I've gotten far worse than that in unsolicited e-mails from folks who obviously have nothing better to do with their time. If I did send someone an e-mail, I would expect them not to simply not respond if they were not interested.
Of course, as delicate as the race issue is for some people, I can understand how someone would be turned off by asking about your preference for any race (even their own) without even seeing your picture. | |

sometimes it's taught by your parents or friends but lots of times it's taught by the other race.
having a racial preference is different than racism. i happen to like blondes. my friends say you could put a blonde wig on a mop, attach strings to it, jiggle it around and i'll want to take it out on a date. that doesn't mean i don't like brunettes or redheads.
it's a preference. not a hate. so if you prefer to date only a certain race it's a preference. | |

Jordan: No one can actively or passively choose to be a victim of racism or any other isms.
Was Matthew Sheppard not a victim?!
Was James Byrd not a victim?
Are people with non-white American sounding names not victims when a HR person decides not to call he/she in for an interview?
Are the Katrina survivors not victims of FEMA?
Once this "victim" bull, created by conservatives, is cross-examined, one can easily see the ridiculousness of it.
Just a way to divert attention away from the racists/sexists/etc-ists and onto their targets.

I have not met many black women I was attracted to in the past but whether that makes me racist or not I don't know. I would certainly never respond like that though. What a stupid cow. I see the racism card used simply as a way of manipulating or intimidating people. It could simply be a part of someone's weaponry to stop you in your tracks and make you "stop and think", which was precisely the effect it had? I would ask yourself what you think this person really wanted. What did they get out of accusing you of this? Food for thought.

maybe she was afraid to date black men and that was her reaction.
a story ran in the paper the other day by the Associated Press. it confirmed the the FBI stated that 10,067 murders occured in 2007 and more than half the people arrested for those murders were black.
so i guess she was just making an intelligent decision. | |

Posted: 1/10/2009 6:13:04 PM | I have been a victim of racism but that is life. I take it with a grain of salt. What bugs me though is someone asking me on an initial contact, "Have you ever had a black man?" Or "Do you do black?" Or change that to Italian, native etc. How can you answer that? It is such a red flag, I tend to say, I am sorry but I have a phone call or something else. If I said, "ewwwww no". I would be a racist. 
I think some people are so lacking in communication skills that some comments are construed as racism simply because they are said without any tact. Sometimes questions are phrased in such a way that any negative reply could be taken as racism.
Sometimes the source of the question is expecting to be treated with racism and are at the outset already on the defensive and preparing to pounce offensively. | |

Everybody has preferences or likes or whatever, pulling out the "I'm a victim of racism" is a really big call and a pretty unfair one. I'm not interested in dating a black guy but I don't care that you ARE black as a person.
We all need to put it in perspective and see when it actually IS racism on important issues. If you didn't get a job, or a housing loan or something like that just because you are black then yeah, that's probably racism, but asking a stranger if they date black guys and they respond 'no' then it's not really racism. Onwards and upwards. | |

bigotry - where you dislike/avoid/hate/preach against another race of people.

adolph hitler was a racist (he believed the german's were the "master race") and the jews were inferior, therefore he ordered the execution of millions of them. and millions were murdered as a result. | |

Posted: 1/11/2009 9:34:21 AM | Asking a non black woman if she would date a black guy isn`t a good move anyways. Would you ask a black woman that?You are setting yourself up for a confrontation. I think it is kind of seeding and putting a woman in a very uncomfortable place, and really not fair. Why does it even have to be brought up in the first place, at least like that, in your face. I think it is a bit aggressive.
Some people choose to date interracially and some don`t. That is their own business and they don`t have to wear it on their sleeves. I`ve been asked that by both white and black men and find it a very annoying and forward. Then they feel they have a right to judge you from your decision. It`s just not very polite. I would never ask a man that. I may ask what his opinion of interacial dating or if he had dated women from other coutries or cultures, but breaking it down to a skin color issue is just tacky. | |
