It sounds like you want to like her, but it's such an odd 'fit', that you'll soon be irritated & resentful. If you go out with her, make friends AS WELL, and try to do things that don't depend on a romance. That way, if things don't work out as bf/gf, perhaps that will help you stay on good terms, because you do enjoy something about her.... it's just that you're not entirely pleased with those bits that shouldn't matter (but they do). | |

I once dated a man named Leroy. For the longest time, I could barely say his name with a straight face. I liked him, though, and decided to keep dating him. After a while, the oddity wore off, and I didn't notice it any longer.
My daughter has a little 5 year old friend named Helen. I think Grandma names are coming back in fashion now. | |

Dude! You should TOTALLY dump her! Don't even think twice about it!!!
Obviously, her parents had no respect for her dating future when they were naming her. Therefore, she must have some type of self-esteem issues going on. Ergo, this one's ripe for a dumping.
One of the reasons I LOVE the addition of a forum to this dating site is that it allows such an opportunity for those of us who can think rationally to provide the rest of you with such valuable , and badly needed advice.
Don't go out with this one, dude. She doesn't deserve a man of your obvious intellect and charm, not to mention your keen sense of nomenclatural etiquette. Any woman named Lillian is obviously from a family which is far below your station in life. Do her a favor and don't be too gentle when you break it to her, since you wouldn't want her getting the wrong idea here. Obviously, she's not for you. She didn't even include a full body pic in your first correspondance, and a man like you has little patience for such things since it could be a sign that she might be hesitant to "put out" when the time comes , which, a man like you would most likely expect on the first date.
But be sure to tell her that if she has a twin sister, you'd like to hook up with her instead. | |

hell once i was dating a really top notch guy... only downfall was when he was dancing wiv a friend of mine ( allowed of course....) he turned around and ( shallow me) he didnt fill out the back of his jeans...they hung like nufink...not even touching his legs.....and that turned me off....
but the funny thing is..... taht guy is now engaged to my friend lily ( no wasnt the one he was dancing wiv) so it funny how things work out.... | |

However, I was chatting to a guy once that was completely gorgeous... his name was Igor... I was like, "c'mon... what's yer real name???" He was like, "Igor!!" I felt soooo dumb... the name struck me funny... I certainly wouldn't want that for my name; but my gawd, I'd never use it against a person when it came to having them in my life.
I gotta say that alot of people (young guys) like this poster are really picky... and that's why (I hate to say it), I'm so self-conscious; I've had guys tell me how they were dating someone who could be a model, but couldn't get past their big toe!
I find the mentality of the masses today is influenced by having too many options; nothing wrong with having standards... but it's kinda getting ridiculous. | |

mysta, a_sweet_fishy and melbyshelby may have been right, but I think at this point, it'll be more fun to leave you to think that one through on your own, based on what you can find out about me from reading my profile and some of my other posts. Just think - if you'd have done that within 15 minutes after having made your post, you would have still had time to edit your post to say something different. Oh well, maybe next time.

You're right. It all seemed so clear to me earlier, but apparently I didn't think it through completely. He should offer to sleep with her best friend instead. Out of pity, of course.
Poor guy's going to have a complex if he actually reads this thread. You know, OP, the best way to stay away from women named Lillian is to stay away from women altogether. Think about it, when was the last time you met a dude named Igor? It doesn't happen very often, now does it? See? So if you switch teams, you'll be way better off.

I do see your point too..If i found a guy i really liked and his name was Like fred or frank I would be a lil hesitant on the dating thing..Sounds bad but its true..would feel funny telling my friends Im dating a frank...lol.

I agree that names conjure up some serious emotions sometimes (this usually comes up when someone is trying to think up a name for their baby) you know like "ugh no I can't name him/her (insert name here) , that reminds me of a guy in highschool I didn't like!" etc
as for dating , if it's someone who is completely great and the name really is the only thing that bothers you (and not some lame excuse for another issue at hand) I would say that is supremely superficial and the person you won't date is probably the lucky one of the two of you.
