The first anniversary of the day we met, I arrived home from work feeling glum and sorry for myself.
I knew it was our anniversary, but my boyfriend hadn't even mentioned it.

As I stepped through my front door, the first thing I saw was path of rose-petals and softly lit candles.
Romantic and sensual music was playing, and my whole place seemed spotlessly clean.

The delicious aroma of something wonderful cooking in the oven made my mouth water.

The path of rose petals and candles led to the open door of the bathroom, where a hot steaming bath awaited, complete with candles and rose petals in the water.

A gorgeous rose-coloured silk robe lay over a chair, and to my extreme delight, on the chair lay the most gorgeous sheer lace and silk rose pink bra and tiny matching panty set.

High -heeled pink silk slippers and very sheer silk stockings with pink garter belt completed the ensemble.

I slipped from my work clothes immediately, and sunk into the fragrant warmth of the bath.

After bathing luxouriously, I towelled myself dry, I slipped the stockings over my legs, and dressed in the incredible lingerie and robe.

I couldn't but stare at myself in the full-lengh mirror, the satin heels and stockings gave me the look of a lingerie model.

Sauntering to the bedroom, I stopped at the door. Scattered over my bedspread were a
profusion of deep pink roses, how many dozen I have no idea.

The room smelled like an English garden after a summer shower.

Pinned to my pillow, I found a hand-written card....."To the sweetest and most beautiful flower I 've ever seen"

Tears of joy gratitude and deep love stung my eyes, I knew I could never be happier.
Could any man ever love a woman more.....IN MY DREAMS.....LOL.....

he showed up on my birthday, right after his long flight (over 6000 miles...) and everything was set by his ordered in prior...
You can imagine how sweet it is if you know he had to work 16 hours/ day with a hectic schedule and he had to flight back the next day ... Still have a room for him in my heart and mind though

My ex sends me a letter bomb every Valentine's day. I'm not sure if she signs it 'From me to you' though as I never get the chance to read it to the end.

I was in a long-term relationship with a military man and we were often apart when he was on active duty or on exercises.
We always seemed to be apart for the special occasions and holidays, so one year we knew he was going to be leaving once again at the beginning of December and wouldn't be back until the following summer.

On my birthday, he was spending the day with my then young daughter while I was at work. I came home tired and just wanted to have a quiet night. But, when I walked in the door, I discovered that he and my daughter had spent the day shopping and decorating the house.

My Christmas tree was set up, the garland was strung through the house, and the living room was filled with pressies! I was so overwhelmed I started crying. They also bought me a beautiful heart-shaped tree ornament for me to put on the tree. I still have it to this day.

This man was very thoughtful and romantic, so there were plenty of romantic gestures from him! Another thing he would do when he was away was send me a card and letter via snail mail at least once a week. It always touched me deeply to open the mail box and find a colorful envelope in with the bills and junk mail. To know that even when he was sitting in his tank somewhere in Europe and still found the time to think about me meant the world to me!

The ex gave me a birthday card that said (he wrote inside a blank card):

I may always be younger than you are............. but your teeth will always be whiter (and a card from my dentist that said he had made arrangements for me to have my teeth whitened). He knew I had wanted this.................

For his birthday, I had bought my then husband a new wedding band because his had broken. On our wedding anniversary he presented me with a lovely jewelery box with a brass, engraved plate that said "Happy Anniversary, Love Bill". When I opened the jewel box, inside was a heart shaped ring box and inside that was the matching wedding band to the one I had bought him...it still makes me misty eyed.....

I love that Lonewolf that is precious. I think the sweetest thing a guy ever did for me was several years ago. I love daisies they always make me smile.

Well I was having a rotten day at work like we all do, He called me during lunch time we talked for only a few. Made plans to meet up.
That afternoon he sent me a bouquet of Daisies with the card
Telling me he couldn't stand it if I didn't smile. So hoping this one helps.
Idon't think anyone has ever done anything that sweet since

The lady I was seeing a little while ago actually brought ME a rose. Not that I get all mushy like that, but that was such a sweet and out of the norm gesture, it really made me melt, showed she really cared.

My ex used to leave a bag of Doritos underneath my pillow on the eve of one of my days off...knowing I'd want to stay up and read, or watch a little TV before falling asleep, and that I LOVED munching on Doritos at night:)

He often left me funny notes in my lunches and my co-workers and I would crack up just reading them...he often mentioned them too in his messages:)

The most extravagant thing he did was shortly after we bought our first home...we'd been saving for many years for a decent down payment, so money was tight when we first moved in. The little bit of money we had left over all went for the necessary repairs and upgrades we put on the house.

But ever since I was a little girl, I had promised myself that if I ever was so lucky to own my own home, I'd buy myself a big old-fashioned wooden swing for the backyard...the double seater ones, just like our grand-parents used to have.

One day, we were just driving by and we happened to see this place with a guy who hand built them.... and his swings were the most beautiful ones I had ever seen. Of course we stopped and we tried several, both dreaming of one day owning one of them...me especially.

