Posted: 4/6/2007 7:26:53 PM | brash and prof, I must say you've spent a lot of time bashing AI and seem to imply nothing good is to be had of it. That is to imply that it is not worth watching it for the music.
You cannot argue the American Idol has launched some huge careers. Past talent have given new meaning as to what a good selling debut album is. The show has also revealed performers who are the best at their genres. Chris Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, whoever that blonde country one is...Even Clay has given people hope everywhere that Barry Manilow has been cloned and will never have to die. These performers have sold tens of millions of albums. That in a day where more people steal music than pay for it.
There is some very good music on the show. You just have to stop being so negative and watch it. Surely you're both smart enough that this isn't all an act by you to get attention.
I defy you to watch Melinda Dolittle and tell me where the flaws are in her performance. She is damn near perfect at what she does. Not everyone would like that style, but you can appreciate talent when it is so good.
This is all before I mention that Hailey's legs are unbelievable! I've watched worse for less. C'mon...I watched Gilligan's Island for less Mary-Ann cleavage. Surely you can appreciate the legs.
The only reason I address this is I get paid by the conversion by FOX.  | |

Posted: 4/7/2007 6:46:39 AM | Hey Nascar... the country gal is Carrie Underwood.... and dont forget to mention... maybe not big singing contracts but Jennifer Hudson starred in Dreamgirls and went on to win an oscar for it.............. and then we have Fantasia who is starring in the broadway hit **The Color Purple*** so we have talent everywhere.... and also Katherine McPhee who is moving up the charts too......DIANA DEGARMO...she got the part to play on Broadway in Hairspray and TAMYRA GRAY she went on to star in Boston Legal, JOSH GRACIN is also recording and tours and plays country music and did a few movies and is recording an album, so American Idol has come out with lots of Great Talent.....
And i agree with you on Melinda Dolittle... the girl has the Stuff.......... and when she wins it.......she will be the next big STAR...... and if its not making albums... there are alot of avenues to go to be Big and make Lots of money................

And why the age restriction for both American Idol and the Canadian version?? I know a lot of older people i would idolize before some growing up wanna be. There's tonns of people i know that would like to have tried out for Canadian Idol, but couldn't because of age restriction and they can sing a hell of a lot better then some of those on that show..... i haven't watched it this year but i did last year and it sucked.
I'm proud to be canadian and unless it can benefit our country i have no use supporting it, but this my opinion.

And who out of all these people is still a BIG star?Kelly Clarckson????Thats laughable,does she even write her own material or is she just like all the boy bands we see come and go who are nothing but puppets,sing this way,here are your lyrics,dance that way here are your choreographers(sp?),its a joke its tiny talent time with a big budget.Idols??really ?Do you really idolize ANY of these "performers"?

I see it as each to there own and having a little fun at the exspense of American Idol is what it is all about ,never really thought someone would get there knickers in a knot over it ,but like i said each to there own .I myself can't wait for Rockstar to return now there is some real talent there and all the AI lovers can come in and bash away to there hearts content and i will laugh as hard then as i am right now ...............
