sounds about right.... that would be for age 18-99....
i have done search .... and get similar ratios...
the ratio Men to women ratio is highest for the 19-29 age range but once you go over the 50+ age ... the ratio of men to women is about 1..
do not forget that included is the ratios are men looking for intimate encounter...
if you ignore these men and there are a few women also looking for intimate encounters .. the ratio of men to women is much closer to 1:1 and for 50+ ... they are actually more women then men.. | |

Match.com is a paying site ... and many of these women are non-payers. Non-payers can NOT send emails and they do not have Instant messaging on Match.com anymore.
Based on my experience at most 20 percent of women on paying sites are paying members.
On POF ... you can email and instant message for FREE!!!!!
Also they are many POF events organized by the POF members ... That included the largest Speed Dating event held ... in Hamilton Ontario | |

Just thinking out loud is all. I see a lot of the smart ass answers on past forums are profiles that have been canceled soon after posting so I bet a lot of that goes on. | |

women have a tendency to get a little crusty not that I blame them
any place they get hit on alot and POF is no excemption
all of sudden an average lady here becomes a goddess
and the average guy a smuck!

But I do know women in ontario are the pickiest of any women in the world and by their profiles or personal additudes in person seem to make the ratio -6000 women to every single male no matter what age bracket for ontario!LOL
Maybe thats why so many guys go on singles vacations every year to southern places or southern countries ! Hmm !!Well maybe thats why when I am looking for some place to vacation each year it seems to be more single mens vacation packages available then anything ! And all I see listed for single women is cruises. And not many single men go on cruises for sure unless their over 60 yrs old !haha | |

Posted: 7/5/2008 1:31:23 AM | 1.484 :1, that's all? I would much rather see it divided up into age brackets. I would bet the youngest bracket would have a staggering unbalance of at least 5 males to 1 female. I discussed this with a buddy of mine and he pretty well pointed out the obvious when saying "Well the ratio is always going to be like that, girls don't really have to look for a guy." At saying that his wife just giggled and really couldn't argue the point. And really could anyone put up a strong challenge to that? A young female who's anywhere between physically somewhat attractive and extremely attractive to men should have no problem. The men are the hunters and will approach them. Now if a girl is unattractive to most men well I could see that being really difficult. Although I'm not sure I can recall ever knowing a girl (around my age) who's been single for years on end no matter how far from the standard of beauty she is. I knew one who was probably 5'3" and maybe up to 300 pounds I would imagine. Even she had guys after her sometimes. Personally I would have no problem dating a pretty girl who's a little heavy. Not that there isn't that fine line between "overweight" and "oh my god it's coming at me!"
I can tell you the majority of men don't get it nearly so easy and I've known some really sad cases. The most common thing seems to be if one lacks social skills and is clueless to the dating game than he's just shit out of luck. I know and have known such young men a few of which I would think are pretty decent looking guys who haven't so much as got a date in years. I working with a guy now who I think you could say is above average looking and 25 years old. He told the lot of us at lunch for some reason that he hasn't been laid in over 6 years. God damn that's bad. The saddest part is those are supposed to the the best years of their lives just wasted. It seems really unfair now but I guess men get the advantage later in life when in middle age and beyond.
That is somewhat of a frustrating thought though really. It makes me feel that as a young man dating sites are an utter waste of time. And in a way they really are. I should be out learning how to do this stuff on the spot face to face in real life. POF almost feels like a cop out sometimes. However I'm still new to this city and don't know a lot of people here which makes that hard. I don't like to post negative things in these forums as that's likely to turn off any ladies who might actually click on my forum posts in my profile. But screw it, sometimes one just needs to speak his mind.
Now say for middle aged people I could imagine things being a lot more balanced here. I doubt they are approached nearly as often in public. The assumption is probably that people are married at that age and a very small percentage is still single. Men and women would be at about the same odds with maybe even a slight upper hand for men. Some older men have the option of dating much younger women. I guess I'll find out when I get there. But more hopefully I would hope I'd have found a good woman to spend my life with by that age. | |
