The problem is, and allways will be,..."THEIR POLITICIANS",.....and arent looking out for our best intrest,.....
They pay us, "Lip Service",..and Promise to Balance The Budget, Fix Social Security,
and reduce the National Debt,.....
Yet what do se get ?
A bunch of SELF SERVING POLITICANS,....that are only worried about voteing themselves another pay raise.
Another means of the Rich Getting Richer,....and creating more Poor. | |

I informed the aide that the senator's "no" vote to reinstate the writ of habeas corpus was something I could never, ever overlook or consider as a compromise. I informed the aide that I would never vote for her again as long as I'm alive unless she takes immediate steps to apologize for/explain her vote to the citizens of Maryland...and that she should re-introduce the legislation as soon as possible. I have told as many Marylanders as possible and have encouraged them to vote for her democratic opposition in the next voting cycle. | |

Or is it the consensus of this thread that there is no such thing? If you are not a soldier in uniform - perhaps you are a terrorist, partisan, revolutionary, or a guerilla in a civil war- then you are a civilian and must be treated legally as such? | |

You must have your head in the sand, ...
and not paying attention to the Anti Gun Lobby,... that groups like the National Rifle Association, and others,... are fighting, to make sure that an American can keep their rights to own a gun.
New laws,...and bans, ...on certain type guns,... are put into place every year.
Case in point,.....
President Bill Clinton,....with the stroke of a pen,....took away more gun rights than all the other Presidents combined.
Bill Clinton singned into law, ...a ban on such a huge ammount of guns, ...types of guns,
considered,... "Saturday Night Specials",....but were not.
Case in point,...the Chinese Norince 45 Cal. Semi Auto 1911 COLT,....clone.
The Chinese Norinco 1911 45 Semi Auto,....is almost an exact clone of the US ARMY 1911 Model 45 Semi Auto,.......
It looks indentical,...but is made with just a little tighter tolerance in the slide,....
which in proper hands, can shoot a tighter group of shots, compaired to the
US ARMY 1911 45 Semi Auto.
The cost difference ,
at the time I bought my Chinese Norinco 1911 45 Caliber Clone (pre ban) 1998 (?)
Chinese Norinco 1911 45 Caliber Semi Auto,.....$219
COLT MODEL 1911 45 Caliber Semi Auto,.....$520
Chinese Norinco Clone,........"BANNED",.....
Just like a lot of other type guns, and magizines,......that you can still buy today, but not from that Country, or Manufactuer.

This, from United States Public Law No. 109-366, the "MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT OF 2006": (formerly known as S.3930 and HR.6166)
`Sec. 948a. Definitions
`In this chapter:
`(1) UNLAWFUL ENEMY COMBATANT- (A) The term `unlawful enemy combatant' means--
`(i) a person who has engaged in hostilities or who has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States or its co-belligerents who is not a lawful enemy combatant (including a person who is part of the Taliban, al Qaeda, or associated forces); or
`(ii) a person who, before, on, or after the date of the enactment of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, has been determined to be an unlawful enemy combatant by a Combatant Status Review Tribunal or another competent tribunal established under the authority of the President or the Secretary of Defense.
Basically, anybody the President or the SecDef designates an "unlawful enemy combatant", retroactively if need be, is one.

That's my point - you and everybody else here are clearly dissatisfied with this. So
(1) what would be a satisfactory definition?
(2) does the definition work retroactively, or does every unlawful enemy combatant get full civil protections until they are so designated? The implication being that their first act can only be prosecuted criminally.
(3) or do you reject the idea that there should be a class between uniformed military and civilian? The implication being that non-uniformed paramilitaries can only be prosecuted criminally and individually, and the military not used against them. | |
