I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!!

"I received a mail from a member thanking me for greeting her at the recent Birmingham meet with a hug, she found it helped her to relax & destress some of her nerves."

And I've got a huuuuge hug booked for Saturday, remember, TTG!

I had a very strange, and stressed, day at work yesterday and at the end of the day I saw a mate who noticed I looked harrassed. He gave me a hug, and I could feel all the tension falling away as I stood wrapped in his arms.
Hugs are great.

I hug my kids all the time, embarrassed my 13 year old by giving her a big hug and kiss and her 13th birthday disco!
I'm a party organiser and when people come to my parties I always greet them with a hug and a kiss, never a handshake, handshakes are so formal.

I am seriously lacking in the hugs deparment. I think there are people who would happily hug me but like aerosoul said, for some it's not an easy thing to do.

My Mum was affectionate to me as a child and we still hug now but that's the only family member or relative I ever shared this affection with.

Now I find I'm worried about invading someone elses personal space by approaching for a hug, a lot of that I think comes from childhood sh1t I went through. I'd love to hug more and I never turn down a hug, I'm just not great at asking for them.

I do however shower my nieces and nephews with hugs and kisses, I don't want them to end up like me!

I don't remember being hugged as a kid and I don't hug my parents ...... or brother and sister although they do attempt to hug me now.....

I can't say I had to learn to hug as when I had my kids it just came natural to me to hug them every second I could ....... we are now attached at the hip most times and hug all the time without having a reason like greeting or departing ......

since then I am more free with my hugs for other people

I did hug GG when I met her at the meet :o)

They do that though because they fancy you. I used to see loads of people in nightclubs years ago hugging and snogging each other who hardly knew each other.

OMG, hugging does not mean you fancy someone.

Stonecastle, they were probably off their faces on mind alering substances and thus the hugging and snogging became the most natural thing to do. OR they were just pissed and fancied a snog.

Snogging and hugging are two different things and can mean something completely different depending on the circumstances and who you are hugging.

No, 'they' don't! I hug all sorts of people, it's how I like to show that I care, and I don't 'fancy' ANY of them!

Also: "I used to see loads of people in nightclubs years ago hugging and snogging each other who hardly knew each other. "

I think youll find that that had quite a lot to do with the fact that Ecstacy was rife in clubs, and it had a very strong 'loved up' effect.

No they weren't this was not a rave, acid house club. And in those sorts of clubs all people do is dance all night. They don't interact much with each other. This was at a normal disco, the sort that played normal pop music not thumping techno. They were not off their faces at all, they weren't even drunk.

That might be how you perceive it but drugs are not exclusive to raves or acid house. I know plenty of people who take them wherever they are going, regardless of whether it is having a night in with their mates or out to any type of club.

I also said they might have been drinking, something that the majority on a night out at a "normal" disco will be doing.

I stand by the fact that you don'y have to fancy someone to hug them, some people just like hugging, me included and I have also been known to hug strangers simply because I felt like a hug. Nothing to do with sexual attraction.

Edit: Also, in rave or acid house clubs or whatever you want to call them, people do interact. Yes they dance all night but there is also a huge amount of interaction. Agian I know this through experience as I used to be a right lil raver back in the day!

I hug people when i greet them, and also when i say goodbye. Like most parents, we get the loveliest cuddles off kids

As long as its not like that match.com advert where they are glued to each other, im not bothered lol

YAY!!! To Aero for a nice mushy squishy feel good thread!!!

I'm a huggy...I'm even a tree hugger...

I hate false hugs though from sleazes ...ger outta me personal space!!!

My best mate is a nightmare...try & hug her & she freezes like dolly clothes peg. I've tried teaching her...& it all went hideously wrong when she tried to hug a mates husband...arms went round neck & she looked like she was going in to throw lips on him... ...I was in bulk ...she still hasn't cracked it...but sweet thing is, she stands submisively & expectant when we see each other...admits she'd miss it now if I didn't give her lil squeeze bless her!!!

Hugs to all...'specially me mucker Aero!!!

Absolutely nowt wrong with hugging people, people who have problems being hugged are generally retentive and emotionally retarded, its nice to be hugged and to hug someone is not always a gesture of a sexual nature and an indication that you fancy them as stoney suggested but can just be a nice way of saying how are you mate, or I like you.

One of the bosses where I work was having a mong about something till I shouted "We should all love each other" and went to give him a big hug. You never saw anyone run so fast!

Do you think it's a case that the pathological thread deleters are in dire need of a hug?

As a pretty tactile guy, I'd say hugs and cuddles are about all I miss from my married days. But I appreciate them all the more when I do get them because they are now precious!

But I could tell those people were definity not on drugs. This was about 16 years ago back in my home city of Stoke-on-Trent. It was a normal disco and almost half the people there were snogging near the end of the night. It used to happen almost every time I went out to clubs towards the end of the night about a quarter to half of the people there would be paired up and snogging in corners. It was nothing to do with drugs!

i'm a hugger.

i hug all my family and friends hello and goodbye and somwhere in between.

as a kid i remember being cuddled up on the sofa with my dad watching crappy old films.

i hug all my friends male and female, one of my friends is a real hugger and kisser - he even kisses his dad hello and goodbye on the lips. sometimes in the midst of a good natter he'll say ''ahh mate, fancy a quick hug?'' and we do. my best mate gets lots of hugs. and i've been known to hug workmates but generallly in happy/sad/stressful moments rather than the hello and goodbye times.

i'm a luvvie so most of my mates male and female are also luvvies and therefore the tactile type it goes with the territory.

i've done the clubbing/drugs scene too and yes it's par for the course there lots of random strangers haveing a mighty pilled up love-in.

but i've always been a hugger

I'm like the OP.

In my younger days I'd never have dreamed of hugging my mates as it just wasn't done. I was quite homophobic in those days, so that probably didn't help,

Then I spent 5 years living in Madchester and going out in the village every weekend. Copious amounts of MDMA lowered my inhibitions.

I'm now a serial hugger. In fact, if I don't get a hug off someone I'm close to male or female I'm a bit put out.
