At the London meet I wore, with pride, the splendiforous badge that Sand Fairy made for me. I still have it at home and shall bring it out at the next meet I attend.

The badges are a great ice breaker, give everyone an excuse to peer at peoples chests, and identifies those among us who look absolutely nothing like their photos! (several people commented that I didn't actually need a badge - cos I'm on here so often, and I look JUST like my pics!)

I'm all in favour of everyone wearing a badge, and really don't understand why anyone would NOT want to.

Evan: you may miss out on The Woman Of Your Dreams because she doesn't know if you are fish or not, and which fish you are......

If the woman of my dreams was there I think we would end up talking because if she was dream worthy then I would talk to her silly. Plus I look just like my pictures just uglier..

lol....I just dont like name tags ... plus my user name is my real name anyways just about and my first name is kinda tattoed on my arm because when I was 18 I thought it would be cool which its not and I hate it hahha...

Cargy.... have we changed your mind yet?

Ahh, you misunderstand ma'am! I was quoting one of the film world's most parodied lines (Google it!), not refusing to wear a badge! lol

Quite frankly I'll wear a badger if it makes the evening even more of a laugh!

As a co host of the Birmingham meet, I got to say that these badges aren't done just cos we feel like it... My hands are in agony by the end of the evening, hand writing 300+badges and finding out the names of the people I'm writing then for whilst being yelled at from every angle isn't the easiest job in the world, but it does serve a purpose and they are worth their weight in gold after the night when people peruse the pic thread and get to see who you really are...

People could always be told to make their own name badges from sticky labels which don't cost much and write their name on them.

If I come to a meet Im making my own badge that covers my face up so I dont scare anyone to much and put them off their drinks....either that or I'll pretend to be someone else.....oh that could be fun...evil but fun...

I understand your ache from writing so many badges pants but its a good idea that you do. At the nottingham meet we got to write our own, good for me with my artistic flair but some people cant even write let alone be creative with it...i did notice that some peoples badge didnt serve any purpose to anyone but them, could be an ice breaker though..."Wtf does that say"?

Nice large letters, nice & clear...then it most definatly serves a purpose.

I think it should be compulsery to wear them, like the stamp on the back of your hand you get going in a club or such, says that you arent a gatecrasher & can be a form of security...(If venue exclusivity is in play)

If you aint wearing a badge, you shouldnt be there.

Our parties have grown so big and there are now several people who have attended more than one of them. Considering different colored name tags for first time party goers....that way it is easier for the regulars to find them and help them meet other newbies and old timers....this has actually been requested by quite a few of the more shy crowd...just a thought.

I think the name badges are a good idea as people dont always look the same as their pics and like someone says they are a good icebreaker.

Also I have looked at pics from lots of meets and havent recognised half of the people as they have had no name badges on.

For everyone who doesnt like wearing the name badges you can always take them off half way through the night after everyone knows who you are and as someone else pointed out, not everyone who attends the meets post on the forums so you really need the badges to know who they are.

My only complaint is that I would like one of the nice fancy fishy shaped ones and I dont know where you get them lol

How about giving out reusable badges made using a round button badge making machine. People could pay say 50p for one and then keep it and use it for every meet they attend.

I actually own one of those machines and did just that for one of our parties for the "regulars"...they went over well....now everyone that has attended a few wants to know where theirs are....I started a snowball effect.

I think the badges are a good idea, when i have been asked my user name in the past i find myself repeating it,its so much easier to show people a badge.

In my old CB days I used to wear a Black square pin badge that said..."You have just eyeballed...." and the name was put on using a Dynamo sticker machine. It had a picture of 2 eyes looking to the right I think?! Maybe this would be a good idea with a POF logo on it and the words "You have just met.....". People could choose to have a plain sticker or pay for the badge. I would pay!
