Ok...this is actually my very first time posting to a forum..so, hopefully this'll work.

I would LOVE for you to review my profile. Pick it apart. I think an unbiased opinion would be great.

I don't want to start an independant thread for this so I will try to ask this here, it's not so much my profile itself as it is my pictures. I received an e-mail today and while I won't go into the exact comment I received, I would like to ask someone on here (don't know if the OP is here for business or not lol) but if anyone can maybe check my photos and just tell me if they appear to be "normal" , I am not talking about the photo quality either as in blurriness and clarity , but in terms of how I set them up and took the picture, is there anything wrong with my photos that would make you think they are alittle "wierd"?

Just wondering this because earlier today I received a not so kind comment about them that really ripped into me, and it just makes me wonder what can be wrong with my photos in terms of how I actually took them, not in terms of the actual image clarity, but in my facial gestures and the actual shot ect.

Maybe if you can even message me personally to tell me what you think and what you would say, I would appreciate the help and assistance.

Same as before - I have pointed out which issues your profile needs attention on. Once these issues are fixed up please feel free to notify me and I'll give them another go through.

The detailed issues post is on page 10, post number 231. Please read through this post for a full explanation of your particular issue. Quick reference for issues is below:

1 - title, 2 - picture, 3 - interests, 4 - about me

Untitled5:
Issues #1, 2, 3, 4 (Ouch! All of them!)

kristinep:
Issues #1, 3, 4

stormy15:
The problem with your title is that it's a "seeking..." profile. It should be a statement about yourself or an indirect statement of your personality. What you want is already implied within the context of this being a dating site.

jivejane:
I skipped you because the way you phrased your last post here implied that you wouldn't be able to find my reply at all. I've looked at your profile and this is what you need:

Title is exemplary - a simple comment about yourself. Great!

Pictures - Generally no problems, but don't post ones with other people in them. Also I recommend changing your primary picture to a face picture so that it shows up better in a preview as opposed to a full body picture.

Interests: Quantity is enough, but please delete "Friends" and "Family" - way too generic.

About me:
The photo dating was interesting... never seen that before. It's fine.

My biggest complaint off the bat is there is way too much spacing - 6 individual sections. This needs to be in 2 sections, not 1 sentence paragraphs. Do some space compression here.

Other than that this is another excellent example for everyone else of the kind of profile you should be aiming for - simple and to the point, says what you want and what you are without any jaded complaining or disqualifying statements. Really I am so impressed with this. Just clean up the spacing a bit and you've got a winner.

And the First date... just leave that section blank.

Love_on_fire:
I looked at your pictures and I didn't find them to be warranting of a really nasty comment. Not factoring in image quality as you requested, my only complaint here is that if I looked at these pictures non stop for an hour and then had to do a police line-up I really don't know if I could pick you out. My point being, it's hard to tell what you really look like. Additionally, these are all extreme close up face pictures and not in one of them do you look even remotely happy. It sucks, but women are attracted to smiles. You need at least 1 smiling picture, and 1 full body picture.

Thank you my friend, I appreciate your help and your most accurate advice. That is what I was thinking too, that since some of my pics are close ups, that may create a sense of it being alittle unussual to some people. But nothing that looks "creepy" or anything!!??

I appreciate the honesty.

Thanks again

brutally honest? ok here goes, since you hit my thread, i'll return the fave.

anyone that uses photoshop for their pics automatically sets off red flags for me. it means they've got something to hide.

nothing is more unattractive than a girl who wears lots of make up, jewelry, hair spray and all the other crap the mainstream media sells to them, just to imitate the brainless twits that happen to be the twit du jour. why go to all the trouble in changing your exterior if you've got what really counts?

if you're healthy, loving and intelligent that means you're worth fighting for.

I don't have body pics now but I did read the page 10 thing and did change up my description and other things, so a profile review with more than just "it's all bad" would be helpful

no offence assclown but if thats about me, which im assuming it is.. first off.. no photoshop was used.. it was actually mostly taken with my webcam or digital camera and the lighting in my room was weird.. secondly.. the only reason ur targetting me is because I gave u a review u didnt like too much. and I've never tried to show off.. no offence but I'm not perfect nor all that skinny so ur really talking out of ur own ass.. because udont know anything about me. so please just back off if u havent got anything constructive to say. because your not the one who I wanted the profile review from, which obviously shows your picking on me. Please grow up. and move on!

Good job on the updates - here's your full review:

Title: Different, and a self statement - good

Pictures: not the highest quality but fits the minimums for an accurate self representation so this is fine. The only thing I would advise is if you get the chance to put up more pictures - have some that are taken outside and if possible with you smiling.

Interests: I'd like to see you fill this out a little bit more. And I don't mean just add more bulk, but rather get into more specifics. For example, instead of "music", list your top 3 favorite genres. I wouldn't list "working out" as this often gets misinterpreted as insecurity. Unless you are a serious die hard body builder I would remove this.

About me:
"...just happens to enjoy all things movies" - So you actually liked "From Justin to Kelly"? I would try to avoid really vast generalized statements like this and tighten up the focus a bit.

This is a pretty creative profile and shows a lot of personality so I'm not going to recommend any major adjustments. It's a tad short right now (not a bad thing) so I would suggest writing one or two statements that tell the reader a little about what kind of person you would like to meet.

My first other Washingtonian! Cool! As per your request I'll side step the lack of pictures for your review.

Title: Excellent! A great example for anybody looking for how to write a catchy title that is also a funny self statement.

Interests: The ones you have are good, but your 1 short of the minimum goal I suggest of 10. How about taking 'cooking' and splitting it into "Italian cooking", "chinese cooking", etc?

About Me:
The content amount is good, and has good spacing. Let's look at what the content actually contains:

"I am a newly divorced dad. " - While this is I'm sure an honest statement to me it says "not ready to date yet" - consider rewording it.

"I am not looking for a new mother for my daughter, she has one." - I see this on a lot of profiles word-for-word, and it's also a very harsh statement. I would rewrite or remove it.

"I am looking for someone to date me, not me AND my daughter." - I imagine this could really throw some women off track. When a woman agrees to date a man with kids, this sort of thing is usually implied.

The second paragraph seems to continue on this highly defensive stance you've taken. I would consider adjusting the voice you are using here. This doesn't seem friendly to me.

"Thanks for reading my profile." - Sounds a bit desperate, I would remove this.

I read through the updated info section - I think you should remove this and simply put in somewhere that you aren't looking to get married right away - just keep the voicing as very calm and relaxed and friendly about it and you should be fine. This much info is really not a good idea.
