| What do you miss about being in a relationship?

I was with my ex husband 15 years and now divorced 4.. all my life (since I was 13, (yes 13 I looked and told people I was 19) I have never been alone... I broke up with my ex boyfriend 3 months ago because he found out he had another child a baby that was 5 months he never knew the chick was preg ..we were together 10 months and so happy. but for me that was his 4th kid under the age of 9 and that was just to much for me to handle a "baby"... now I have almost a fear of getting to know someone new, like the message above me..weeding through and the chit chat and learning about someone and all it's hard and you think "man when will it end" Now I am at the point where I think why bother.......
but then again.......... LOL  why else am I on plenty of fish??!! | |

No, not because it was great (it wasn't) but the feelings that I felt when we were in that moment. I miss the way he became my best friend and I had someone I could share my secrets and my dreams with and who motivated me to work harder. | |

ok...mathmatically, I could subtract out any mindless stupid arguments over petty bullchit becaue life is WAY shorter than most people even realize....but other than that...pretty much everything.
Lately though, there is one thing that is constantly resurfacing simply because of my professional life....
I'm starting to dread the walk down airport hallways to the security checkpoint where people are waiting for their loved one to come walking down from their flights. (reminding myself every time that there was a time not so long ago when you used to see their face right at the GATE.) I generally do a scan of all the faces who are eagerly looking down the hallway in anticipation of that first view of the one they're waiting for, and then to see the smile come on their face once they recognize the person....followed by a wave, or something...and then the hug or the kiss once that person reaches the checkpoint, realizing of course that not one of them is waiting for me. I used to watch it, give a slight smile (inside actually, it was not a smile), then I would just try to ignore it.... But lately, it's been like that "eruption" scene in "The 40 Year Old Virgin", where the BUS with the BILLBOARD ends up FOLLOWING him. (minus the DOGS HUMPING) I get off a plane so many times during a week, you think I would be used to it by now.
Eventually I start playing the 'plane scene' from Harry Met Sally in my head, and remind myself that even if I WAS in a relationship, there would probably come a time when I would not be at the 'beginning' of a relationship anymore...and I would wind up saying "how come you don't take me to the AIRPORT ANYMORE?"......Just to stuff it all back DOWN!!

Mostly, I just miss having a best friend, with all the benefits! :)

-I miss the fun conversations over the candlit dinner
-I miss snuggling up to watch a show infront of the fireplace
-I miss conserving water while taking a FUN shower!
-I miss holding hands while walking down the street
-I miss laying on a blanket outside staring up at the sky making pictures out of the clouds and telling stories
-I miss having someone that you can tell anything and everything to without either of us passing judgement
-I miss spooning

I miss running my fingers along his chest..
The way we always made our feet touch, as we both fell asleep....
Rolling over and saying "Good Morning" then kissing him good bye, telling him to " Have a Great Day !"

The good times with many laughs, the not so good days, even the emberrassing moments. -being tired at the end of my day and finally coming home... then suddenly my lover wants to come over... and just hearing the news and seeing them suddenly revitalizes me and makes my day ten times brighter... and worth it.
-having someone take care of me and be there for me... i have had several relationships... but sadly enough i haven't had one like that in 5 YEARS. somehow i always manage to find someone who takes and doesn't give back.
-overwhelming lust and desire for the other person that when you kiss them passionately makes you feel like you can't stop.
-caressing the other persons face, making them laugh, taking their hand in mine, staring into their eyes and running my fingers through their hair out of affection.
-having someone that inspires poems and love letters... then writing and giving them to them
-too much to mention

Things like arguing over where you're going to go eat? Trying to figure out ways to avoid hanging out with their crazy family members? Listening to them **** about where you've been and where you're going and what you're going to do? How about the part where they just don't like your friends for whatever reason?
I've come to the conclusion that my dream man will be an orphaned, decisive, friendly, secure man with a sex drive that deserves an honorable mention in Ripley's Believe It Or Not...
Should I find him...I'll be back with a more fitting answer for this one. | |
