| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/12/2007 11:03:52 PM | Shinx...............stop teasing. I have all the camping gear, the Mohican is a great area to start, they have state park camping and primitive by the covered bridge and your child needs to get camp-a-fied. My little grandson will be here for 42 days and thats what we do all summer! As for the bugs, we learned a lesson in Florida, just use a Bounce sheet to keep the mosquitoes off. Oh, girl, we need to update on this. She will love Marcus and at Mohican there is kayaking, swimming, a little racetrack and miniature golf. You can get a package deal for $22 and enjoy all that for one price! As for the s'mores, roast some marshmallows, put them between graham crackers with some Hershey chocolate and you have breakfast..............come on Summer! | |

True, like to go hiking, rough it, but still open to the outdoors.
Take Care | |

| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/14/2007 10:12:57 PM | | I have done all varieties of camping, but if we want to go cabin camp I might be able to convince someone I know that has a campgrounds to let us in for a weekend or so if they have space. The cabins are full amenitied( bath, heat-a/c, beds) but I would have to check with thtem and go from there. Its in BFE, up about Brinkhaven or so, and the term turned off the paved road is very much part of the directions..... | |

| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/15/2007 10:57:12 AM | Oh no no no you guys are taking the fun out of it - no wireless service - no cells (unless to check on the kids b/c I guarantee if I get a dog sitter I call more than a parent haha) - just roughing it.
A perfect way for her to get over her fear of bugs is to throw her in the woods for an entire weekend - then she can't run away hahaha ;) Oh wow if she's going to a horse camp she's going to have to get used to it!!!!! Horses attract all kids of bugs - you're never clean around a horse - I love it :)

| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/15/2007 12:00:37 PM | | its gotta be old fashoned tent camping, theres nothing more relaxing then being in the wild outdoors with no electronics to bug ya, no cell phones, radios, tv's. just you the fire, a cold beer and mother nature | |
|
| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/15/2007 12:49:34 PM | Great Idea I do the tent thing. Wouldnt change it for the world....... A camping trip and some fishin around a warm fire would do the trick for me right about now!!!! | |
|
| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/15/2007 12:53:20 PM | Ok everyone I am having some issues with getting this in place.
To make camp reservations you have to put a deposit down. Now we could just say everyone reserve a spot at XYX camp ground but then we are all scattered. I found a place and to reserve the group area would be a great deal for the weekend but then they want just one single payment! URG...
So if you know of any private campgrounds that will follow the POF policies: no money upfront and all payments made by the member to the campground directly.
Please let me know!
Thanks! Amy | |

| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/15/2007 1:10:19 PM | | Let me check with my friends and I'll see what I cna do. If we go there it definitely has to be family oriented and any/all alcohol has to be downplayed because of it being a Christian campground ... but they're VERY nice. I'll let ya know once I find out spec's on it all..... | |

| Let's go camping! Posted: 3/16/2007 12:48:07 AM | Had a pop-up camper (12') when I was married, but sold it when divorced - too much work to set it up by myself. So I' m back to the basic tent. I say "basic" as included in my equipment is a three room tent, but I don't always get THAT one out....
I went tent camping for a week last year at Mohican State Park, and will be going back ther this September.... NOTHING Like sitting back, looking at the stars while BBQing chicken over the campfire....
I started taking my daughter primitive camping when she was six. Would kick the campfire in the morning to get it going to make hot chocolate for her and coffee for me, while the sticky buns were cooking in the brick oven that I made.... Was a RIOT to see people waking up in the morning and getting out their tents trying to figure out "....who was baking sticky buns in the middle of no-where...." But I DO enjoy "Hilton" camping so I have electricity to plug in the Mr Coffee....
