| who likes to ride motorbikes....how far have u gone on a bike Posted: 1/30/2007 10:29:33 PM | | I used to love being on the back of a bike.... I was too young to drive them myself, so I went along with my stepdad when he used to have a bike.... Now tho, I am scared to get on one. I have had too many friends die from riding them, and I dont want to be another person added to that list. I think the furthest I went was.... I dont rememeber where it was, but I know it took about 2-3 hours to get to. | |

how far have u gone on a bike? ....
isn't that kind of a personal question?? I'll never tell ......
seriously though ... I sold my bike years ago for financial reasons but miss it immensely ... especially in the spring when I hear the first ones riding down the street. However, being a single mom with young children, I feel they need me more than I need the wind rushing in my face.
Funny story - I got my bike licence at 20 but didn't get my car licence until I was 25. My driving instructor used to laugh at me because I'd lean whenever I turned. He also finally made me roll down my window during lessons because I was always speeding. I guess I wanted to feel the wind and always judged my speed by that

Since then the longest trip I've been on was from Aurora to Niagra Falls on my first group ride. They went way faster than I was expecting. I was bored one day and drove around Lake Sincoe just for somewhere to go.

| who likes to ride motorbikes....how far have u gone on a bike Posted: 2/1/2007 2:30:21 PM | The longest ride I've taken was the Blue Ridge Tour last July. Five bikes and seven riders, we toured right down the backbone of America and back for 10 days. Every day was spent in the mountains, through small towns and villages, along the twisted trails, and finally we toured Deal's Gap.
We set up camp at Maggie Valley, and every day when not travelling we toured according to special maps put out for bikers. We all learned more about our rides than we ever expected, I know my skills improved immensly. The sheer immense range of creation was revealed at high altitude and the vast sense of freedom stays with us still.
Rise on, ride safe. Hal | |

Boy... I abused my lower back so much that day :).
I think if I get a cruiser I may enjoy more long rides, but for now, I stick with very short and intense ...:)
Miss the spring already :)

I've made many trips between Toronto and Ottawa. I guess the furthest was from Ottawa to a camp near Hamilton for Friday the 13th @ Port Dover a couple years ago.
BTW, Friday JULY 13th in Port Dover this year will be insane

Never went very far - cottages mostly, but I'm a sport bike girl, they're built for the sprint, not comfort. :P Couple hours at a time maybe?
Am currently in the market (looking for a ZX6R as in my pic). I want to get into track, so that'll be about the extent of my trips. Rather ride around in circles opened up than a straight line with a posted limit. :P If anyone hears of one in decent shape, please let me know!

may I see the light and get a cruiser soon :)
Well, with sportbike insurance skyrocketing, and the cop harrasement at an all time high, I may be considering a cruiser sooner than expected, or (heaven forbid) stop riding. I love riding, but am tired of the system and it's BS.
cheers | |

I used to live/ride in Toronto, with the GTAMotorcycle gang. Toronto roads suck. haha Used to go to Hockley valley and Forks of Credit, but a far ride for a short nice road. Here in Ottawa, the Calabogie boogie rocks. I've had friends ride here from TO just to do Calabogie.
Cheers George

the run to Dover (Port Dover) takes place every Friday the 13th, which occurs randomly on the calendar, look them up and there they are. The tradition causes the whole town to shut down to normal operations, some residents clear out, some shops close down. So far it's been a boon to the local economy, and peaceful, the noise is confined to downtown. When it occurs on a winter month it provides a nice boost to the local cash registers.
The next one is this April, you wont be able to find a room for rent now, they are all gone, so make it a day trip. You can get a room in one of the small towns nearby (Simcoe). Only motorbikes and foot traffic are allowed downtown on that day.

| who likes to ride motorbikes....how far have u gone on a bike Posted: 2/3/2007 9:23:37 AM | I haven't been on a motorcycle since 1987 when I splattered myself all over a Mazda 323. I still love the sound and look of a nice bike though.
If you love motorcycles of all kinds, Daytona bike week should be witnessed at least one time in your life. Besides, Florida in March...what could be better?
