Posted: 2/5/2007 3:47:27 PM | So, I just wanted to give an update , I have not yet met anyone on the POF site and as a result of advice from other posters I have gotten some additional pictures , apparently not all of which are flattering to me... lol lol my picture rating went down after I posted them so I guess the bottom line is I am not attractive to the POF men....:( but.... thats cool, im sure eventually I will meet someone somewhere so I dedcided to update my profile and at this point Im just looking to make some friends and if and that is a big IF something developes than that is what will be. I will still be checking my POF mail once a week but just not counting on anything happening. Best wishes to everyone and good luck in your searches for friends/dating/long term or any other catagory your looking for.... :)                   | |

I figure that I will just make some friends and see where things go . I found a couple of posts that Im going to pop on into either tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for all your encouragement it has been really nice of everyone... even the negatively worded ones I got something from.

Posted: 2/8/2007 8:26:51 PM | Well, I have heard the last great prejudice was either against large and/or disabled people. And people do seem to forget there is more than one body type, not everyone is the same.
Out of the four children in my family, I am the only one under 5'7", my sister and two brothers are both taller than me. Neither my sister or I are supermodel types, but she is 5'7" and I am a mere 5'4"...The younger of my two brothers is 6'2" and slim to average weight. My other brother is 6'6" and is brawny, like those guys on the paper towel packages, he is athletic and plays hockey-and he is also the only married brother. And that's just one family....Yes, I am not Twiggy or even any other average height woman, but I don't fit any of the stereotypes for a full size woman either, you can read my other posts or just talk to me. So yes, I hope the full figured/BBW's here do find a good/decent guy, they are out there but you just have to find them...And I have also learned you can't rely on just one site, either, I have met men through POF, and maybe the right one for me will be a POF guy or he may be from another site, or even someone I meet offline. The important thing is not to put your eggs in one basket, like the proverb says, and especially not to give up.... | |

the simple reason is...that they are hard to make love to, and always seem pre-occupied with their "bigness".
Being big is a thing that should be avoided...it's unhealthy and hard to manage...
I figure, if a girl cannot control her eating, then she cannot control her emotions...so far, i haven't been wrong...

Posted: 2/9/2007 8:14:25 AM | We are all wired to search for a healthy mate, so that gene survival is enhanced. It is not a matter of how big you are as it is how healthy you are. If over weight, do something about it. If you make the effort and observe the required dietary discipline and exercise regimen you will live longer, feel better, have more energy to do things, think a lot clearer too, and will be capable of having an improved sexual relationship with your mate. All excuses to do otherwise puts you in a state of denial that will take you nowhere but to the point of repeated disappointment.

The girls on this site who are big are wonderful people, just b/c you are big doesn't mean you have to be a slob. You can smell nice, dress great, and carry yourself well. I have been married twice both for more than 5 years each and had great marriages, they just didn't work for other reasons, nothing to do with my weight. There is someone out there for everybody....and really you have no room to talk...look at yourself! Obviously your a un-educated man....maybe you should stop being so judgemental.... | |

I used to be overweight and am still engaged in the weight control battle. It is a never-ending process. As each pound disappears and muscle tone is gained, self esteam gets a boost as well, and that makes leaving the dinner table a little hungry endurable.

You shouldn't be PROUD to be unhealthy. Being fat is BAD. Obesity is an epidemic, NOT a fashion statement. It's NOT hard to lose the weight, just stop eating crap, and exercise. Here's how you do it...first you stop eating the CRAP. Lose some weight. Then, after you lost a few pounds and are able to run,go to the gym. Start on the treadmill. I liked the elliptical because I have knee problems. Anyways, being fat isn't cute. And stop supporting each other in your fatness. That's like a bunch of alcoholics drinking and saying, 'hey, it's cool, man. Have a drink on me.' And STOP using your thyroid as an excuse. It's not your thyroid, it's your twinkies.Trust me. | |

