Posted: 10/25/2005 8:45:45 AM | I understand and appreciate body art, but I have to agree that women with V-shaped tattoos on the small of their back *IS* a trendy thing. Until the last five years or so, we rarely (if ever) saw them. Now, it seems like it's hard to NOT find some chick with low rise jeans showing off her new tatt.
When I see a a girl with a pic of her lower-back tattoo displayed in her profile, more often than not it seems to scream "look at me! look at me! I'm cool and edgy!"
Well I have one of those "trendy" tattoos on the small of my back, but the difference is mine was placed long before the "trend" came to light. So, I think the above statements are rather presumptious don't you think? And would the other four I have be trendy also? ;) | |

Personally, I prefer to scare off the conservative holier-than-thou types so that I don't have to be subjected to their snide lectures on "how can anybody do that to their body". If they're that easily turned off, they NEED to be weeded out - pronto.
As far as TRASH goes - TRASH is as TRASH does. And trashing others for something you don't understand is what TRASH does - IMO.
....and then there was light! Preach it!
Though trashing is allowed in forums, btw......so you should expect the trashy people to trash you... | |

One thing about people with tatts, we don't care if you don't have any so why should you care if we do have them. If you don't like them and you meet someone who does, then the jokes on you because more than likely you will both have a rotten time because you have alreay formed an opinion........ | |

I don't have pictures of them on my profile and I don't mention them. Your post makes me think maybe I should. LoL! That wasn't your goal, was it? But people made some good points about showing that you have them from the start. I just don't think of them as consequential, as they never have been. People like them. I have a pretty big one on my back. People see it often and I am always stopped so people can look at it. It's really pretty....LoL, better be, it took me long enough to draw the damn thing!!! And the best part, the guy who did it free handed it...that was amazing......5 1/2 hours of amazing.......I LOVE TATTOOS!!!!!!! | |

It can tell a story, remind you of a loved one, or anything else for that matter, but I think it has to represent or mean something to you.
I firmly believe though, that tattoos should be chosen wisely and done well. Nothing looks worse than a crappy tattoo!  | |

I have seen the stupid tattoos that some get just to have one or because they were trashed and they usually regret them later. The people who have a tat that is a representative part of who they are generally like their tat and will share it with others. I get many positive comments about my tat and the only one that ever said they did not like it was my Mom. It is representative of a passion I have for herpetology and others that share my interest will say I like your veiled chameleon others might just say is that a dragon?  | |

Posted: 12/1/2006 6:19:56 AM | i have tattoos,an i think that some people would like to know if you them just incase they dont like em.if you end up on a date an they dont know, it just saves a gettin into a difficult situation,its not in your face i just see it as body art ,an when done properly they can look quite good,mines big an on left side of body so i cant hide mine like most people can.just be up front if they dont like it you dont have to date them ,just find someone who does. | |

I also got them done as rembrance of my past, and how I have come far from the life I have left behinde.
I like art, I love to see art on skin, because if you bod is your temple I want to decorate it how I see fit.
Judgeing a book by its cover is just wrong. Alot of prominent people have tattoos, doctors, lawers..hell even judges!

Its not who I am but it is a part of me. If I didn't mention it wouldn't someone say, why didn't you say you were into such things? Why surprise anyone later, might as well be upfront.  | |

Posted: 12/2/2006 4:46:41 AM | I have one tattoo. It is of a big-horned ram. Most people who see it ask me if I'm an Aries. Nope. It has religious significance; being sacred to the Anglo-Nordic god Heimdall.
I don't display it on my profile 'cause, well, I suppose cause most people ask me if I'm an Aries and don't get it. And it's not really a "look what I got!" kinda thing anyway.
It's more of a "voluntary brand" sort of thing.
Personally, I would n't want alot of tattoos, muchless piercings, but I do understand that it is something of a subculture. Some peoples in the world think that painting ones teeth black is sexy, or a man putting on make-up and flashing his eyes and batting his eyelashes like a woman, or slitting their lower lip and inserting a fairly large disc. It's a different aesthetic thats for sure, but to some it might be the same as showing off what one thinks as their best assets... or what they think a person might want to see. For some of us it's our face, for others it's clothes, for others still who are blessed and/or put alot of work into their bodies it might be the shirt off or bikini shot, for others it's tattoos and piercings.
I'll say this about zealous tattooing and piercing, there are going to be some very interesting looking old people in a few decades!

I make mention of this because none are where I find a lot of females prefer to put them and I don't want anything left to interpretation. I love them obviously so I mention them with pride - I dont put the pictures up however of the tattoos or the piercings because there's not enough room and some could be construed as 'x-rated'. | |
