| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 5/6/2005 9:52:12 PM | borrowing a digital camera this weekend to upload my pics and yes, I am going to put my tats up there.
why?
uh, cause by nature they are a part of me. And mine are quite visible. If I just put a head shot on there, what would happen the first time I met someone in person? " WTF you have a friggin' mosaic on your arms. EEEWWWWW!" You don't have to like them, and if you don't, this just helps you not waste my time.

please, oh please put me in that catagory. throw away the damn key.

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 5/7/2005 5:55:11 PM | you go through the time to find a design you like, put up the cash and get the work done, why not display them. and as far as i'm concerned screw everyone who thinks they look trashy you'll never understand what they mean to the owner and you don't have the right to knock their tattoos | |

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 5/9/2005 11:03:23 AM | | i don't have a specific pic of my tattoos/piercings on my page but you can see them in my pictures and i also say i like body mods in my description. in my dating experience i've found that the people i date usually have at least one body mod and usually people with body mods share simular interests. | |

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 5/9/2005 12:01:37 PM | I don't show mine in my profile...although I wouldn't have a problem doing it. For one, they are a part of you, an interest that you have enough of to forever put it on your flesh, why would you not want to add it to your profile? I think tattoos are sexy and I like a man with tats, therefore I can see adding them in my profile. Also, if someone doesn't like someone with tats it is a way of not wasting their time. | |

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 5/9/2005 7:41:06 PM | | I show mine because they are a part of me. I also do it because some people are turned off my it and that will just weed out the people who don't like them from contacting me | |

I have noticed that men and women with tattoos/ piercings seem to put a lot of emphasis on displaying them in their profiles. Like it is something extremely important. Why do you guys do guys put a lot of focus on them? What does it do for you? What do you think it does for someone you are looking to date? Why would you get one and then hide it? More important, why make assumptions about people from the choice they make to show a picture of a tattoo? Weird.

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 6/21/2005 5:15:19 PM | | OK, FOR ALL YOU IGNORANT PEOPLE....I have several tattoos, all of which are custom designs of my own that took years of work, why?..because they are all designed around the most important thing in my life...my son....ok, so why tattoos? because tattoos are forever as is my son, it all depends on what you like and how you want to express it...it doesnt matter if it's ink, photo albums, or anything...its all about what you like and want. Its pretty simple, I get tattooed because I like it. I dont make a point of showing them off, theyre for me not you. So for those of you who think tattoos are for satan or corrupt minds....F**K OFF....IF YOU DONT LIKE THEM, DONT GET THEM...but never judge. | |

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 6/21/2005 11:53:24 PM | Personally, I prefer to scare off the conservative holier-than-thou types so that I don't have to be subjected to their snide lectures on "how can anybody do that to their body". If they're that easily turned off, they NEED to be weeded out - pronto.
As far as TRASH goes - TRASH is as TRASH does. And trashing others for something you don't understand is what TRASH does - IMO.

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 6/23/2005 1:50:23 PM | what part of logical do you not get?
1) in twenty years everyone will want them off. Skin gets older, it's very painful to get em off and leaves a person scarred.
2) you be lucky to get a job with one, as employers want a suit and tie, good manners, good English, a presentable appearance, etc.,
3) tatoos make people look cheap I think. In the Navy we had sailors with tatoos and most of them were "lifers" doing "time". (joke) No offense, my Dad retired from service.

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 6/23/2005 1:56:10 PM | | i stop short of saying they are a sin because that point is not clear Biblically, but for personal taste I say for me they would be a sin to deface my body which is supposed to be created beautiful by intelligent design, so why SIU? | |

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 6/23/2005 2:24:30 PM | how can you say that people will wnat their tattoos off in 20 years most people get tattoos that mean something to them or show a special time in their life. Second if you get a job with a suit and tie then most tattos wont be visable unless they are on your hands, neck,or face third you may think people with tattoos look cheap but hey so can the clothes you wear the way your hair looks just basically the way you presesnt your self.
my tattos all have a meaning behind them even if you look at them and think there is no way that means anything it does to me, anyone elses opinion dosent mean anything to me. And dont try to say i will want mine off in 20 years becaues i wont i love everyone of my tattos and will never want them removed. Oh and in these days more than likely your employer has a tattoo as well tattoos are becomeing more and more accepted in this world and there is alot of people who would suprise you because they look as if they would never have a tattoo but they usually do. Trust me one of my good friends owns a tattoo shop and you see all typed of people in there teachers, doctors, lawyers you name it i have seen it

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 6/23/2005 7:43:39 PM | | A world of opinions about tattoos, yes? I don't broadcast mine, but I do have them, and in the summertime, they are noticable. Some men have come up to me and told me that they are awesome, and would like to know more about the artist....I tell them that I am the artist, so so it goes....however, I am very self conscience about them, as they may offend some people. I wish to offend no one, but sometimes lifestyles conflict. That is the way of life, yes? | |

| Tattoos, Why do emphasize them in your profiles? Posted: 6/25/2005 3:34:49 AM | Not to be insensitive, but I wish you didn't care about offending others in this way. I really don't understand why anyone would think it their place to judge your tattoos, let alone be offended by them (unless of course they're X-rated or something! ) And if someone IS offended, they should probably get that checked. Know what I mean? | |

I see those women with shit all across their backside...wft is that? a trend?"
Thank YOU! You took the words right out of my mind. What sort of "thinking" makes people want to pay another person to mutilate their body? Shall we cut off fingertips and ears next? Bones in the nose? Gouge out an eye and replace it with a painted ping-pong ball? Why not? What is the difference?
For those of you who do partake of this primitive, bestial practice, you're limiting yourself socially and professionally whether or not you know it. Do you have ANY idea how discouraging it is to meet somebody to whom you're really attracted, and when she removes her clothes she looks like a freakin' Mara Salvatrucha gang member? Gag...... There are also surveys out there that indicate that those who are not human graffitti boards tend to pass over graffitied people in hirings and promotions and although this is popular NOW (as were platform shoes, perms & polyester in the 70's) what about 5 years from now? Someone made the comment in an earlier post that "most people like them", but I would have to disagree. This is "bubble thinking". Those within your "bubble"; those people whom YOU know and with whom you associate because they are in you particular age group, socio-economic structure and who share your tastes, like them. But....there is a big world out here of people who find them freakish and we tend to be the ones at the top of the food chain.