I would think a man of ''color'' would not discriminate so freely....I do realize that as a whole East Indians are usually slim because their diet is far better than what we have in america. But the next time someone makes fun of you due to your skin color or religion, then think about how that feels. Yes you can not change who you are, but no one should judge anyone until they have walked in their shoes.
I teach a child who was a victim of Katrina, he is here in my city now and the kids are so mean to him, becaus he is pudgy and doesn't have a lot of nice, new clothes...he's not even severly overweight but pudgy which a lot of kids tend to be at puberty....they are MEAN to him, call him names...he was even hit in the face with a basketball, hard enough to give him two black eyes....he is tormented daily and he is very hurt by these things. He has made one friend, a heavy set girl who is also not so well off and has clothes that are not ''in style''....she is tormented to, but i love the way she struts proudly by the bullies and doesn't say a word back to them, even though i know it has to hurt her, she never allows it to show. She has a great attitude.
When you put your negativity out there in the world, don't think that it doesn't trickle down to the younger generation. They see and hear the attitudes out there, and they in turn repeat them to their peers. And no child should have to be tormented on a daily basis by bullies. AND YES i have tried to talk to the bullies and get them to understand what they are doing is WRONG....but frankly they don't care...because it elevates their status and popularity by being better than others....
NOT every overweight woman cannot control their eating...that is BS....I know that I can...I have been anywhere from a size 8 to size 16....frankly to get to a size 10 i had to practically starve myself....skip meals and I was not healthy at all....i didn't exercise either. Becaus that would make me hungrier....now i'm a size 14, and dance all the time...I'm full figured and fabulous....my blood pressure is always normal...my cholesteral is higher than it should be but because i'm a vegetarian, it's not really THAT bad...I dont eat a lot of fried greasy foods...
Did anyone see the NFL playoffs and the super bowl....would anyone call those guys unhealthy? No they work out, they eat huge amounts, and many of them weigh over 300lbs....which is essentially too much.....but no one would make fun of them...or call them obese....they are paid a lot of money to make sure no one gets through their lines....Oprah is living a healthy life and exercising and still she is not the ''ideal'' size either....and she has a trainer and nutritionist and cooks readily available to help her....
a few years ago i had to take a second job and i did gain 20 lbs because i was eating a lot of mall food....i was also not able to go out and dance as much as i had done previously....I lost a lot of my muscle tone but when i gained the weight it all spread out so evenly that i wore the same size....i still do...and i've lost about six lbs....i'd rather tone up....my friend who is a fireman and bodybuilder told me....dont look at the scale...how do your clothes feel? that's how you can tell if u are truly losing weight, since muscle does weigh more....
recently a nation women's fashion magazine showed how a woman gains and loses and gains five lbs in one day....do to water flunctuations in the body....so weight itself is very tricky....

I have no medical issues from my weight. For some people it is a medical problem. And furthermore, there are some really really attractive men that think curves are great! I'm not supporting "fatness", but what I am saying is just b/c someone is larger doesn't mean they are ugly. To each his own. Everyone has different things that they call "attractive". We are all different with different opinions, that's what makes the world go round. I just think that b/c of people like you who talk down on curvy women, they are sterotyped. It shouldn't be that way. Is it right to sterotype a person of color, or an alcoholic? No....no body derserved to be pre-judged. There is a difference in a curvy woman than a fat slob. I think I'm very attractive. I take care of myself, dress nice, and carry myself well. I'm a professional in the work force and own my own travel business. I'm very successful. There is no reason why a larger person cannot have everything a skinny person has. We can offer just as much! | |

I am not fat...for one...so for those that say "look at yourself"...you know...its a natural defense to say that i'm as bad as you?
And for those who say "being of colour should make me sensitive"? hahahaha
I'm 200 pounds of the solid stuff...by the way...and a masters grad in socio-psychology, for the othrs who feel i'm uneducated...are there any more who would like to take a poke of what they know not?
I've dated quite a few types of folks...and seriously...I don't want to think about dating a fat girl again...the complications are too lengthy to even get into...
The responses I got here are enough to make anyone understand that there are serious denial problems and mental blocks when it come to understanding the issue of being overweight.
So...you wonder where the men are that like big girls...the long and short of it is...there aren't many.
I'm sorry to not have been as polite on the topic as some others...but seriously...there is a line of realty here...and no room for misunderstanding. Being overweight is a deadly thing...would I marry someone who will likely die before they are 65?
I'd try not to if I could avoid it.

As for weight, I've got limits, upper and lower. I also have reasons. For the most part, if a lady is really heavy, it is going to seriously impact a relationship with me because I am so active. Also, excessive weight is a sign of past abuse, childhood issues, or lack of self control, both issues that a man can help with.... but also issues that must be dealt with alone and resolved with time and effort.
Don't give up... just avoid the jerks bcuase being used will only make it harder on you. | |

