| Wondering what sort of addicitions people have or know people who more then one addiction? Posted: 10/9/2008 11:16:59 PM | Cigarettes Alcohol and Pretty Women. Can't do without any of them and a sucker for all 3. 1 will keep me weak, 2 will keep me sane while I look for number 3 lol. Number 1 is my biggest challenge. Failed 3 times in the past but ready for another go at losing the smokes. Disgusting habit that will kill me if I don't.
After watching mates fall to herion in my youth all other addictions seem petty. This drug is in my opinion the worst drug on "the market". Cigarettes are the sneaky addiction. They seem to do very little 1 by 1 but together have ruined my lungs and other parts of me are less than what could be as well. They constrict circulation causing so many medical conditions I am suprised the government has not made them illegal (oh yeah they tax cigarettes don't they hmmmm)

And yeah, you're right SSM, Heroin is a whole different kettle of fish. Absolutely tragic. Alcohol can be a real monkey on ya back too though... its hard to watch someone drink away everything they say they care about.

| Wondering what sort of addicitions people have or know people who more then one addiction? Posted: 10/10/2008 1:40:57 AM | Yes well being a great bloke has not hepled me in life one bit. The fullfilling part is that by living the dream I have helped many souls save more than they realise. I see many people go to uni and think they do good for the world by educating themselves to a point where they can never understand what the street is going through and yet they are the ones put in charge of the "street" problems. I am getting sick of hearing academics who have no real life experience in these areas make decisions and statements which many listen to and believe. WHEN YOU HAVE LIVED IT JOIN THE CLUB! until then , remember you are merely an observer regardless of how educated you believe yourself to be. Maybe some of the over educated would like to enlighten me on how my friends were too weak to survive on the street and suicide was their best option. I dare you! I would love to see some of the outspoken dropkicks live half the life some of my freinds went through. Human _ Humility there is a link here if you put your pompous asses aside and get back to what is real! Addiction sux and is never nice. NUFF SAID! | |

| Wondering what sort of addicitions people have or know people who more then one addiction? Posted: 10/10/2008 2:11:20 AM | That is one of my points. All the qualifications in the world without understanding circumstances could never save some. Qualifications in mental science etc does not equip anyone properly for life on the street and the pressures (peer, percieved or intimidation just to name 3) it places on people. Vented and settled, apologies all round. I have lost some of the truest and most lovable friends to addiction. Not easy to "just gossip" where hard memories are involved. I can say 1 thing proudly. Paul Savon was one of the best human beings I have ever been blessed to know. RIP Paul Narborough runs a close second. Via la Paul guys I still remember. Paul | |

It would be lovlely to take control of the thoughts of all man kind.....just a dream........I have lost many a friend including my own baby sister 7 years younger than me , I shall NOT judge but with an open mind i sit and listen.
I need a heart lock anyone know where I can buy one? Ebay?
My words are just that! words my heart speaks volumes!!!!

| Wondering what sort of addicitions people have or know people who more then one addiction? Posted: 10/13/2008 7:38:05 AM | By "living the dream" I was being sarcastic. No one who suffers addiction or lived on the street for any amount of time ever "lives the dream", it is a nightmare. The problem I was reffering to is that so many people go from school to university and gather all their important modules and qualifications without living on the street or in the drug world and understanding how it really is. An old man who had his knees shot out in Vietnam was shunned by society and forced to hide in any shelter he could find to avoid rain, bashings from young thugs and much more. I protected him but it didnt last forever and was finally killed when I was not around. Not good. Addicted to alcohol to deal with his nightmares, society dumped him regardless of his service and not being able to walk properly anymore. Branded as "flippers" by the common public due to the way he walked. How can society let this happen with all the "qualified" help we have. I never even knew his real name. Didn't need to, I KNEW HIM. Ponder this when thinking how you know what is best for society. We have too many "cracks" in our system and it is not improving. Media and marketing is promoting everyone to be a "bad ****" or "bad guy". With the added attitude, we are all growing nastier and meaner. Simple respect is so lost today. Think about manners. Think about how lost and nasty they are compared to past times. Hope this makes some think and smile more at a stranger. | |

Posted: 10/13/2008 3:57:47 PM | Ciggerettes were and still are mine.. dont smoke now but took 4 goes to give up (didnt use any of the things available now to give up went cold turkey) and every now and then the smell of a ciggie will trigger off a craving :(
Hopster.... There are alot of ill informed over trained monkeys working in social services ( covering addiction, DADHC, DOCS, to name a few) learning to work with or around them is hard but can be done... there are also ex addicts working in addiction services who are bad at what they do as well but on the other hand there are some brillant ppl dedicated to empowering people to make changes (not forcing it or doing it for them) and advocating as much as humanely possible. Social problems are on the increase sadly and the government is pulling funding out of services left right and centre.... government housing is becoming a thing of the past in some states, community services are being brokered out to non government services ( run by those ill informed do gooders) Mental health services are a joke... dont ask for in patient treatment because your going to struggle to get it... I have a friend who rang every telephone help line she could think of in desperation one night ( Lifeline, Mental Health Intake and others) only to be continually put on hold or told to call back. She never did manage to get through to a service that night.
The current governtment has a surplus of $2.7 billion.... with half that there could be so much done