Two weeks later, I was coming home from work and what did I see sitting there in my backyard but the most gorgeous swing ever!! Just the thought that he had gone out and bought it and had arranged to have it delivered without my knowing about it touched me deeply.

And it didn't matter that he had charged it on our visa and that we both ended up paying interest on it...haha... ( our money was always pooled together anyway) .....it was the fact that he KNEW how much that swing meant to me. That was very romantic indeed and we spent many happy summers on that swing...*sigh*....

Anyway...to me romance is often just the little things that one does to make the other one feel cherished...and it doesn't have to cost anything...or very little :)

One GF some years ago offered to set up a threesome with her, me and a GF of hers for my birthday. I said it was OK, no need for that, but I appreciated the gesture. I think she did it to test me because she was very happy when I said I would pass!

There was this one guy....he was traveling from England so he didn't have much money. After we had spent some time with each other he went away to Whistler for a month or so later to call me up and ask me to come get him. He took me out for dinner...later to tell me that the last he time he had ever gone out for dinner was with me...and he said he never ate out because he had been saving his money...so that he could take me out I thought wow...he was doing all that for me and considering I've had another ex who did make a lot of money and couldn't be bothered to take me out for lunch...I thought that was an amazing gesture of dedication and probably the most romantic thing anyone's done for me...kind of odd that the latter would propose marriage and not the former...so my answer to the latter was an obvious no...had the former proposed I would have certainly said yes!!!

My ex... He came over on the evening of Christmas so that I wouldn't be alone for Christmas. We spent 11 hours together that time. He left the next morning. All 11 hours was spent talking and watching movies. Very nice romantic night.

Then there was another time when he took me out to the country to see animals because I love animals and because I was feeling down. We also spent the whole day and night together. Very nice date again.

Then there was another time when he came over in the middle of the night because I was upset at him, and he gave me a back rub because I was having back pain. He even had a massage oil he just bought. lol. Very thoughtful of him I must say. :)

We were living in the North Carolina mountains, and after being very sick , unable to do our normal hiking through the forest, and having to take several weeks off, he went into the forest and dug up and transplanted flame azaela plants all around our house, in a effort to cheer me and bring a smile to my face. He brought them to me as I couldn't go to them.

Very, very sweet of him to do !

This might not be romantic, but I went to an island with my ex. She only brought sandals. There was a LOT of hiking uphill and downhill over a stone path. The grass was full of cactuses.

Well she couldn't hike in sandals, so she started walking barefoot and the rock paths were pretty harsh. Part of it was dirt, the other part was rocks that were just there.

Because she was walking barefoot, I took off my shoes and gave them to her. and walked 3 miles shoeless so we could get to the general store to buy her new shoes.

Sure its not the most romantic thing... but hey it has to mean something.

I also hiked a mile to blow up our air mattress. Then carried the air mattress a mile up a mountain on my head with pretty strong winds that were blowing me and the mattress like a sail.

Fortunately, the vast majority of my exes were pretty darn sweet and thoughtful. Things that stand out in my mind...........one used to always get up and make us coffee and bring me a cup in bed, without fail. We'd lay there drinking our coffee, talking and laughing; a great way to start the day. He'd often leave post-it notes for me to find; tucked in my shoe, on my bathroom mirror, in my pocket, on the steering wheel of my car......with something sweet but not corny-sweet written on it. Another used to surprise me by packing up a bag for me and telling me we were going somewhere for the weekend; a surprise. Surprises are nice! One used to send me flowers at work with a flirty/sweet note he'd handwritten, that always made my day. One used to take my car and wash it for me (which freaked me out the first time because I looked out and saw my car wasn't there and thought it had been stolen from in front of my house! LOL). One ex went to all the trouble once to surprise me; he went and bought a bunch of groceries (nice cheese, crackers, good wine, and my all-time favorite Jelly Bellies LOL) and took us on a picnic in the mountains. It was really very sweet and showed a lot of thought. Lastly, the same guy once came to my place before I got off work; he made me a really nice dinner, had candles going everywhere, my favorite CD playing, had a bath tub run for me. It was amazing!!!! Of course there were some exes who thought they were being romantic by letting me have a turn using the TV remote or by poking their finger into my nostril as a sign of affection.

The most romantic or sweetest thing I ever did for a guy was cook dinner, then I moved all the furniture out of the living room and put a huge blacket on the floor. Put candles all around and rose petals everywhere on the floor around it. I set the blanket up like a picnic, and we ate on the floor....it was suppose to be a romantic night. But he thought it was a bad idea i think and wasnt too impressed.

I cannot think of anything romantic any man has done for me....hmmm...thats a shame. Im such a hopeless romantic too.

I was seeing someone and one day he came to visit me at work.
He told me that my car lights were left on, and I gave him my keys asking him
to turn them off because I was with some customers. At the end of the night,
I got into my car and on the dashboard was a rose. I turned on the car and was about to call him and thank him for the rose when some romantic music began to play about
falling in love :) I still have the cd ( although him and i didn't work out, great guy though!)
