Nor do I believe there's a huge imbalance in the ratio of men to women in real-time. I think people in general are prone to getting tired of being alone in recent years because the number of ways to meet "the right one" have diminished
how have the number of ways to meet the right one diminshed?
We have more social activities and locations now than ever.
But I do agree with the first parts of that statement, there is no real imbalance and we are all getting tired of being alone.....except I would like to add, also tired of trying to meet unrealistic expectations by potential partners when you do meet.

I think there are beautiful women everywhere. In Russia, Ukraine and Montreal, it seemed that one or two out of every 10 women I passed on the street could be a model. I guess beautiful can become average.
I'm not complaining about the prospects in the GTA area either.  | |

+1 on the European influence. Last long term GF had a polish/italian background, dated a hungarian/italian. Foreign design but built here in Canada!!! lol
And I think the stats show that Canadians are healthier than our neighbours to the south, and being healthy helps you look healthy. Everybody has to spend a week in Montreal... there are grandmothers there that are hot. | |

Oh - guess I'd better say something about the OP (or risk the wrath of ... Them ...)
Ahem ... I remember a lesson taught to me (by one of the most wonderful Newfs I've ever had the pleasure of serving with ... but ... I digress ...) - anyway ... he explained that "down home" all the men move away to find work, leaving an imbalance in the male-female ratio ... or, more accurately - increasing the number of lovely young ladies looking for that incredibly scarce natural resource: The Near-Mythical "Good/Decent Man" (i.e. fit to be the father of their babies).
By extrapolation, it can thus be seen that in densely populated centres with high employment there will be more "attractive" potential mates - by this I mean "gainfully-employed folks who don't live under a rock" (but, sadly, also a corresponding swell in lamprey eels, carp/bottom feeders, and zebra muscles - yes, I know it's spelled "mussels" - it's a joke, for crying out loud ... take a frikkin' pill with that water, willya?)
