I think Hillary is going to come back and beat Obama. I think Hillary has a better chance at beating Mccain then Obama does now. Obamas pastor did him much harm.

| Hillary or Barack: Who Is Your Choice and Why Posted: 4/28/2008 6:40:25 PM | Hey BlackPrince ! Way before anyone had ever heard of Barack my dream ticket was Hillary/Colin Powell or the opposite! LOL I enjoyed your posts. Here comes mine.
I strongly , strongly favor the Joint Democratic Ticket. Having read both Hillary and Barack's websites I find little difference in their intended platforms. I'm not certain anyone can quote a single remarkable difference in their basic beliefs about what's important and how things should be done. Hillary has worked to better the lives of the poor, women, children (and all of these universal categories strongly include African-Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans and other groups) since she was a teenager. Both candidates indicate that they want to restore/create accessibility to the classic "American Dream" meaning well-paying, stable jobs, access to education and healthcare and affordable housing. While both are religious people, they realize that science must dictate policy, n0t the other way around and that the environmental crisis, in its various aspects, is one of the single biggest causes of all of our other problems.
Given the near equivalence of these two candidates we are left with a terrible, terrible predicament. How does one attempt to sort the two of them out to select one as the presidential candidate? It bothers me that everyone is saying that race, gender and other "isms" should not or is not playing a role in the selection process. As far as I'm concerned, racism, sexism and ageism are the only factors playing a role in this primary process.
Allow me to explain. With their platforms so nearly equal.......and the candidates forced to resort to petty nonsense to highlight differences which barely exist or don't exist at all.........by petty nonsense I mean........Bill's past, Wright's comments, Barack and Hillary's slips on the long, hard campaign trail(bitter gunclinging Pennsylvanians and sniper fire...etc)....Barack's religion or perceived religion, Barack's name, clothing he's worn, Hillary's "mean-ness"........the only reason people are gravitating toward either candidate boils down either completely or partly to something discriminatory.
Since their platforms are nearly identical, the choice boils down to an African-American vs a Caucasian (When does 90% of a group back anyone???????)..............male or female (a vast majority of women are just as sexist toward another woman as any man might be)...........young vs old (what happened to the time in history when the elderly were truly revered for their wisdom and experience?). I'm personally amazed at how many of my bigotted, absolutely racist white friends/acquaintances are actually favoring Obama simply because they are more sexist than racist !!
I sit here completely insulted that the DNC is asking me to decide between a young charismatic visionary and an older, more experienced veteran (in the generic sense). Certainly we can all quote a dozen examples from history when vision won the day and a dozen different examples when experience triumphed. I simply have resigned myself not to choose between them.
For me, it's the Joint Democratic Ticket.........or I will vote for John McCain to show my extreme displeasure at my party's trouncing of either of these amazing candidates. This is an historic time and we are living it. Whoever thought that a woman and an African-American would be running for president side-by-side. I am impressed with both candidates for their similarities and their differences. One thing I do know having read both websites as well as "Living History" and "Audacity" is that each represents the best ideals that our Democratic Party stands for. Neither candidate will forget the poor, the middle class, any minority, working Americans or our great nation when elected. Both care deeply about all Americans and our great nation. Just listen when they speak. Under the extraordinarily difficult pressures of American politics, both of these people still manage to care and to believe with all their heart that change for the better is possible.
I will only support a Joint Democratic Ticket because as a woman I cannot live another 45 years facing the discrimination I have faced nearly every day of my half-over life thus far. I want equality for all. But knowing what I have endured I cannot imagine what my African-American, Hispanic and Native-American brethren have endured. it must be so much worse every day. Because these two candidates are equally viable and worthy.........I cannot condone the disposal of either. The next steps toward ending global discrimination must begin. Minorities in America must be validated. Don't you see? Choosing Barack over Hillary by a slim 10-20% margin simply allows the innate sexism in all human beings to rear its ugly head and win. And choosing Hillary over Barack acepts and thereby condones the continuation of racism in America.
Again, I repeat...........my decision is based upon the fact that both candidates are similar in their positions and similarly worthy in their readiness to lead. Consequently do not insult my intelligence by asking me to choose on the basis of race, sex or age..........the obvious differences which remain. Do not ask me to choose between vision and experience. I want both !! Either the Hillary/Barack ticket or the Barack/Hillary ticket makes history. It doesn't matter. This could be the first time in US history that a VP doesn't slip into oblivion but rather makes huge strides toward battling a particular ill of current American society. It might make sense to put Hillary in as President knowing full well that we will back Barack in 2012 or 2016.........but ultimately it doesn't really matter, either combination makes history and gives us two incredible politicians for the "price of one" . PS: I know they will work well together. For God's sake........if Barack and Hillary can't get along, how can either possibly hope to negotiate with the Iranians ???!! LOL
Barack, Hillary, I beseech thee.........put aside your nonexistent differences, allow America to return to greatness, embrace the Joint Democratic Ticket in whatever form and bask in the "Audacity of Living a History of Hope"............Kathy

