Somebody please tell me how a vote for Kucinich would be a good thing. The guy wants to stop fighting Terrorists for God's sake! This guy is worse than bill clinton! He has no economic plan, wants to place a user tax on those of us that pay health insurance to pay for illegals coverage, is against the Patriot Act, and led the fight to stop the Pentagon Memorial because it did not include the names of the highjackers.

Tell me ONE worthwhile thing about the nutjob moonbat.

Maybe it's because he doesn't see things in only two colors?

I find him preferable over any Republican--I used to be one until they sold the party up the river and allowed neo-utopian ideologues to co-opt it--and certainly over Hillary or Barak.

Since the Dems either have a short memory or no mustard to ask it, there's a question that Barak and Joe Biden haven't yet answered. Their GOP competition will surely ask this: Since you say you represent the "little guy" and support the "middle class," then why, senators, did you vote FOR the anti-bankruptcy bill? Kucinich won't have to wriggle and writhe in his seat like those two gents, nor will he have to endure questioning about questionable donations that Hillary will.

We have billions invested, and billions still going to Iraq to rebuild the country. We promised them that we would fix their infrastructure, train their police and leave them in half way good shape.

Yeah, right. We're now in the middle of Year Five in Iraq; how well's that succeeding?
The reports I read, Haliburton & Bechtel haven't completed any infrastructure improvements outside of the embassy complex and whenever American forces start trying to train the police, the locals blow up the police station in order to rid their homeland of Americans and American collaborators.

Regardless of who the next President may be, we're going to have to keep that promise.

Regardless of who the next President is, we're going to be no more able to keep that promise than we are now. You can't build a nation from without, and you can't build anything under military occupation. Iraq needs a Marshall Plan, not martial law.

Perhaps a high showing for Dennis Kucinich will force the other Dems to consider passing REAL universal health care.

What, and relinquish all those lucrative bribes from the medical, insurance and tobacco lobbyists & PACs which keep them in those cushy Capitol Hill offices?

Kucinich is a true-blue, loyal-to-the-end DLC operative. He talks a good game, but his role is to be the Pied Piper of the Democratic [sic] Party. He's there to draw The Left into the Democratic Party's mythical "big tent", where it will be drowned, same as he did in 2004, and the same as Obama's doing with the black community.

You watch: Next spring/summer, they'll each come out and say, "Well, we ran a good campaign and fought for what we believe in, but now it's time to throw all our support behind lesser-of-two-weasels Hillary. (and behind Wal-Mart, Pfizer, Kaiser Permanente, and the War on Israel's Oil-Rich Neighbors, and, and, and, ... ) It's OK to fall in love during the primaries, but now it's time to fall in line"

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/07/22/kucinich.kerry/index.html

The Democratic [sic] Party has always put forth a Pied Piper candidate for as long as I can remember. (back to Eugene McCarthy or so) It's just their S.O.P.

^ ^ ^ ^ Well, I do agree with you on this one point: Hillary is most likely going to be the 2008 candidate.

The left wing of the Democratic party is dead. There is a reason that Republicans have been trouncing ass over the past 40 years, where there have been two Democratic presidents -- one drummed out after 4 years.

It wasn't until Democrats jumped toward the middle that they were able to get a candidate, Bill Clinton, elected.

Like it or not, the Framers of the US Constitution instituted the system of checks and balances to keep our laws in the center. If that wasn't the case, you can imagine what could have happened under 8 years of George W. Bush.

That notable exception notwithstanding, no one on the extreme left or the extreme right is going to be an attractive candidate, and I rather like it that our country is not subject to the extreme swings in government found elsewhere.

Sanity usually lies somewhere in the middle ground.

I'm not going to fall in line for Hillary She's too much to the middle for my taste. Hopefully the posters who are saying that Hillary is going to get the nomination turn out to be wrong.

I'll probably end up voting Green or third party if Hillary gets the nomination Any one of the R's are weasels, and so is Hillary

Kucinich recently pledged to re-open the investigation into the put option trading before 9-11. The 9-11 Commission concluded that there was nothing unusual about the trading, even though it was extremely heavy, because no connection could be found to Al Qaeda! That's not the way to conduct an investigation. You don't start with a conclusion and only look at evidence that supports that conclusion, but that is what the 9-11 Commission did regarding the put options on American and United stock.

There has to be an independent inquiry into the events of that day. I agree with Max Cleland who said the 9-11 Commission had been compromised. I agree with the families of 9-11 victims who have said the commission did not answer most of their questions. And I agree with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the 9-11 Commission who said the FAA, the Pentagon and the CIA tried to derail their investigation.

Two wars and hundreds of thousands of deaths followed from the events of that day but there has never been a competent, independent investigation.

Kucinish may be a flake but I agree with him on the need to get to the truth of what happened that day.

John Conyers actually opened pre-impeachment hearings -- if only while he was running for reelection.

Of course, he knuckled under to Nancy Pelosi's mandate that impeachment would be off the table just as soon as the election was over.

Kucinich has been in the U.S. Congress since 1997. Why did he wait until 2008 to begin talking about opening an investigation of events which occurred in 2001? Would he be doing anything at all if not a serious challenge in the primary?

If ever there's a compelling argument for the need for strong third parties, this is it. So many elected officials only seem to find the backbone to act (or at least talk about acting) when there's a serious challenge to their reelection.

Kucinich had some very good points that he brought up w/ campaign.
Unfortunately, he lacked charisma and personal warmth and he seemed unable to get his campaign out of first gear.

Ron Paul, however, had a great deal more exposure than Kucinich...and yet he failed to capitalize upon that support.
Also his "message" , which seemed to be a rehash of discredited ideas and conspiracy theories never resonated beyond his core group of supporters/followers.
He also lacked charisma and his pro-life stance is definite turn-off for any pro-choice fence-sitters.

Ultimately, both made an initially dull race a little more interesting.

I think he does have charisma. And I say this as somebody who does not support his views. Having watched the majority of the debates, I was continually surprised by his performances - he's smooth, quick-thinking, comes off as committed and sincere, and engages the other candidates effectively.

IMO his problems stemmed from two sources. First, fatigue - he ran last time and the novelty was over. Second, I think he suffered from the same problems as Paul - too many extreme ideas being thrown into one pot. While his support lacks the conspiracy taint, his views strike many in the mainstream as being too naive to be taken seriously (eg abolish the Dept of Defense and create instead a Dept of Peace, send 'conflict resolution specialists' to deal with the worlds conflicts and disagreements, drop entirely any concept of 'illegal' with regards to immigrants, etc).

Sometimes it's the guys with no charisma who have the guts to do what's right. Bush should have been impeached years ago. Carter was no charmer either but the guy had the b$lls to speak the truth about the issues of the day back then.

It's not an impeachment hearing. They're just running out the clock with bad theater.
