Anyway she gets back and our dinner arrive, she had ordered chicken, which she proceeds to eat with her hands, then she would lick her fingers between bites!!!! not one or two fingers but she would lick all ten one at a time and make a snapping sound after each finger.
Maybe you made you so nervous she got hives!

Honestly, with young people today the finger licking thing does not surprise me at all. I have taught my kids good manors from the day they could understand what I was talking about, yet they never fail to embarrass me to tears every time we go out to eat. In fact I just don't take them out any more.

Both are well educated. Both have excellent jobs(excuse me careers), top money. Both act as if they were raised in the slum someplace always have they always will. It's not just them either all their friends that I have eat'n with are the same way. Again these are are slum children at all.

About a year ago I was out with my son a girl he was 1/2 azz interested in and her folks. She actually told her father to shot-up. LOL....and the Fool did. My son grab my arm knowing I was about to blow a gasket. But he was wearing a silly cowboy hat indoors at a very nice place. The Balcony here in Fort worth. OOOOO between the two you people they were wearing a couple grand in cloths. Well I got my old ass outta there ASAP and never have been out with them again. My daughter.....same story she is a slob. But she the best looking slob in the place no matter where she goes, so I guess that makes it ok. To me it make it worse.

I better be still before I really get on a roll....where's my tums????

You know, I think I have enough presence of mind that if I suddenly started itching like that, that I would at least say something to my date about it! I mean come on! LOL!

That is peculiar and especially in light of the fact she didn't say anything, it would have at least made her appear somewhat sane by saying WTF? I do'nt know what's wrong but I'm so itchy, I'm nearly wanting to rip my skin off here...this is not good.

At least you would have known what the heck was going on. Sounds to me like she's got something going on and for whatever strange and peculiar reason wasn't willing to let you know...which is even freakier.

There is NO WAY a guy would get a second date with me after not telling me WTF was up?It's just not "normal" behavior and if he knowingly had a condition, the least he could do is mention it. It might then give me some information that I wasn't going to puzzle over all night.

Does Canada have chiggers? We got'em down in Virginia -- the peskiest critters that God ever put on earth.

They inhabit blackberry bushes, and wild places like that. The like nice, warm, moist places on the human body. (The mind's eye innocently wanders about, looking for warm, moist places).

The only cure is a blowtorch and an ice pick. Kerosene (Pink Paraffin, to y'all Canadians and Englishmen, I think) works too.

I don't know, dude....why are you going to take her out again if her eating habits turned you off? Think about eating dinner with her for the rest of your life! I can see it now...you in your over stuffed chair and her in hers...both of you with tv trays infront of you watching the television.

I just don't know.

I would have left when she went to the restroom all that scratching would have done it for me. I know it is rude but that would have totally sickened me and I would have been running for the door!

To each their own - did you bother to find out about her behaviour? I guess not according to your description. I guess the rest of her personality, appearance wasn't enough to capture your attention otherwise.

It's too bad that you didn't find out why she was behaving this way - I'd be curious.

And as for running home - that's just rude - you should have at least explained yourself. Otherwise, we're going to have to read another forum entry about this woman who has a nickel allergy, cannot use the metal forks at the restaurant and was resigned to eat with her fingers, her date cutting it all short and never getting back to her.

Sigh.

You could have found out what it was without making her feel uncomfortable by using humor. If you had smiled and said something like, "Are the mosquitoes out early this year?", she probably would have smiled and said, "No, I shouldn't have used Tide in the wash"...or otherwise let you know what it was.

I wouldn't go that far with the nickel allergy..the OP said nothing of seeing welts or reddened skin as in an allergy response shown on the skin.

I would think of something like head lice though with the itching, as I've heard that is annoying. I would not want to repeat the date or finish then as it is something contagious I have also heard. My teen used to go to a public school and there was an outbreak, they had to wear their hair closely to their head and not share a comb, brush, hat, etc. They had to have head lice hair inspections then too. It is just gross. Who wants to eat dinner with that?

