I have no problem asking for a hug, or giving one to anyone who needs a good cuddle, I enjoy the closeness, and sometimes it stops people talking for a few seconds too!

it appears that there is a lot you don't understand.
perhaps you should read my post properly before offering your highly uneducated opinion. how is a decrease in violence a bad thing?
i think youre confusing "some drugs" with "all drugs".
pour yourself another drink old man. then compare the figures for extacy related deaths to alcohol related ones. in fact, why not compare alcohol death figures to heroin ones? you might learn something, but i seriously doubt it).

Alf...when youve finished mourning the lack of physical contact in your life, i recommend you go and destroy everything in your possesion that was created under the influence of drugs (if you truly belive that drugs have done NOTHING for the world, then its only fair you lead by example).
that includes your Debbie Harry albums, and any major works of literature you may have lying around (yeh right!), e.g ANYTHING by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (WHO?), Charles Baudelaire (what?), Robert Louis Stevenson (duh?), William Burroughs, Steven King (more your level of comprehension), Philip K****(bladerunner anyone?), ETC ETC ETC.
drugs can do terrible things (ask Winston Churchill or george w bush-the alcoholic COKEHEADs), we all know this. but to claim that humankind hasnt benefited from SOME drugs is naive at best, and at worst, completely retarded.
have another drink. | |

I grew up in a place where you have to watch your back & constantly look over your shoulder, a place where the hardest people in the school were girls!?
Hardest emotionally? Must have been in the South!
Did you have to learn how to hug? Was it always there & you didnt have to give it a second thought? How important to you is hugging?
Hugging came naturally to me. I was brought up in a family where it seemed to happen frequently, and regardless of gender.
I think its very important to be able to hug one's partner, children, friends......I couldn't be with someone who didn't feel comfortable hugging me.

Posted: 1/1/2009 12:41:05 PM | | My brother still hugs his two eldest sons who are 25 and 24 now and when they part company they give each other a kiss on the cheek still. I've heard people comment about it saying it's wierd but they've always done it and the day never came when it was time to stop. Mind you, due to the size of the 3 of them, no-one has ever said anything within their earshot.

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/1/2009 1:34:24 PM | My family are a very affectionate bunch, hugs and kisses were always available and I'm the same with my friends and family members.
Hugs are fantastic and are very useful/comforting in loads of different situations.

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/1/2009 3:56:19 PM | | I love a big hug. I hug my son constantly when he stays, and my nephew. I give my girly mates hugs, they know I'm just being friendly. I'm not opposed to hugging another bloke (even gay ones), I'm perfectly comfortable with my own heterosexuality. There's nowt wrong with it. | |

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/2/2009 7:05:34 PM | my family also weren't very huggy...
i am very tactile with my children, my son is 18 and we often have a squeeze, my daughter loves physical contact and will snuggle up next to me.
my sister would be horrified if i tried to hug her though
and my mom, bless her, holds up her cheek so i can kiss her good bye. i dont think she likes it much but is prepared to go through the motions to make me happy.

Nothing like wrapping your arms right round someone, and there are times I wish I had the arms of a gibbon (rather than the face of one) so I could wrap em round someone twice around. I tend to stroke the back, too, for some reason
hmmmmm
I can be very huggy, depending on the person Im hugging or being hugged by. There is nothing better in this world than snuggling up to a loved one, but I dont hug everyone, or feel the need to be hugged by everyone.

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/7/2009 4:53:29 PM | I'm not against hugging, in fact I quite like a hug but there's always that thought that maybe the person you want to hug won't appreciate it/think it appropriate so it's better to play safe and not hug. If you know the person would appreciate it then bring it on. It seems to be that people who haven't had that with their families are less inclined to be "huggy" but those that have are more inclined. Personally I've not really had a huggy family but when I was a bit younger I was probably glad of that fact - now I'm a bit older I quite like the contact. Don't hug my dad (maybe I should start) and only hug my mum before they go away. Would be quite happy hugging more and would hug friends if I knew they were comfortable with it.
Still can't beat a good hug from a partner though just need a partner to hug now

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/10/2009 4:01:56 AM | just broken up with a real nice woman, she cooked for me a lot, allways a couple of beers in the fridge, ideal in many ways, we all like being looked after and looking after others i appreciated what she did a lot,
no hugs, well very few, getts a bit, well, if your a touchy feely person like me and allways giving hugs and getting bugger all back, just hugs we are talking about here,
i would have traded all that she did, for a hug when i needed it, its the most basic thing you can do for someone and sooooooo important and yes spoke about it many times
obviously she had issues, im not running this woman down, shes a good woman, perhaps in her family, the rule was, dont touch, who knows what i do know she has experienced bad stuff in the past with men, you women know what im talking about, goes unreported most of the time
