I'm coming, Ardi! But I'm not bringing any of my imaginary friends...I think the real-live ones are gonna be enough to handle on this road-trip...lol.

This just in!!

Feeling out the idea...(I like feeling..hehe) If there is enough interest, for an extra 2 bucks a person, 50 can show up early (5:15) and do a wine tasting at Calona Winery.

Let me know if there is interest and Tree will set it up for us!

(ooops..need to teach her to sign out....lol..BC here)

hmm..now what can I say under her name??

Or bcboy could learn to pay attention - c note.

Just so happens I was planning a trip to Kelowna that very weekend. Have a girlfriend to stay with. Sounds like fun and I would love the Calona winery tour also. However, are there any others coming in the older bracket.
Also is this event set up only for the younger single POF people or can anyone come. I was going to tell my friend to just go and get two tickets. I want to do more than shop till I drop in Kelowna. Any other places that a 50's person might enjoy. I was told by a friend that Flashback is only for a younger crowd and even her daughter in her 30's feels too old to go there now.
Anyway need some help to enjoy my visit. Any advice would be appreciated.

Kootenaygal, perfect timing for you! The winery is just a tasting, not a full tour...hence the shortness of it. But good enough to get you started for the evening;)
Everyone is welcome of legal drinking age, as the venues require. I think you will find the age range of this get together fairly diverse.

I have heard that Flashbacks can be like that on Friday nights, but Sat. is typically an older crowd..some of the locals can probably help us out there with info. Our numbers are going to enable us to pretty much take over the one level of the place, so it shouldn't be an issue. And hey, if we don't like it...we can leave.

See you there!

Hi BCBOY
Thanks for the encouragement. Just want to have a little fun and it sounds like it will be that. Now I have a secret to tell you. I never told my girlfriend it was a pof thing. She would have no idea what I was talking about. When I read it here I thought it would just be a fun thing for us to do. She is going to go and get the tickets as it is very close to where she actually lives. Perhaps it was meant to be. Fate!!!! So you older pof people make plans to come too. Perhaps you know some to encourage them to come. However, I'm sure it would be fun either way. I was told the other night when I was out to an open mic night that a woman should date a man half her age plus 7. Interesting concept.
Well looking forward to that green beer.

None of us here are age-ist. You don't have to be over a certain age (except legal drinking age for this event) or under a certain age, in order to have fun. A good time is what you make it.

If you haven't told your friend that it is a PoF event, I suggest that you do so before hand...at least give her a heads up. She will be asked what her username is, or questions about online, so warning her beforehand might be best for everyone.

It will be an evening and night of tomfoolery, beer, shennanigans, beer, laughter, beer and good people. I mentioned the beer several times, because many in this group have been known to over-induldge. However there are also many that do not drink at all.

No matter what your interests, age, personality type etc. are it is a diverse group, and if you allow yourself, you WILL have fun :)

btw bc/c note I am down withthe winery aspect if there is enough interest, even while I question whether or not wine, then beer is a good idea lol

The tickets will be at the door, the night of the event...There will be no formal tickets printed as this is an event put on by the brewery just for us..It is POF and friends based.

And yes, all ages are welcomed and encouraged...ya just never know who you will meet;)

I'm definitely going to have to drive fast if I want to make the wine tasting. I'm sort of one of those guys that goes on a wine tour once a year in the fall, so yup, I love wine. 5:15 you say? I should be on the road by 2:30 or so, so I could probably make it in time. "Make it so" (Joke from another thread and event, sorry)

Woo Hoo! 54 ppl. How many people are interested in this wine tasting? Is it worth booking it BC? They would need some advanced notice I would think. Most wineries aren't open very late.
Have you asked the brewery how many people we need to cap tour @?

My grandma died on Sunday. She went peacefully. My mom, two aunts and myself were there when it happened, so that was good all things considered. I'm sad.
No more pain for her though, just for those of us left behind.

Green beer strangely enough sounds fabulous! Hectalitres of it. Maybe we can just swim in it and suck thru a snorkle or something?

I don't see enough response yet to book the winery. But you know how people are...last minute everyone will be there at 5:15..lol.. I think I will call and book it anyway.

As a matter of fact, in message number 9, I mentioned we will have to cap it at 150.

Sorry to hear about Grandma G.

What we do need is to know how many people are bringing friends, and how many friends..with 54 signed up...and the approximate number of friends that I can remember people talking about...we should be at about the 80 people mark right now.

Hi all:
Guess I better confirm for sure I'm coming. I will bring my friend and I guess I better come clean and tell her it is POF event. I actually decided to be pro active and messaged a few 50 something people in Kelowna or the immediate area and suggested they think of coming.
Will have to see how many take me up on the suggestion.

Just a reminder for those signed up to let me know how many friends you have coming..we are getting close to the capacity from the list I have!! We are going to shut the doors off at about 100 instead of 150 just so that we have room to move around!

Looking forward to it!!

UPDATE!!

Ok, talked to Tree yesterday, and the Calona Wine tasting is on for 5:15pm. When you pay at Tree Brewing, you will recieve a ticket for Flashbacks to take care of the cover charge and lineup....this way you may go there early, or later, without having to be with the group, or state that you are with any group in particular...Just show them the ticket and walk in..
Doc Willoughby's (hope I got the spelling right) will be taking care of all the food.

Any questions?

-No. You can't bring water wings or airmattresses and float about in the beer.

How much beer do we get for 20 bux? sure someone asked but I kinda just skimmed through... and what kind of beer?

sorry for not reading, but long day and I've had my fair share of crabby customers today.. and just cracked a local Okanagan Pale.

Looking forward to go.. might start it off early here though..

Soulless, they have a website. www.treebeer.com
Should answer your questions. I don't remember hearing a limit on beer, within reason.
So, if we count up how many people have said they're bringing friends, we're @ about 80. That sound right?
I feel like starting today........holy crap, two weeks? That means my birthday is a week from Saturday. I think I'll go down a year this year. It's time.......
I don't like olives, anchovies, or pineapple on my pizza for who ever is ordering it. Anyone else have preferences?
Have any vegetabletarians?

ditto on the anchovies.... they need to stay with their kind in the sea... definitely not on pizza! Oh, and no liver! LOL Thankfully that isn't an option at local pizzarias! After that...it's all okay.
Looking forward to this event with so many people coming out. This will be lots of fun!
