Already have plans to visit Ohio Power beginning of April, But as for a group thing Hocking Hills State Park has group campgrounds. According to their website its $60.00 for a group site that allows up to 30 people. There is a shelter house, pool, bathrooms, and water all very close. Just a thought. www.hockinghillspark.com | |

Posted: 3/16/2007 4:08:03 AM | the nice thing about my permanant site is i go very weekend, i dont have to spend tow hours when i get there, and two hours before i leave setting up, and tearing down, just roll up the awning, lock the doors, and go. but , on the other hand, i can see the attraction to primitive camping as well, nice to just be able to get to a nice lake, set up, fish, fire, coors light, and watch
problem with most state parks is no alcohol, you have to hide your beer in a sippy cup,lol, private campgrounds are alot more fun, been my experience that at most state parks, most folks are very unsociable | |

Personally it doesn't make any difference to me, but to some folks, they just can't relax without it. Feel they gotta have it or the desire for it at idle times is just that bad. Don't know what to say, just trying to accomodate as many as possible. | |

Been doing s'mores for long time. Neighbors called fire dept once. They watched my kids and I with our fire bucket and sticks. Surprised how nice they turned out and no dangerous horseplay. My kids have taught many of their friends.

Really worth looking into for a group. Must book early.
There are group sites at State Park near Sandusky. First come, first served.

Posted: 3/20/2007 7:46:45 AM | OK, I have been talking to Amy so lets get this thing going!!! There are a couple of details to work out but reservations (as in sign-ups) do need to be made early. Hocking Hills has group sites for 40, 40, 20 and 20. We have a tentative date for the weekend of June 16th. We can start an event thread with a sign up but to be included you would need to sign up EARLY, as in ASAP.
This will be a family oriented outing so bring the kids!!!! Check out the website at: hockinghillspark dot com for rules concerning pets, etc. With a large group we can all enjoy an entire weekend for less than it costs to attend a movie.
Remember, we are limited to the first 120 that sign up, including children. I'll certainly be there!!! | |

If anybody looks up the Ohio Department of Natural Resourses site, they have a map of all the state parks that have overnight facilities, fees, discounts, group rates, map of the park, pictures and events of the areas, the works. | |

I remember my last year at the summer camp.. We had the kids (about 50 of them) around the fire pit and were telling scarey stories.. When all of a sudden my ex husband comes running out of the trees... The adults all knew he was there but boy did those kids freak.. They ran clear the main camping area - it was tough explaining why the kids took off running like that to the operators
Then try to round up 50 kids and get them ready for bed! It was something I will never try again!  | |
