Was he the one that crash in the first few laps of a race recently? I think a few are regular early crashers | |

Posted: 2/13/2008 5:41:04 AM | Jr. has to do it this year, but I think he will. He doesn't have to worry about all the baggage with his Dad's company anymore.
If anyone from Hendricks has to step up more, it's Mears. He has to make the chase this year; but I think he'll be a contender.
Drivers like Gilliland has to get his stuff together or else he'll probably need to get another ride, same with Mayfield and Riggs. Labonte also has to have a consistent season from start to finish, and break the winless streak. | |

Posted: 2/13/2008 9:32:05 AM | Sauter is not even in Cup this year, he's in Nationwide, lol. He took a new car last year from Haas and got them in the Top 35 in points and gets bumped faster than Kurt Busch on the track.
I feel for Sorenson. Third season at Ganassi and he doesn't have a victory while Montoya has one already with just one season under his belt. If Sorenson doesn't make progress this year, he's in trouble. | |

Speaking of shrub: how is it he manages to get smashed all to Hades and back,but still rides in the chase? lol ...gonna choke on some words...maybe he deserves more accolades than he gets. Don't care for him,but I woulda guessed Mears instead of Busch

Posted: 2/13/2008 10:37:50 AM | Nonono, not Kyle. :-) Kyle is actually the better driver in my opinion even though Kurt has more wins and a title. Kurt has been major lucky (apparently there was no alcohol when pulled over, he is just an ***hole) that Penske has been so supportive after Roush said get lost.
I feel bad for Sauter. I liked him, but Haas I think is desperate; and are feeling the major crunch to get sponsorship, etc.
Mears' situation is that ever since he went to Cup in 04, he switched between teams on Ganassi twice. He was with the old 25 team on Hendricks last year, and now he is on the 5; so he's never had the chance to have stability with a team and a crew chief. Now that he is on the 5, I think he will be just fine. He had his first win last year, and he finished the second half of the season solid. In my mind, he's the perfect dark horse.
I am just wondering when Childress is going to get their engine problems behind them. They have not been fast. | |

Everyone is hard on Dale Jr. about being overrated, what about Kasey Kahn, when he came into the league a few years ago he was projected as the next Jeff Gordon. Last year he was racing with Dale Jarrett, David Stremme, and Johnny Sauter. Two of which don't have rides now, and Dale Jarrett is retiring because he is past his prime. | |

But in his defense, Evernham screwed up big time on their program thanks to Eric Warren, and they're still playing catch up. Had he passed Biffle, that would have been seven Dodges in the Top 10. They still had six in the Top 8, that is damn impressive. | |

Posted: 3/14/2008 8:08:09 PM | Up until the Atlanta race Kasey was the only driver to finish in all the races in the top 10 (I know it hasn't been that many races) but he's proven so far that this year "could" hopefully be a better year for them.
My friend Chris Miko drives the Transporter & gasman on the # 9 Nationwide team & last year Evernham brought the crew chief & a bunch of other team members from the Ultra team & caused a BIG major turn over in Evernham & team members were pulled off teams & moved around inside the shop, etc...it was bad. Then I saw Miko at Daytona & he told me they got their old crew chief back & things were getting better, etc.
I agree that with Kasey & Evernham getting the Budweiser sponsorship they AS A TEAM have to step it up. I mean it's like with Dale, Jr..he wasn't producing & everyone was thinking he was a crappy driver then he goes to Hendricks & look at him now. So Kaseys performance isn't 100% him; it's also the cars Evernham gives him too. Each car is set up to the way the driver likes it & the track, etc..I know for a fact Kasey & Elliotts cars are not set up the same at the same races...close but not the same.

The other older drivers aren't qualifying, or they wreck early on
Unfortunately, these rookies don't appear to me to "be there" yet

Posted: 3/15/2008 8:35:00 AM | Hey Mag, did I tell you the Atlanta Journal did an article on my boy; Casey Roderick? It's finally been announced publicly that Roush is building him an ARCA car for when he turns 16 in August. Robby Reiser is building it for him; it's one of Mark Martins old CUP cars. Ed Clark that is President of the Atlanta Motor Speedway said "this is going to be Georgia's next NASCAR driver"...I KNEW IT !! I was cornering everyone at the ARCA Awards Banquet about him & then Ken & David Ragan have been helping him get exposed as well as running with Justin Souths ARCA team.
This kid is good; his record is amazing & beat Jeff Gordons 1st go kart Championship record. Casey won his 1st go kart Championship at 5 yrs old in the 9-10 yr old range !! He missed the Lowes Summer Shootout Championship last year by a few points but won several times before, won the AMS Thursday Thunder Championship & Pro Legends Championship at Lanier (again)..he was the GA Champion went to Vegas for the Nationals & won the race that was just for the State Champions & the actual National Championship race (2 yrs in a row-not been done in his class)...he's truly amazing, nice, shy & knows racing & his car. He's been winning race after race in a 10 yr old borrowed car. | |

Posted: 3/23/2008 8:06:24 AM | | In Mayfields defense I think he is a decent third driver on most four car teams. However I agree with avril57 Johnny Sauter should have never lost his ride to Jeremy. Johnny Sauter is really talented and has proven that over and over again. It is unfortunate that he doesn't seem to be sponsor friendly. I think he could win some races given the right opportunity. | |