As you gain weight, an abnormal condition, a few things happen to your body.
You start to produce testosterone. This is normally as an aid to get you to reduce weight, the body trying to defend itself becuase testosterone works as a stimulant. It also causes hair growth, masculine sweat, and a lower voice in most people.
Your heart has to force blood through the fat that is building up around your body, it also has to force more blood through your organs becuase they are encased in a sheath of fatty tissue.
Your pancreas is forced to produce almost twice as much insulin, and it will die eventually as it gives up the battle. This is not about how much you eat either, it IS to do with how much it takes to maintain the fatty desposits in your body.
Your enzime levels will be off which will cause your thyroid to produce an abnormal amount of hormone. It can be affected in two directions. Either it will produce more hormone which will speed your heart up and cause you to feel "normal", and thereby reduce the lifespan of your heart, or, it will produce less hormone and you will feel tired all of the time. If this happens then losing weight requires medical assistance.
Your bones start to deform. The excess weight, more than your body was designed to carry, causes the bones if your legs to bow and compact.
Your muscles tear under the strain giving you a very muscular structure, overly muscular in some cases, so much so that if you have an accident the muscles will cause complications with healing.
Fat content of your blood almost demands that your arteries will be clogged and calcified. A heart attack is almost a sure thing.
Lack of energy means that you are not going to be able to keep up with a person that is small. You may balk at this one, but you know it to be true. If you still refuse to admit it, then consider yourself on an extended backpacking trip in colorado. Ten days out taking your food with you.
The excess hormones, unbalanced thyroid, uncomfortableness of your weight, will guarantee mood swings. It's not even you... it's your body causing them.
Your testosterone levels will make you aggressive, often quietly steaming until you explode. Normal things that would never make you angry will make you furious. I've also found that in normally mild mannered ladies, the explosions are louder, and sometimes violent becuase they tend to hold it in until they pop.
Feet willl flatten, causing difficulty in walking.
Diets, becuase of the whiplash nature of the hormones and thyroid levels, often are not just better ways of eating, but whiplash eating where a 'eat as normal' is interspersed with draconian dieting.
So, please don't tell me there are no health issues associated with over weightness. It is an un-natural condition that is loaded with everything from extreme emotions to serious, sometimes fatal medical issues.
My advice is not to try to find a man, but to go visit a doctor, psycologist, and hormone specialist and try to get yourself into a more natural state of health.

I never asked for the reason why you personaly would or wouldnt date a big girl... I simply asked if there are men on this site who like big girls, I was new to the site and new to the internet dating thing.... Im not looking for a F*ck or an affair with a married man and I dont need to sleep with a man old enough to be my father... I have a father not looking for someone to fill his " proverbial shoes" I dont care if you are thin,I have never judged my thin friends for being thin and I have never judged my fat friends for being fat even when I wasnt. I dont care if you think fat is unhealthy , and I have never thought that one race or another prefered one size woman versus another I have dated men from all different races and find that it is just a man or womans personal prefrences as to what they are attracted to .... i dont care if you think that some ones medical issues that resulted in thier weight gain are BullSh*t ... I simply wanted to know if there were any men who WERE of thier own free will attracted to fat or larger women, they are out there , I know they are and maybe they are on this site maybe they are not... I was simply ASKING a QUESTION!!!!!!! I realize that there are some people in this world who think that they are better than others for various reasons but believe me when I when I say I just dont really give a sh*t what you have to say... I respect your opinion and I respect that you are attracted to who you are attracted to ... I dont judge you for it.... so please have a little common courtesy and respect others and for who they are and what they like or dont like... It takes all kinds to make the world go around and trust me I am fully aware that some people who are fat are that way due to poor eatiting habits and lack of exercise and even pure laziness but keep in mind that not all people who are fat are that way due to those reasons. We all age and when we get older our bodies change some for the good some for the worse, some just dont care ... get a heart and be respectful or get the hell out of the thread and find somewhere else to spew your hatefullness and remember that what comes around goes around and it usually lands twice as hard on the throw back ....ohh and by the way just for the record.. I have an almost completly nonworking thyroid and am on treatment to help correct the problem , my "co-morbidities " as Dr's call them are in fact Diabetes, with peripheral neuropathy in my legs ,which I have had since I was a child and High blood preasure which everyone in my family has had by the age of 25 ( they are all thin )all of these in addition to the thyroid issue which developed in my early twenties after the birth of my second child has made weight loss almost impossible for ME!!!!! I exersice every day for at least 30 minutes and I am a nurse and work 3 twelve hour shifts a week where I am running like a chicken with my head cut off taking care of my patients. I know that being fat is unhealthy for anyone and do the things that my Dr tells me to keep myself healthy. My cholesterol is wonderful and I also avoid red meat so take your vile comments and shove them where the sun doesnt shine if you cant say anything nice and next time read the flipping thread before you post something that has nothing to do with it anyway. Thanks for letting me vent on this and thanks for all the advise and pointers that everyone has shared about my profile.. I appreciate all good intentioned and polite comments regardless of weight/age/race/sexual orientation or marital status.
