I 'm hoping to go back to school in the fall to complete two programs that I started 5 and 10 years ago. If all goes well I could be working for the government in the new year (alot better than retail -- I think so...lol)

I went back to school in September of 2005 to upgrade my credentials....and just graduated. I've jumped up the corporate ladder by 2 or 3 steps from where I was before going back to school. Its hard to do in the beginning...but ya just have to paddle through the muck sometimes

i went to University when i was 46 - completed a three year course and i am now a mental health nurse! Qualified at age 49 and had a graduation with the cap, gown and everything!!!

It was quite hard going as i had six children to look after as well, but i loved every minute of the course.

Anyway, Education is wasted on the young!!

Me too am thinking as well. Why is going back to school in your 30's too old? heck the average person changes careers several times over their life. This is normal and education is valuable. Good luck.

I am 32 and just started uni back in November. Let me tell you, online classes are where it is at. With the randomness of my work hours, online works so much better for me. Come next July, I will have my AA done in IT and will be working towards my BS. You are never to old to go back to school.

I'm doing the same & have been working around the kids' schedules &my work the last couple yes. I decided in the last month to go back to school full-time & get it finito. I feel beter about this decision than any I've made regarding our future.
Good luck!

Well by the time I get things scheduled around my kids and their sport activities are slowed down, I will be 31 when I finally get to start my classes of requirement for nursing school and since I have to work full time to support my kids I can only go part time. So with that said by the time I get my LPN I will be 34...and then I plan on going to get my RN.

i say if you have the time and money go for it, my sister did and she feels her life is better for it. what i dont like to see is the kids being put to the side to better the degree. i see that and thats not right, if you are doing it to make a life for them and thats the only way thats one thing but there are some that do it to just say they can and to take away the time from them isnt right. as for my sister she did it after her youngest was in the upper levels of high school and still she didnt make it a full time thing. which raises another question, she has a husband which took up the slack there, i have seen and heard of people that leave young kids alone to go do there thing like 10 yrs old which i think is not right either.

I am so impressed when I learn of fellow "mature students" returning to school. I am also going back - entering my third year of science at university and heading on afterwards for another 6 years of university. I am so excited about it, it's like being a kid again. I worked my derriere off over the last 1.5 years to save so that I don't need 3 jobs like the first time I went through, and it's all so tremendously exciting to learn more everyday. I do not have munchkins, so certainly it will be easier for me than a single parent, but a great friend of mine went back to school full-time/in another city/with 2 pre-teens and she did so well. It was challenging, but anything is possible! Enjoy your school days! :)

Congrats on going back to school!!!

I just graduated from college in May with my associates degree in Accounting. I was married for 17 years when the divorce was final and I could enroll...it was the absolute best experience of my life. I went full time, worked as much as possible and continued to raise my teenagers. Hectic as hell isn't what I would call the last 2 years, but it IS so worth it now.

I was just accepted into a nursing program which was very very difficult to get into. I havent really had the opportunity till now to do this. I am very thankful for my situation which will now allow me to become something more. I am excited and nervous however I know I will do well and the struggle will be worth it! oh and BTW I will be 33 in a few months.

I am not so crazy about going to school again but since my previous educational experiences have left me with just OSAP loans and not much else I might in the future. I see nothing wrong with going back, some people just don't have the opportunity to do it right after high school or don't know what they want. With me my interests have changed over the years and the job I thought I wanted wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

I've been a nurse for 10 years. After my divorce I decided to get rid of everything in my life that was dragging me down. And I truly detest my job! Now I'm a geology major because I'm passionate about earthquakes, volcanoes, and anything "earthy"

to all the nursing students... don't do it!

i love my job and can't wait to become a nurse, to me there is nothing like taking care of others that can no longer do it themselves. it's a very hard job i have to admit working in a nursing home, but it's rewarding, but i'm a lover of all people.. i love people.

I have been taking 1 course at a time since 1999 in order to finally get my college diploma. I am doing placements in the Fall and Spring then will graduate with honours in 2008! It has been really hard to juggle group work, readings, homework, assignments, presentations and so on but with determination it can be done! I am proud to have done so!

I didn't get my grad degree til I was 38. I'd probably go back for my Ph.d if I had nothing better to do ~ but I'm sort of schooled out. It's never too late though.

Hello~ I am 44~ went back(lol not back but TO) college in April of this year~ majoring in Health Information Technology/Medical Assistant. I caught a lot of crap from people saying I was too old and would never fit in,but the minority of people that were impressed and proud that I had decided to take on such a challenge FAR outweighed the naysayers. So duck if they can't hang lol. Oh~ btw ~ I have a 4.0 GPA~ Go me !!!! ~Cher~
