some of them only give you an hour to prove yourself,

You can get it done in a half hour or less with me - but there's nothing to prove - either you click or you don't, usually within about 5 minutes or so...the rest is just to finish the coffee...

and then spend 50 minutes of it on the phone, and usually its someone else from here, it happened to me recently, i sat there while she arranged a date with someone else for the next night, whats that all about

This I don't get - people should never make new arrangements on a meeting, IMO it should all be private. Nothing wrong with talking to/setting up more than one, but it's tacky to overlap everyone and talk to one in front of another. Keep them all separate. While your with someone you should focus on just them - and if you can't do that in under an hour, you really have attention span problems.

OP I don't use mine on dates & I always have mine on vibrate or silent anyway because I just don't like when those "ringtones" go off loudly in public. I very seldom use mine in public places, frankly. I wouldn't even use it on a date however for checking voicemails or any kind of "txts" or anything like that. I agree that it can very quickly come off as rude , barring some sort of emergency call or something like that. Some people seem to have those cell phones surgically attached to the sides of their heads. But the worst of all, IMO at least, are those "headset" hands-free things, where they walk around looking just like they're talking to themselves , oftentimes quite loudly at that, even inside a store or what-have-you. If someone arrived on a date talking on one of those, a hands-free headset or earpiece or whatever it is, that would be one of the few situations where I'd actually go to the mens' room and never return.
