| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/1/2007 11:47:29 AM | I'm not a member of any paid site.
I see no reason to pay for internet dating when a site like this is free to use.
I've browsed a few pay dating sites, and, in my area, there seems to be a greater number of people on POF, than any other site I've seen. Therefore, there's no real need to pay to use another site if it'll have less local matches. Also I've heard the rumors of some sites using fake profiles, to lure people to become paying members.

Seems like every time I log on there are no matches to my search criteria. Did belong to Match not anymore. Will NOT pay for a site in the future for all the reasons Sombient so eloquently stated. Like so many of the previous posters I like the forums also. From my limited experience I think POF is by far one of the best sites out there.

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/1/2007 12:31:46 PM | | Really?!! I've met many people from this site. I joined singleparentmeet, before I heard of POF. I've only met 3 or 4 women from that site, vs 3x that many from this site. Needless to say I will not be renewing my membersip from that site. | |

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/1/2007 3:25:00 PM | I have been on a few of the big ones over the years. The paying sites do seem to have a few more serious relationship minded members. The best one is by far E-Harmony. It isn't cheap and it has a very in-depth profile to fill out which I thought was quite good. You could not sit down and fill this thing out in a short time. E-Harmoney has one major flaw. It relies on a computerized matching system and sends you matches based on those results. This concept will never work IMO. I am currently on one other site that is using the same method of computerized matches. Am I paying for it? Nope, which is why I am still on it. This dating site sprang from Match.com and offered me a free lifetime membership! Whoo hoo! I sure hope I won't be taking full advantage of that! | |

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/1/2007 6:53:03 PM | | I used to be a member of a paid dating site but cancelled after too many lies and games. Now I have encountered even more lies, games, and disrespect but after 2 years on here but this is the only dating site I'll use the most because it's FREE!!! The other sites I just have up free profiles on and receive information and flirts but of course you have to pay to conatct them most of the time! So don't give up and keep on fishin' fishermen and fisherwomen! | |

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/1/2007 8:47:25 PM | | I am on Cupid.Com, JustSayHi.Com, ConnectionClub.Com (actually I am thinking about reactivating my paid membership), BlackPlanet.Com, Online Booty Call, and one or two others that I have not checked on in years. And none of them have helped in finding a woman who is looking for a man like me...So, now people my see why I am not an optimist when it comes to my finding someone. | |

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/1/2007 9:02:11 PM | I have many many years ago, but it has been quite a while. I do have profiles on other sites, but no one ever messages me beyond the winks and one-liners - secretly I think no one pays so no one really talks to each other.
Things I find bad on other sites that I appreciate not happening here are the fake messages from people - the person may be on your match list and you get a message from them. You pay your $20 so you can reply to the message and find out the person never messaged you. I have had this happen on many sites, and stopped falling for it years ago. Most of them seem to send messages from bots and stuff trying to trick you into paying.
Then there is the automatic credit card renewal crap. You can't just pay once and be done with it - the thing keeps renewing forever if you forget to stop it before the date.
Then there are the ones that tell you they won't post your profile text because it doesn't meet some guideline or other. I have one like that now - spent an hour writing the profile and it refuses to post it. I have scoured the thing looking for bad words and phrases and can't find any. I had things in there like "shoot me a message" and stuff where I thought "shoot me" might be the problem, but that didn't fix it. I asked to have a human review it and tell me what's wrong, but they don't bother - there are too many other people I guess.
This place is much more fun - the people talk to you, organize events, meet up and just generally have a lot more fun - and AdSense picks up the tab for all of it!

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/2/2007 3:56:24 PM | Yes, on Yahoo.
I found it much easier to find attractive and intriguing people on Yahoo than here. It's hardly nirvana but the interface is clean and effective. PlentyofFish always seemed so awkward and clumsy to me, even when compared to another free site (okCupid, which has other problems).
I'm also on Engage, a "pay" site that is currently free during the beta period. Interesting concept but it never worked for me.

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/9/2007 5:05:06 PM | NO, I had been on cupid for over 2 yrs. and ran across the same schmucks one after another. Cupid sucks and POF rocks! I have talked to a lot of nice people on POF and I am enjoying the forums. Sometimes it makes me forget what I am here for..LOL. | |

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/9/2007 6:39:39 PM | No, I paid for a membership on a site for 1 month, sort of as a trial. But in the middle of the month, I came across POF. And I liked this site much better, so I did not pay for another month. I was going to do the pay as I go, but this site was sooooo much better. I realy love visiting the forums. POF in my opinion, is the best site. Though, I have to admit, I havent tried many, not alot of basis for comparison. This is all new to me. This

Posted: 2/9/2007 8:07:45 PM | | No and I am not willing to pay a bunch of money to find out that there is nobody on the sites that are even close to me. I found this site and feel that has helped me greatly emotionally and see that there are alot of really great people here, and I look forward to reading the forums and they all in some way help me, each and every one of them. Great concept, and feel that yur site will only grow........... thank you............... ally

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 2/10/2007 6:25:16 AM | SHOWMAN>>>>Cupid is unique in that the women can join free, respond to emails free, so the men pay.....and it's not expensive.
Women and men can both join cupid for FREE. Some women even pay for it as well. Some are dumb enough to pay for the site so people can respond.
Now True.com is the only site I know of from experience that a WOMEN can email a man for free.

I pay for Cupid.com whenever I register for Pre-Dating (a paid membership is provided to those who register for Pre-Dating.)

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 3/27/2007 6:11:54 PM | I'm on a couple other pay sites.
My philosophy is that if I'm looking for that special someone, I'm not going to restrict the scope of my search over something as trivial as a few bucks.
If I'll spend money driving, buying dinners, going drinking, and going out, then the cost of additional pay sites is irrelevant to me. It doesn't matter to me what my percentage hit ratio is or whether it's 1 date or 30 dates from a given site.
I'm only looking for ONE person.
After all, we all may know that that special person is out there, we just don't know WHERE that person is.... personally, I'd rather cover all my bases than risk missing the opportunity to meet that person.

| Poll: Are you currently a paying member of another dating site? Posted: 3/27/2007 6:13:44 PM | I am on other sights but never pay the membership.. I just can't see paying to view and talk to someone. besides this is the best sight for meeting, talking and posting ,period.
the only thing i would change is maybe some of the myspace touches and more pics up.
