Hey, not all British TV is like Absolutely Fabulous and the Office.

My guess is that intelligent women know that men need to feel superior - like they wear the trousers - and make all the decisions - they don't like to be de-masculinated... so... what's an intelligent girl to do?...
Its a kind gesture really!!... I dont think men truly appreciate how much strength and independence we women hide to ensure they still feel they are top of the food chain..(even though the more intelligent men already know the truth about that! - Dentedknight?... ;o)
Wow. I can't remember the last time I felt so... patronized.
Please mommy, let me carry the groceries so I can feel like a big boy.

| why do men go for the ditsy thin girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 7:30:08 PM | WHOA!!! did someone just get dumped???!!! What is with the negative attitude?
I am not a waif, but I am slender...far from brainless.
But, I have no trouble getting dates. It is all about the attitude. Men like a woman who feels good about herself, knows what she likes and goes after it!!! Also they like someone that makes them feel good about themselves. In fact it takes a woman with a brain to keep a man intrigued for longer than a month.
Quite simple. | |

membership in Mensa is by definition an IQ above 133, or the top 2 percentile.
So what? A person with an IQ of 149+ and not a member of MENSA is .... ???
I doubt very much that Sable assumed all thin women are ditzy. What she meant was thin, ditzy women: as in women who have these two characteristics, not women who have the single, inseperable characteristic of being thin and ditzy.
Actually she placed the two together without an OR so, for the sake of argument, let's assume she meant what she meant. But hey, you can be arrogant all day long. Works in the boardroom and the bordello, let's not guess where you are more at home.

Errrr no! The use of 'or' denotes 'one or other'. OP didn't want to know why men go after thin 'or' ditzy girls she wanted to know why men go after girls who are thin'and' ditzy. In English it is acceptable to replace the and with a comma which becomes thin, ditzy girls. The omission of the comma suggests OP considers all thin girls to be automatically ditzy which is were the confusion arose for some of the other posters... or maybe they're just generally confused a lot of the time.... what do you think? You're better placed to understand this than me.
But hey, you can be arrogant all day long. Works in the boardroom and the bordello, let's not guess where you are more at home.
I'm a renaissance girl, at home anywhere... guess that explains my universal appeal...

| why do men go for the ditsy thin girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 8:07:02 PM | I can't answer your question, sorry, wasn't aware that men go for ditzy thin girls...however that being said... I could help you with the knowledge that there are women which find assertive, intelligent, confident, extraordinarily fit and incredibly beautiful wpmen somehow threading to they're very existence and call them names like "ditzy thin girls", its this phenomenon which blows me away | |

| why do men go for the ditsy thin girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 8:28:03 PM | I prefer women that are walking contradictions, who think really highly of themselves but don't demonstrate their qualities and leave me with the impression they are delusional. Arrogance gives me a huge erection. Especially when one marginalizes and steps on others in order to make themselves seem tall.
The women are probably more fun to be around and the guys you are singling out are more attracted to them.
Why do people like junk food?

| why do men go for the ditsy thin girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 8:35:40 PM | Well then Stew-Pit, you're gonna love this...
Once again, the grouping of two adjectives does not make them mutually exclusive.
If one were to say self obsessed actresses this does not mean that one is suggesting all actresses are self obsessed.... one is referring to those actresses who also happen to be self obsessed.
I watched a TMF special tonight on diva songsters.... I'm pretty sure the creators of the show were not suggesting that all songsters on God's green earth are divas, merely that some are and this particular show intends to discuss those songsters that are divas.
Saying overweight office workers does not mean all office workers are overweight.
Saying angry drivers does not mean all drivers are angry.
Saying imbecilic forum users does not mean all users of the forum are imbecilic.
One final thought, I love the way y'all find it perfectly acceptable to b*tch and trample all over the OP but when someone tries to interject and suggest you may have the misinterpreted the post they're the bad guy.... !!!!

No. I didn't sorry. You think my comments were directed at you? They weren't.
Once again, the grouping of two adjectives does not make them mutually exclusive.
Assuming that you understand that I was making my cracks at the OP, Yes, if you'll noticed I said "singling out". You mis read. It can and often means the opposite of your take on it. More reason to joke about it and make sure a person knows another way of percieving things.
One final thought, I love the way y'all find it perfectly acceptable to **** and tramp all over the OP but when someone tries to interject and suggest you may have the misinterpreted the post they're the bad guy.... !!!!
Then include yourself in the gang bang of love.
My comments weren't aimed at you. I haven't even read any of your replies. Except for some of the above reply. Not even all of that one.

| why do men go for the ditsy thin girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 9:01:51 PM | Yes, and my entire post wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at those who continue to believe that the OP is suggesting that all thin girls are automatically ditzy as though the lack of fat automatically results in dippy qualities.
The opening line was alluding to your post and particularly,
Arrogance gives me a huge erection.
as the rest of the post goes on to display what will, no doubt, be perceived, by some, to be arrogance; probably the same people who don't like to be challenged, especially if the challenge weakens their vitriol.
But I suppose this would explain the problem...

| why do men go for the ditsy thin girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 9:13:35 PM | "im a 20 yr old female, and i have noticed that guys would rather date the thin brianless girls with no personality, rather than having an average girl like me with good looks, GREAT personality, can hold a intelligent conversation. why are men like this?"
Okay, so if we are going upon the fact that the OP is the intelligent girl she states she is.
Why would she post her thread about how much smarter she is than the brainless female population she is losing out to, without doing a grammar or spelling check?
She has not capitalized any of the "I's" or the beginnings of the sentences. Obviously she knows how to capitalize because GREAT is in all CAPS. She spelled brainless wrong. Utilized conjunctions without apostrophes. I could go on... but why bother. You get my point!
One should not complain about intelligence or lack of, it is all in what one conveys.

Can you both get together and debate your intelligents and great grammer on the "why can't I get a date because I'm so ainal thread"
She is young and so are the guys she is dealing with. Not all men go after the ditsy girls. Not all men go after the brainy ones either.

It has nothing to do with being young. That grammar knowledge is acquired in highschool, actually grade seven. Unless of course, perhaps maybe I should not assume that she nor capt Jo completed highschool, or middle school.
And like I said earlier, I have no problem getting dates...I was pointing out the irony of her post. Yes she is young, at 19 people think they know everything. That is the point.

hOLly cRap its an inVaZion of tHe "Lets tuRn this thread into a spellling Be and go off toppic dorks"!!
This has nothing to do with spelling. Let's see if the miniscule brain can comprehend the difference between ambiguity and certainty? Not much point discussing a post if no one can work out what the post is actually asking. Although, I don't suppose that bothers some people... it's not the discussion you're after, it's the chance to post! Who cares if it's gibberish, nonsensical... doesn't address the issue??!!
Man! This thread is an incredible insight into what it's like to be intelligent and surrounded by dimwits. I've only had to suffer through a few hours... I feel for the really intelligent people who deal with the problem day in, day out!
