I seem to get a fair number of mails from girls who read my profile and then write me a mail saying that they like what they read and they are interested. From the ones I respond too, not one girl ever seems to write back...Am I doing something wrong??? OP, what are you saying in your response that "closes the door"? If you don't become conversational, ask questions of interest, have something to say that is worthwhile... it will appear stale and not worth the effort... especially if they've received other emails from people that have been more engaging.

| ***What is it with the Girls On Here??*** Posted: 3/14/2007 8:57:18 AM | how bout we delete responses 3 - 126 and just keep Janet4now's. she basically answered your frustration in the OP with the 3 lines she wrote, through a woman's looking glass.
from response 2 - "maybe your talking to the wrong girls". that would be a question you'd want your bro's to ask you, but she did it for you. i'd seriously consider this comment...it may answer some questions on your intentions of who your hittting up on here and why.
in my OPINION, this thread is worthless. so much crap in the middle that this got completely off topic (porn??? Where the F did that come from?)....

| ***What is it with the Girls On Here??*** Posted: 3/14/2007 10:01:10 AM | it's not just girls on here, it's the same problem for men on every other dating site. at one point i had 9 different profiles on all the major dating sites. at first i thought maybe the paid sites would have some girls serious about finding someone (ya know...b/c they PAID for the right to contact someone) but really, women are just happy to have an environment with the overwhelming advantage of being able to ignore men who they are not interested in. were they at a bar and faced with some guy trying to pick them up, they would HAVE to say something. here they can just pretend they never read your email, and they feel no obligation to politely say 'no thanks'. honestly guys, the only profile i've ever written that gets me ANY kind of email is the one i've written here, and it's just b/c i have a cute cat. hey here's a thought for everyone: aren't these women who complain about insensitive men the SAME women who don't seem to understand why men get bent out of shape when they get no response from sending a sincere, thoughtful email ? oh...i see. you want a man sensitive to YOUR needs yet feel that men should be able to take any amount of insensitivity from women and keep smiling about it. online dating is an absolute joke for men. you're better off trying to win the lottery than wasting your time and money online. at least at a bar there's beer..... | |

( okay I had 4 ) at first i thought maybe the paid sites would have some girls (boys) serious about finding someone (ya know...b/c they PAID for the right to contact someone) ( Funny THAT is exactly what I thought too) but really, women (men) are just happy to have an environment with the overwhelming advantage of being able to ignore men (women) who they are not interested in.
Unfortunetly, zim73 it can be said about both men and women. I think there shoud be a class on "The Proper Use Of InterNet Dating Services".

most of the time they are on sites like that cuz they have problem attracting guys they ARE attracted to. if they were desperate and just wanted companionship they cuold just start going through the ugly guys on the free dating site when all the guys they find attractive ignore them

OP, what are you saying in your response that "closes the door"? If you don't become conversational, ask questions of interest, have something to say that is worthwhile... it will appear stale and not worth the effort... especially if they've received other emails from people that have been more engaging. This is a very good point, Janet. (But you knew that...otherwise you would not point it out.) Therrin You may or may not be sending out emails that get noticed...ask questions...ask in a way that compels them to want to answer...and as Janet mentions- engage them in conversation.
Here is something else...adjust your expectation level. You have been a member a relatively short time. This is a dating site and many are engaged in the activity of dating. It is a reasonable expectation that many of the women who were members prior to your arrival were already talking to men already who had contacted the long before you "logged in" (became a member). With this in mind, it is also worth a mention that the “familiarity factor” is not there yet for the women – I think if you give yourself some time and log in everyday at various different times (obviously because schedules are different with different people...-different work hours, etc.) – ok I was beginning to digress into more general information—keep in mind this is my opinion and what has been my experience. I have been an active member on this site for eight (crazy) -- months... (Since July 06) – Prior to that I had signed up (Mar 05) but rarely logged on...in Jan 06 I discovered I had forgotten about this site—and logged in to find quite a few emails – I updated my profile and made a half hearted attempt at dating only to again lose interest—mainly because I did not feel like dating—so ... May 06 ... I revamped my profile with new pictures and rewrote my profile It did take a couple of months for me to get really acclimated to online dating. Most of us do not have vast internet dating experiences and much you will just go on trial and error. Beyond the “newbie” aspect –finding out how things work, I do feel that there is credence in the mention of “familiarity factor” (seeing another member online consistently) – Important to note—many coming on to internet dating sites may feel a bit daunted -- -some may take awhile to get over the fear of: strangers—internet-dating-men -women-people-the unknown-and other fears ... this also is a factor...I think (my opinion) –people join this site everyday... if you notice someone –email them...be friendly and honest, sincere—just be yourself and approach it as you are just out to make some new friends. The discussion forums of this site are not only educational and there is a topic for everyone—entertaining -- a d d i c t i n g -- it is a great way to ...if you are inclined get involved – you cannot help but to make friends on this site as regularly reading, posting – participating in the forum discussions you will simply draw likeminded people into your life... you will be surprised how quickly you can make friends and there are other benefits... one mention – worth mentioning—is the fact your last five forum posts show up on your profile... this incidentally is how I stumbled upon the forums...the profile I looked at had these blue hyperlinks near the bottom—always the curious cat I am—and love to push buttons and see which coloured what...anyway...this is getting too long and I see you have enough to read. Good luck

