Would you give up your gas guzzler to end the Gulf war

he combustion-ordinary gasoline-running engine has been obsolete for fifty years. Prototypes have been in existence since the late 1940's, but the government relies on the money made in profit from oil shipments. And any company who wants to effectively release cars to the public that run on a different kind of alternative fuel rather than oil at hundreds of miles to the gallon, they risk the government's wrath.
In the Clinton administration, Al Gore sold all our oil reserves to his father's company, which was the lowest bidder. His father, in return, sold THOSE reserves to foreign agencies, making us rely on foreign oil, which will effectively bring gas prices up to over $3 a gallon this summer. The government will lose millions of dollars if a new-fueled car is mass-released, making us lose our reliance on their crude oil, and I heard that they will KILL anyone who's going to do that.
So, it isn't about the SUV, it's about pickup trucks and OTHER cars in general.
And my jeep is very effective for transportation. It gets me to work and back fourteen miles each way across town now, where even the bus line doesn't run.
So, any way, I'll NEVER give up my SUV to end a war that was already effectively ended back in the summer of 2003

CAFE STANDARD has not changed for how many years? Why?????????
bottom line......
Corp America with 90 day bottom line screwed us.
Blend the cafe standard......
little cars with a stick you average with a 8000lb high profit unit...........
Hi profit units.....never look to the future......Only bottom line.
Remember the 70's .......I bought big Chy car's to crush for scrap.
Why??????
They got 8 mpg.........
The US is buying back tech .........
If the Goverment were to lead, we could become what we used to be.
Corp America offers nothing.....

We have every day cars with 250-300hp.
That is crap...... We talk sbout gas yet higher hp than ever.......
If the focus were MPG not MPH we would be better.
I love HP and speed, however you have to pay to play.

I don't have a gas guzzler, never have, never will.
That said, giving up gas guzzlers will not end the invasion of Iraq. The []resident nitwit and those he favors (war profiteers, oil companies, and the like) are making money hand over fist.
Morons in a hurry could have 'managed' this 'war' (hey, let's call it what it is - AN ILLEGAL INVASION!) better than George and his flunkie administration, we're losing for a reason, think about it!! Follow the $... all $418 billion of it.
For the numbskulls that are so pleased George hasn't raised their taxes... it's because he's deficit spending. This invasion is not 'free', we'll be paying for it for the rest of our lives... in more ways than one!!!!!

[Given that the War in the Persian Gulf was all about securing future oil reserves for the western world would you give up your gas guzzlers and go electric or alternative fuel vehicle to remove our dependance on deals with despotic governments? ]

Not that the Gulf War was really about oil, but in answer to your question.....probably not. Wouldn't do any good at all. The US will always make back door deals with despotic governments. Hell, we created most of them!

Would I, to combat high fuel prices? Peak oil? The environment?
Yep! Already did 8 years ago....went diesel.
'92 C-1500 6.5TD........24.7 MPG (and it's a full sized truck!)
'85 C-10 suburban 6.2.......22 MPG
'82 VW Caddy 1.6L...........52 MPG (when I really like sticking it to OPEC)

Alternative fuels are RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!
Everything listed above can be fueled right from good 'ol Mickey-D's!

If the government would get outta bed with the oil cartels, and allow hemp oil production in the US, it would end any concerns over any real or imagined energy crisis. Got to say, I admire Canada for allowing at least some controlled hemp oil production.

This is going to be tough; because if we ever do get off of fossil fuel, it will either happen because we can't afford to drive at all, or because it will take a top down decision... a Nader like initiative; and politicians hate to do that. If the public doesn't like it (and collectively, we probably won't), it will be like a public decapitation for whatever president and congress who impose it; just like Jimmy Carter... and he only signed a bill to give incentives to solar power...

Here is a hint. How about allowing each person to decide for himself whether or not to get off fossil fuels? I mean, must everything be solved by force of arms?

This one guy made a car that runs on water and by product is water.

So basically water in, water out. Sort of like the turbines in Hoover Dam, which run on water.

In order for a car to be powered like the turbines in Hoover Dam, the water must flow down from an upper reservoir, through a water turbine, into a lower reservoir. Now, how long will it take for the water to be completely drained from the upper reservoir? What will be the power of this turbine?

I would in a heartbeat however, it wouldn't do one lick of good as the money would flow in from China, Russia, India and Europe. In fact, the situation would probably be worse as these countries wouldn't be paying entirely in money rather supplement it with arms and nuclear technology. The US would be back PDQ, more than likely with bombers.

I gave up gas guzzlers long ago. Even in 1971 I was driving a 4 cylinder engined car which generally got between 43 and 52 MPG. Now I have no car. When I do buy another car it will be a hybrid gas/electric...and I will drive mostly on the electricity. Forget foreign governments. American oil companies-owned by Bush/Cheney/etc-own the oil, and the drills, and the drillers, overseas. I boycott oil to hurt the Bush crowd.
