I've seen women go without them in a business suit - tacky, tacky, tacky. If you are going to dress a certain way, complete the look for crying out loud!

Posted: 12/13/2007 5:13:42 PM | For me its because I rarely wear a dress anymore. My job now requires casual wear so I've adopted a casual style. When I do wear a dress or skirt I always wear hose unless its summer and were off to a beach party.
I have to disagree with many of the female posters. Your legs do not look better without hose. I see this all the time and I think its tacky and ruins the outfit. Yes, panty hose can get expensive and by the end of the day you want to rip them off but without them, why buy the skirt. | |

Posted: 12/13/2007 10:47:15 PM | The last time I wiggled into a pair of pantyhose was when I went to a wedding, but on the way home my car started acting up. The steering belt was slipping so I whipped off the pantyhose, tied them around the pulleys on the motor and made it home safe and sound. Never wore pantyhose again after that, they are way too uncomfortable and expensive to boot.

personally iam not into seeing bare legs but if it means women wearing a skirt or a dress then iam all for it.
tho it seems most women think stockings are the biggest turn on for guys i really do love to see women wearing tights.......its more fun pulling them down.
i really dont like to see hold-ups, if a woman has got to wear things like that then it has to be with suspenders and belt.
cant wait for the summer months for more glimpses of stocking tops. | |

cant find them anymore! Remember a place called Parklane Hoisery...thats gone and were left with a local walgreen/mart or such place and ppplleeaaassee, the selection is old fashioned stuff....

Oh the real obstacle is attitude! Forgt the pantyhose. The attitudes touted by the womens rags are the real problem.
If the girl realy wants you then her pantyhose will be not problem. You are thinking of a girl who changes her mind, between when you first get hold of her pantyhose, and when you remove them.
If the girls got the right attitude she simply WONT chage her mind. More likely she'll gripe about you rushing things and she can't savour the feel of being slowly undressed. | |

I wear pants the majority of the time, so knee-high trouser socks are what usually ends up between my feet and my shoes. Whenever I'm in a skirt it's thigh-highs. I think I own one pair of pantyhose and it was purchased in an airport when I discovered a run and had no other option but to wear pantyhose or one thigh-high. That's a maybe. I don't know if I even still have them. I may have left them in my hotel room when I left that city. I do have tights and I like them, though have very few dresses I can wear them with. I just remember wearing them under my skirt when I was in high school because our uniform skirts were not nearly as warm as they needed to be for the weather some days.
I don't mind the feeling of nylons at all. In fact, I think it finishes my outfit quite nicely and calls attention to the leg within the entire outfit, instead of as a part that's unfinished and screaming "I'M LAZY!" I'm also quite happy to show off my legs, though, and I think nylons (whether thigh-high or pantyhose) do that better than just the leg alone.
Pantyhose are a pain though. The ability to salvage half of the expense of the pair when one is ruined and the magic grip that keeps them where they belong makes thigh highs totally worth it for me. | |

regardless of the thickness of the material..............in the UK we associate TIGHTS and PANTYHOSE to be the same things.
STOCKINGS are stockings no matter what.
something else i have read that has two different meanings.....PANTS, pants in the UK is another name for KNICKERS or PANTIES.....and not used in the UK as another name for TROUSERS.
it does however seem that TIGHTS/HOSE is not as popular with either sex as much as stockings, i have always loved tights/hose and to see womenin them.
This might have something to do with the fact that in all my adult years i have never been with a woman who has worn STOCKINGS , some have worn various types of tights tho most have never worn anything on their legs.
i was recently chatting to a woman on POF, we were chatting about such things as tights/stockings, she said she was going to wear tights when we met up, i was all excited at the thought of this , it was until she lifted her skirt to show me her " hold ups " that the excitement went.............damn, what a shame, tho i did manage to keep the hoild ups .................lol
tights for me everytime......uuuummmmm

Always picking and pulling....Control Top LOL,gussets with poly cotton (cotton lined) that half the time stretch the wrong way. I think chain mail armor would be more comfortable to wear....and they look better. The only thing these things are good for is if a fan belt broke on your car they can replace them till you get to a garage  Or if you forgot your ATM card you can always pull a pair over your head and make a big bank withdrawl  Or god forbid our other half is haveing a bad hair day    | |

Tights = non-opaque leggings that are thinner than what one thinks of when they think of the eighties legging phase in America, and encase the foot; can be all one colour or multiple colours for added fun!
Pantyhose = opaque leggings of a sheer variety in a number of shades of natural skin tone as well as shades of white and black; includes a full coverage to the waist and can have a variety of specialized features built in, such as tummy-tucking tops or sheer toes.
Nylons = See Pantyhose, could apply to thigh-highs as well depending on the speaker
Thigh-highs = All the same stuff as pantyhose, but without the panties. Leg covering that extends from the tip of the toe to the high-thigh area, often secured with a rubberized band around the thigh or a garter belt. Also known as stockings. Usually in shades of natural skin tone plus whites and blacks.
Trouser socks = thin, knee-high socks designed to be worn with dress shoes under dress slacks or trousers. Not as sheer as pantyhose, usually.
Knee socks = See Catholic School Uniform.

I still prefer thigh highs and trouser socks to anything else. It's probably better for me in the hygiene department as well. It makes sense... all that synthetic material keeping things damp and moist and... ugh! Seems that a little bit of air throughout the day would keep things fresher for you gents by the time we get home. It's also easier access with less destruction of clothing when you finally get around to that point in the evening. | |

I wear pantihose except in the summer when they're too hot. My favorite brand is DIM (sheer to waist, they're comfortable and don't easily run). I avoid control top because they are extremely uncomfortable.
During the summer pantihose are too hot. Instead, I wear fishnets (the ones with small holes) or stockings and garters. Both are breathable. Stockings often have pretty lace at the top that nobody sees but I know is there (my little secret). I like how my legs look when wearing hosiery.
I have tried pantihose with seams up the back of each leg. They looked good but it was challenging to keep the seam straight. | |

I curse the person who invented them..(just joking) And one size does NOT fit all.
Now silk stockings are different..first they fit better, look better, and feel better...and they rarely rip, or run. Also they don't go OVER your underwear, which just feels ick. Yes...they are more expensive...but thy are worth it. I like the seamed ones...black. Either stay-ups or with a nice satin garter (and bra to match).
However..I rarely wear stockings either..I'm a jeans kind of girl. And my legs are in good enough shape that I don't have to cover them up with the EVIL pantyhose.