If I were in the OP's position, I would ask if there was a problem when they itched to see why they did..that is granted this actually took place. I have seen my share of threads that make you go "hmm".

OP, I'm not sure it's wise to go against your gut instincts. I thought as you did, that I needed to rethink my dating ways. I went against my instincts and dated the last guy for several months, even exclusively. As it turned out, my instincts were correct and it was hard on both of us to end it. It is just the dating scene now. It is so hard to date being older. The rules of dating have completed changed. With so much BS and dishonesty etc., etc., it is just a whole 'nother ball game anymore.

Let us know if you do a second date and how it went. I know I will be curious to see if it works out. Guess a second date would tell for sure. If she even accepts. But then she might think you liked her a lot even with all the scratching. Thus asking her for a second date might make her think something is so, that isnt. See what I mean? The dating scene now is confusing and crazy...lol.........ARRRrrrrghhhhhhh

I have no real suggestions though, since I haven't found an answer to it all myself!

Happy fishing,
Linda

the scratching thing might just be an allergy to something.... This is my new way of looking at this dating thing. In the past i ran at the first site of anything that bugged me. If i can actually go out with her again it would be a step in the right direction, and shows some kind of growth on my part.

I'm boldfacing the not-so-subliminal references you're now making about skin bumps and bug bites that are obviously infesting your mind like a bunch of little fleas.

Hey friend, shame on you. This is the way to talk about a date?
Fingers or not, 5 stars or none, if you like the person you with who cares how you eat.
Yesterday I had lunch in a good place, yes a woman I met here, ate lamb chops with my hands. Do you know why? We were very comfortable with each other, barely noticed who was around us.
Just say it, you do not care for the lady.

calm down lady i was only figuratively speaking!!! my parents were raised on a farm back in the motherland too as well as the rest of my relatives and some of them are still raising cattle so just calm yourself down woman!!! it's only a freaking matter of speech. it wasn't intended in it's literal sense. holy crap some people are sooooo bloody uptight!!!! you've obviously got issues lady!!!

<div class='quote'>Was she raised on a farm amongst the farm animals??? i was referring to the animals on the farm not the people that raise the animals! i suggest that you read posts properly before flying off the handle like you did.

IV drug users will scratch like that sometimes, especially if they get a bad batch (too much bleach). Would explain the lengthy bathroom trip too.
I’m just sayin…Maybe.

The first thing I thought of was , she got nervous and broke out OR something she wore broke her out. As for going to the bathroom maybe she was checking to see if she was ok and she very well may have washed her hands. I would never assume. There could be a good reason , and I am the type of person that would ask. Sorry. I am not a mean person but , I would have laughed at a guy if he did that and said out right ; what is wrong with you man ? You ok ? Maybe we should take you home. LOL ! Just the way I am. I would let the person know of course I was worried about them doign this in a kind way of course. Maybe you should bring it up to her and say , look , it is like this. that night out , what happened to you ? Did you get a rash ? This would solve it all. However , the part about licking all five fingers like her food was going out of style. That is just gross. I dont' even do that around my family or close friends. Heck , I dont' do it when I am eating alone, lol. Anyway. If you want to know , just ask. If she was just doing it for no reason , my guess is she was nervous and didn't even realize she was doing it all that much. I don't know. I have to say thought , I did smile at the thought of it. ((( So Dad , how did you met mom ))) Well son , I met her on POF site and we went out but I ran the first date cause she was itchy , hahaha. I can't even finish the rest of this post , have tears in ym eyes from laughing , sorry.

I'm wondering what is more couth in manners....scratching on the date and licking one's fingers....or actually coming to the forum to write about the person who is on POF as if they stand no chance of ever reading about themselves in a FORUM POST.......If she agreed to go on a second date, I doubt it would still happen if she knew what you were actually saying about her.....I mean, is it a sympathy second date to come back and talk about it again??

WTF.......
