and he said his parents were so happy when he was born they named him "GIFT." I haven't stopped laughing yet. He finally asked me if I could "Help him out" because he was from "America", but stuck in London and just needed to borrow enough for a plane ticket to get home. Said he would send me a cashier's check to cover it. I suggested he buy his own plane ticket, using the money he would have used to buy the cashier's check. It confused him some...I got tired of his begging and blocked him. So beware of the "GIFT!" | |

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 9/8/2007 9:07:22 PM | Actually i am a victim of 1 Nigerian scam. Had a girl named Sarah and had all the tell tale signs you guys speak of such as I Love You in the first frickin email she/he sent me and that she/he misses me so much.I hadn't even messaged this person at all and they say they miss me, their fathers dead and their mothers missing, and asked me to get yahoo messenger in the 2nd email, well i didn't know about Nigerian scammers and all this crap that goes on. Now i do and i fell for it(go on laugh right here)this has to be stopped someone has to act on this crime surely. Man makes me think about why the world invests money into such a country when they commit such crimes through these scams.Absolutely beware people if they're from Africa and they say they love you and that thay want to marry you on first contact through im it's a blatant scam. | |

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 10/10/2007 3:29:20 PM | There are a few here at POF. I know of one who is gone.
I hope no one has to go through this again and I think the admin. here at POF handles them quite effectively. I was oblivious to this type scam and luckily got suspicious before any great loss. (loss of trust is painful though)
Anyway, retribution so no one ever go through this again by this one particular scammer was my salvation of sanity. Hopefully, I can put up this one link. It explains alot and has tons of information for future victims.

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 10/12/2007 2:49:52 PM | Please, please ladies be very, very weary of a couple of posting from men from Rocky River stating they are a widower for 6 years and the wife and daughter died in a car accident going to Florida, and they are left with a yound son. This son, I was told, was rushed to a hospital for an operation in the middle of the night. The hospital calls while we are emailing each other and they are throwing the child out unless the dad comes in with $1,500 - 2,500. Oh, a good one too, he is an antiquities dealer and has a home in Holland. His siblings and he had and argument over the parents spoils after their respective deaths. He will give you an address on Center Ridge Road in Rocky River, and supply you with a Western Union phone number to send him the money toot sweet. There are more than one of these posted. Write me if you want to know who they are.
You have been warned. | |

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 10/12/2007 6:37:10 PM | Sometimes i talk with them and lead them on . I tell them all sorts of garbage to make them think i have money. It's the funniest thing. I had one guy on a plane coming to canada thinking he was going to be meeting a wealthy lonely woman desperate for love. Oh man i wonder what he thought when he showed up at the airport and no one was there ?
Of course this was not a nigerian scammer but what i call a citizenship lover . He will love anyone who has citizenship.

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 10/12/2007 8:35:32 PM | A lot of the Nigerian scammers are already in the country they want citizenship in. They usually come, having family or a large group of friends already in place. Most use yahoo to make contact with a potential companion ,one that will marry the person.Usually setup by some Nigerian attorney that pay citizens to marry the Nigerian to obtain citizenship. After about a year they usually have citizenship then the two may or may not choose to remain married.
I'm surprised the number of people that do send money to the scammers not ever having known the people except through internet connection. Guess some are desperate to give money away...

| Apparently those Nigerian scammers are using Yahoo messenger now... Posted: 10/12/2007 8:47:25 PM | Ok, well that explains most of the messages I've received elsewhere that I state I'm ONLY there as a FRIEND. Not all, but most of the senders asked me to email them at Yahoo. I thought it was getting weird to see so many from Yahoo.
I almost never respond to them; I just collect their messages onto my blog for a giggle. If I reply at all, it's to say 'but you didn't read my profile!'

It's really obvious to me now but don't think he's the same guy. Can't tell, different pic.
The guy that was banned was working on another victim right before we talked.
Unfortunately, she sent him money: http://www.internet-love-scams.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4292

People who are trying to scam others out of thousands of dollars, (and are somehow still succeeding, especially with older people) are fair game for anything anyone wants to say to them. These people are sub-human mutants who deserve no respect or "political correctness" whatsoever. I have no issue with any stereotype anyone wants to give these cretins. They throw away their "do unto others" card when they send that first email.
The only answer anyone should ever give these people is "Oh, I know just what to do! My daddy works for the FBI, I'll bet HE can help you! I'll call him right now, and forward your messages to him!!!"