For me, it's the Joint Democratic Ticket.........or I will vote for John McCain to show my extreme displeasure at my party's trouncing of either of these amazing candidates. Kathy,
I may vote for John McCain because he is seen as "middle of the roader" in the field of the Republican Party. I have read where half of the RNC like him and the other half have no idea what to do with him. The two Democratic runners are at each others heels so bad, I am turned off by their obvious mud slinging attitude. I usually vote "mixed" ticket anyway, I vote for the person and not the party. If the person says something I strongly believe in, they can sway me. I have seen McCain......for the most part.......avoiding the mudslinging hoopla!
A very well written post Ma'am!

| Hillary or Barack: Who Is Your Choice and Why Posted: 5/15/2008 4:35:38 PM | | I originally did not think much of Barack Dismissing Rev. Wright.... But after listening to much of what I have heard him say........ It seems that it is what he normally says.... I do not know if I could even begin to trust Barack.... not until he can do something to show that Rev. Wright's teachings do not live in him. | |

| Hillary or Barack: Who Is Your Choice and Why Posted: 5/15/2008 10:07:33 PM | Romandog, Another Ditto here. As fopr Mccain, the thing that dissapoints me there, is he seems to now be echoing Bush. Not that I am a Bush basher, or hater, I voted for him. But what I thought of as Mccains strength was that he has always spoke his mind even when it wasnt in accord with his PARTIES Politics. And thats what I want in a president, someone who doesnt CARE if he is republican, or Democrat. I know HILLARY cares ALOT about her being a DEMOCRAT 1st. She has proven that her time in the senate, as well as the 8 years she was the 1st lady. Bush DID try to be bipartison, but, well, the way the 2000 elections went down, The democrats werent ever going to work with a president they called openly an ILLEGITIMATE president. And yes, I think they DO HOLD GRUDGES in politics! So on that note, it is best that Bush will be out of office. I personaly dont have a problem with a woman President, Just not The woman called HIllary Clinton. I also dotn have a problem with a black president. As long as he isnt getting the job just for the Blacks. Like when Jesse Jackson ran! I dont know if I would want a BLACK president thatBelieved for any amopunt of time that the Government intentionally spread AIDES to keep the black man down! ANd has GD AMERICA in his heart. If Obama doesnt believ this, as thats what his Pastor said, Maybe he should adress that issue head on. | |

| Hillary or Barack: Who Is Your Choice and Why Posted: 5/23/2008 7:48:11 AM | this may be a repost, but I thought it was funny...
A teacher in New York asked her 6th grade class
how many of them were Obama fans.
Not really knowing
what an Obama fan is,
but wanting to be Liked by the teacher,
all the kids raised their hands
except for Little Johnny.
The teacher asked Little Johnny
why he decided to be
Different... Again.
Little Johnny said,
'Because I'm not a Obama fan.'
The teacher said,
'Why aren't you an Obama fan?'
Johnny said,
'Because I'm a Republican.'
The teacher asked why
he's a Republican.
Little Johnny answered,
'Well, my mom's a Republican
and
my dad's a Republican,
So I'm a Republican.'
The teacher asks,
'If your mom was a moron and
Your dad was an idiot,
what would that make you?'
With a big smile, Little Johnny replied,
'That would make me an Obama fan.'

| Hillary or Barack: Who Is Your Choice and Why Posted: 6/2/2008 3:57:57 PM | Part of an email I received today:
I am sorry that Barack Hussein Obama may be elected president of the United States when he doesn't have a clue on how to be a strong Commander-in-chief in a world filled with Muslim extremists who will do whatever it needs to do to destroy the lives of civilized people while killing innocent men, women and children in order to bring a change that is beneficial to all Islamic terrorists worldwide. | Hillary or Barack: Who Is Your Choice and Why Posted: 6/3/2008 1:22:20 AM | Polls say that Hillary has substantial leads over Mccain in key states, like Ohio, and FLA. Obama, on the other hand is trailing Mccain. We will know in November. In Any case, itf it is Obama against Mccain, I think it pits the 2 best from each party agaisnt each other. Let the best man win!