| ***What is it with the Girls On Here??*** Posted: 3/14/2007 8:17:46 PM | | Your a nice dude start listening to 97.1 at 3pm you will learn a lot.Have to be careful what i say last time my post was taken off after 15 minutes. The women have a 7 to 1 ratio on here hence these dating sites are a womens world.Add that to the fact theirs lots of serial daters looking for freebies and using guys you will start to get the picture.Sad but true.As for the ego thing your quite right when they have big numbers on the favorites list they love that!!!!!!!!!!More than 30 not worth the time of day.So for all you guys out their remember its a numbers game and you are not holding the aces!!!!!!!Are their good ones, yes,but not too many.POF lots of fun!!!!!!!!! | |

The women have a 7 to 1 ratio on here
What makes you think that? Do you have something concrete you are basing that claim on or just pulling it out of your rectum?
Not please work on hitting the space bar after the periods, commas, etc. I'm old and you're hurting my eyes.

| ***What is it with the Girls On Here??*** Posted: 3/14/2007 8:32:01 PM | I did a search within 10 miles of me. 151 males and 91 females. That's no where near the numbers you're talking about. Maybe the ratio is different in different areas, but do one within your area and see. Eeek is actually in my search group 44-52. So watch with the old thing, k?
From your profile: (spaces added for the "more mature" audience)
Easy going looking for the same................................................................. No Golddiggers Allowed. No serial daters allowed. No overweights allowed. That makes it easy and clear.
You sound lovely. Hard to believe you haven't met your match.

Your the rectum guess the truth hurts
Truth is your response would be pathetic if you improved it a bit.
Like your eyes hurting so enjoy.Your way too old anyway so why worry!!!!!
Obviously you don't understand the concept of a rhetorical comment. Pity. You are the one that'll be judged by your writing skills here. If you're too lame to even put a space after a period, why would anybody want to date you?
It's up to you. You can make your writing look better (and stop being so pissy too) or you can go on acting like a trog.
BTW, hope you enjoy turning 50 soon or perhaps you are lying about your age and are looking at 60 or 70.

| ***What is it with the Girls On Here??*** Posted: 3/14/2007 8:36:31 PM | | I noticed the forums, too, after I started phishing for potential relationshippers. Some of the forums were pretty interesting, and I noticed that some of the issues between men and women are still with us. Since I like to argue, it wasn't hard to develop an interest in the topics in the forums. I figure the more "independent" women can always email me if they want to explore any of our common interests. | |

Ok, so I'm an old moron. Now how about enlightening everyone as to why you think I am a moron. You might also let everyone know what your old ID was so we can tell who it is that has crawled back on here.

My heart felt sympathies for you.

I noticed the forums, too, after I started phishing for potential relationshippers there is something dreadfully wrong with this syntax. and "Phishing"? --this word is used in a negitive sense relating to fraudulant activities.
"relationshippers" ?
Is this a new sit-com loosely based on the 50s classic "The Honeymooners"?
Dude... I'm enjoying your posts - keep them coming... I think I get the point you are making--yet, I need to check the previous posts for further enlightenment.

(damn it Eeek... you're too quick) Janet- the correct spelling is "dammitt" and this word is commonly punctuated with an exclaimation point.
as in "Dammit, Janet!" as you see...there is not a verb in this sentence. That is good because it needs more than a verb... to be a complete sentence. Let's try again. I'm thinkin---a really cool song with Dammit, Janet featured predominately in it... Yes, I say--this sounds like a fun --while educational idea...
"Dammit, Janet!" *(From Rocky Horror Picture Show.) The name has been changed to circumvent the Copyright Law (Garwsh, I thought all this time it was public domain...
"Dammit, Janet!" Hey Janet (Yes Bill?), I've got something to say. I really loved the skilful way You beat the other girls to the bride's bouquet!

Here's a ring to prove that I'm no joker There's three ways that love can grow That's good, bad or mediocre Oh J-A-N-E-T I love you so
Oh it's nicer than Betty Munroe had, oh Bill Now we're engaged and I'm so glad, oh Bill That you've met Mum and you know Dad, oh Bill I've one thing to say and that's
Bill I'm mad for you too...
Oh Bill, Oh... dammit! I'm mad, Oh Janet! For you, I love you too There's one thing left to do, and that's
Go see the man who began it When we met in his science exam-it Made me give you the eye and then panic There's one thing to say and that's
