picture spending a most delightful year with who you would consider to be the love of your life, at least to this point in your life [and NO i am not carrying around an baggage from that relationship]
there the two of your are, lying in bed cuddling, candles burning, wallowing in the aftermath [if you catch my drift]... he starts tracing a finger along the underside of my right breast. i immediately think he is tracing the scar line and i must have tensed, or something cuz here's the conversation that followed:
G - is that tickling you?
R - no..... are you tracing my scar? [feeling a bit anxious]
G - what scar?
R - [looking up into his face now] the scar under each of my breasts
G - you have scars under your breasts?
R - [looking incredulous] yes
G - you don't have breast impla nts [whereupon, i almost burst out laughing]
R - no, i don't, i had a breast reduction.
G - are you kidding me, they were even bigger than this? [now he's looking incredulous and i am giggling]
R - yes they were, they used to get into the room about 10 minutes before me, everyone always knew i had arrived before my face entered the room.. made it darn hard to sneak up on someone too. not to mention the fact i often had a concussion in the mornings.... and so my stand up comedy routine went until he finally stopped me with a finger over my lips... and said,
G - the hostess with the most, mia bella.. and he went back to caressing me until it was time to put out the candles and go to sleep.
that's the kind of man you will find one day, he won't see the scars, he will just see you, his bella

Remember the scene from one of the "Lethal Weapons" ? Was it Renee Russo?....she (or whoever) and Mel Gibson kick of a sexy love scene by comparing scars (stripping to get to most of them).......I always wanted to do that :D (Damn him for getting all religious and fundamental and ruining a perfectly good fantasty, lol) | |

After ten years of marriage and a bout with Cancer, after it was all removed, my wife told me she just wasn't physically attracted to me anymore because of the scar.
I am glad to see everyone's positive words on this. I am glad I am alive and kicking but sometimes its hard living with the reminder of what you went through.

OMG, what totally shallow friggin' ****......I'm sorry Toon, nobody deserves to hear that from someone they love. It's SKIN for crying out loud , not someone's SOUL.
People amaze me with their ugliness each and every day (and I'm not talking about scars).
Think of your scar as a built in "shallow" detector Toon.......you are an attractive man with, from what I can see, lots to offer. .... anyone who can't see that through a scar is a fool.

Posted: 4/12/2005 7:25:37 AM | They're scars, big deal ... To be honest, I can understand. I have a huge and pronounced scar toward the back, left side of my neck. At one time I grew a "mullet" to hide it because I was so self conscious about it and people always asked me about it. Then I decided, to hell with it. I'm going to see how much fun I can have with it. Those who ask get all kinds of stories. It's amazing what people will believe. Everything from a knife fight to wild sex and even shark attack and no one questions me when I answer them.
It's hard to get over being self conscious. I had to work at it and I would suggest you try the same. The scars are never going to go away. They are with you for life. So better to accept them as part of who you are. Plus, they always make for great stories!!! | |

wow....I think I just fell for you..well put!
Love the comment about telling him to 'look for your bellybutton' as well.
Bottom line is, if it DOES bother him, he's not the one. Love yourself and he'll have no choice but to love you for who you are as well
