| If you are sober/don't smoke have you, will you, do you date those that do drink/smoke?
Posted: 5/13/2008 8:57:32 AM | I'm a smoker and a social drinker. I personally don't have a problem with dating anyone who smokes however I refuse to date an alcoholic. There's a fine line between social drinking, a functioning alcoholic and an all out alcoholic. If you need a drink the minute you get home you're not for me!
The problem I see is that if you are a recovering alcoholic or former smoker you can no matter how hard your will power is get sucked back into it again! When I quit smoking.... I more than likely won't date a smoker because I don't want to get sucked back into it! | |

When I agree to meet people for a meeting,a drink,is a drink ,is a drink....O.K.?
WHETHER IT BE A MARTINI,MILK,POP, COFFEE,GREEN TEA,TALL REAL ICE CREAM SODAS,WHATEVER.
iF YOU HAD A PREVIOUS HISTORY WITH ALCOHOL, I WOULD UNDERSTAND TO SEE SOMEONE WHO ABSTAINS.
iF YOU HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, AND SEE SOMEONE WHO DOES IMBIBE,SOCIALLY OF COURSE, I DO NOT SEE THE PROBLEM.UNLESS THEY BECOME INCOHERENT,UNABLE TO DRIVE,VERBALLY OR PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE, OR ANY OTHER END RESULT OF OVER DOING DRINKING ,THEN I SEE NO PROBLEM.
IN THE END,IT IS YOUR CALL WHEN ITS 'LAST CALL'.

Posted: 5/13/2008 8:31:50 PM | Hardly ever yet met a smoker who didn't claim that they want to get clean. The fact that (1) they are dumb enough to start and (2) still haven't quit, is enough to tell you theu have a problem and smart people will steer clear of them.
Last time I was in RiteAid I noticed that they have literally dozens of aids for anybody with a modicum of willpower and honesty about their intentions to get clean. Then there's hypnosis etc., and - probably best of all - the twelve-step Nicotine Anonymous. | |

I thought when I started I would be able to quit because I've always been one with lots of will power. It has nothing to do with honesty about intentions to get clean....ALL smokers know smoking is not good for you it's about habits that are beyond hard to break!

We both drink socially but can have a fabulous time without it. If I were a recovering alcoholic, then I would not date someone who drinks, temptation would be too great.
I don't like it that he smokes, but he kisses great so what's a woman to do?  | |

I'm going on a date this weekend with a freind of mine i've known for quite some time, always had the hugest crush on him. I smoke, he dont, I want to quit but i cant by saturday, should i chew gum after every smoke?, becuase if I don't have one I could get ****y and thats not a good impression...he knows I do and I dont think it fases him, but hes a nice guy and could just be hidding his disgust. | |
